Oh, and by the way, I bought white crochet cotton that has a silver thread going through it. It looks really nice, but it's a pain in the butt to work with, cos it keeps curling up lol. But it's worth it though. Thanks again.
Hi Teresa. I absolutely love this project. I was hoping to go to my local dollar store to pick up some ornaments like the ones you use on this projects. They have them for 6 for a dollar there, but then I ended up going to Zellers tonight, and got 12 of the same ornaments for 77 cents a dozen. Needless to say, I was thrilled. I've been making these ornaments ever since I got home lol. I'll be making a set of four for each of my 3 sisters for Christmas. I can't thank you enuf for this pat.
@iamnotaturd413 You should be able to watch on your iphone. I watch videos on my ipod and ipad all the time. I have found that YouTube apps don't work as well as watching YouTube through Safari.
@Aniceta1986 You will work additional increase loops. If you notice that on some rounds you will single crochet, chain then single crochet in the same loop. That is increasing.
My favorite ornaments are the last two ornaments left that were brought with part of my family heritage on my Mother's side. They came from Germany. One of them was made in 1787, the other in 1798. They have been passed down from generation to generation, always to the youngest child ( for a change YaY!) So I have them now. I don't have children, so my niece will get them from me when she has children. I can't even count how many great greats that is, but I am proud to have them. They are glass.
Teresa, do you have this pattern in writing on your blog or website. I tried to find it but I'm not seeing it anywhere. If you have it in writing would you please email me?
alicebair@msn.com Thanks so much! These ornaments are gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing!
i made two one ine varigated xmas colors one in white sparkle. love it thanks so much. just a note i have books to make these kind of xmas balls but never made any till now your pattern lol thanks again
there are some really nice glass looking plastic balls out there that wouls also look great. i bought some last year and i cant tell the difference. only difference is they dont shatter like glass. just a thought, you might be able to buy them at your local dollar store. =)
@641pmrr You do not have to be able to see the thread. My eyes are not as sharp as they were when I was younger so I am not able to see myself making the actual stitches.
@StrawKatt With this project, you are working the single crochet around each chain. The only stitch you work through is the beginning chain or single crochet when you join. They do not have to be perfect. You are doing it the same way as if you were working with yarn.
Such a great idea and video. I agree with what you said about the cheap ornaments nowadays. I think buying a ball or something like that would be better if you want them to last. I'll probably do this sometime next year and have it for Christmas 2011 and hopefully pass it down. Thank you so much for this crochet-along. I appreciate you very much. Ps, are you on ravelry?
