we got pushed in to shore a couple times. we stopped earlier for a quick rest and box break. by the time we got our site we were in the beginning stages of hypothermia....
sounds like fun, that day it took us almost 4 hours, though we paddled pretty hard non-stop, and went straight through, no hugging the shoreline. a thunderstorm would have been interesting!
why didn't u hug the shoreline? just curious i find myslef doing that everytime i get caught in a storm out there and it also gives u the option of camping somewhere along the way,i know u are supposed to camp on a specific lake but sometimes it's not physically possible and if u get into a situation with lightning it's best to be wise and hugging the shoreline u will be that much quicker to get out of the water,i have been there and done the canoe lake to tom thompson for the last 6 years
We were leaving that day, we had a schedule to keep to and the boat wasn't taking on any water. It's about a 5 hour trip from the north end of Opeongo to the south, we didn't have time to hug the shore really.
oh my, I just did the same thing on Friday. 6 hours to the north end of the north arm.... it was my first day in a canoe... and ended in a thunder storm.
OMG KEVIN!!
That sounded REALLY windy out there!!
HOLY CRAP!!!
Yeah, I heard something like, "Locked at Davy Jones!" or something liek that LOL!
