Btw, if ANY of these pastors bothered TO READ the Bible, they'd realize that NOWHERE does it explicitly say, "It's wrong to be gay."

There may be a handful of verses that supposedly DENOUNCE homosexuals (such as Paul denouncing gays, along with many other "sexual deviants") or one man lying with another man (but what about 2 women having sex?) being stoned to death, but there are ZERO actual verses, at least that I can recall, that SPECIFICALLY SAY, "Being gay is a sin." NONE. NADA. ZIP. ZERO.

So any pastor claiming that being bigoted against gays and saying it's a sin is "based on scripture" is just lying and full of it.

And in the documentary "For the Bible Tells Me So", actual EXPERTS on Judaism ROUNDLY DEBUNK the notion that the Bible is extremely anti-gay and also CORRECTLY interpret various verses like, "If a man lays with another man, he shall be stoned to death." And no, Sodom and Gomorrah's destruction had NOTHING TO DO with "rampant gayness" in that town! Besides, the only 'homosexuality' in that entire story in Genesis had to do with the men there wanting to "have sex with" (rape, actually) the angel

Truly INFORMED Christians and Jews have NO REASON to be bigoted against gays, including the most devout and faith-based! It's just cultural upbringing and conservative bullshit masquerading as "religion." But, as almost always, religion is bullshit. The 'good' things that come from religion EASILY could and have come WITHOUT being faithful (charity, being kind to others, etc.), and the bad effects just make such a great case against it.

Look, homosexuality has ALWAYS BEEN WITH US! It really IS just as natural as being straight. It's just not as frequent. This idea that some conservatives have that homosexuality MUST be 'unnatural' because it happens to such a small fraction of humanity is LUDICROUS!  We don't BASE objective science about "what's natural" (to whatever extent 'natural' can be defined objectively) merely on the FREQUENCY of something, at least not in all cases.

Most white people (and most people in general) DO NOT have red hair. By far, they tend to have either black, brown or blonde. Does that mean being a redhead is "unnatural" or a sin?

The people in ALMOST EVERY civilization who've taught bigoted views and passed them down for generations as "the norm" simply are AFRAID. They FEAR what they do not understand (homosexuality), so they denounce it rather than trying to UNDERSTAND IT. True, some gays flaunt their sexuality. Some blacks flaunt being flaunt. But that's not nearly ALL of them. And besides, even if THEY DO flaunt, that's no excuse to be prejudiced!

THERE IS NO "HOMOSEXUAL LIFESTYLE!" There is only a PROMISCUOUS lifestyle that a lot of gays AND straights engage in! This is by no means the norm for either sexual orientation, though. If you do EVERYTHING exactly the same as a straight person would but happen to like the same sex, why is that a "lifestyle"?

In the 21st Century, we base good public policy on REASON and empirical evidence, not an age-old book of glorified fairy tales. This is NOT a theocracy! Keep your bigoted views to yourself and let gays have their freedom! Just like blacks and OTHER non-whites got THEIR freedom with the Civil Rights Movement, and racists had to STFU and accept it. As a Christian preacher, Osteen must support the bible. The problem is believing the bible is the word of God. Bart Ehrman, bible scholar, came to the conclusion it is not, a conclusion I came to many years ago also. The bible is wrong about a lot of things.
