  • Can i use this product for a DWC system or would the hail float?

  • @HowToHydroponics Hail works very well in DWC systems and will not float when put in to a container or pot.

  • you didnt try the basil.

  • I am highly interested in HAIL. Will be testing it out soon. I can see where it might not be the best anchor for all plants but there is still plenty of usefulness.

  • ok i am back now. i went to green circle hydroponics today. i asked them about STG. hehe they were not that impressed with this medium. they GAVE ME a bag. i will let you all know how well this medium works.

  • funny, you never did adress the short comings of STG. how can anyone believe you if you are not at least honest? in your opinion education is nothing more than knowing that our money belongs in your pocket and that is all WE should know. dont criticize, just gaze in wonder at the oil absorbant.

  • @NCC1701zulu and at only three times the price.

  • Can the hail cubes work with organic-hydro nutrients such as Biobizz, earth juice, general organics bio-line of products, bat guano and worm castings etc.??

  • @TheJonnyutah STG is inert and pH nuetral so it has no interactions with your nutrients. Should work great.

  • this STG is garbage. no stable root anchor. no mass for holding plants steady. stay with hydroton, its solid, has mass and is reusable.

  • @NCC1701zulu if you actually tried Hail you would know your facts are wrong. Depending on the weights of your plants you might need to stake them up, same as hydroton. Neither prodcut is for every grower, if you prefer hydroton use it, we are just offering growers an option many seem to prefer. No need to trash Hail for offering up a choice to growers.

  • @SureToGrowers well you trash hydroton and thats ok. tell me one good thing you have said about hydroton? tell us one drawback you have mentioned about STG? no offense bro i did not mean to ruffle your feathers. how reusable is it? what about if it gets algae? doesnt lite penetrate deep into the root zone so shouldnt you cap it? i dont claim to be an expert however i have many many many years in the "grow". just where do you fit into the STG "chain of command"? are you biased?

  • @NCC1701zulu If you have never tried Hail, why do you offer an opinion as if you have. As an owner of the company i can tell you it is very hurtful and frustrating to us and our employees when we read comments like yours "STG is garbage". We take pride in our products and the job we are doing to bring options to growers. I never understand people like you who shot first and think later. negative words have negative impact.

  • @SureToGrowers nice monologue. if your feelings are hurt then i apologize. perhaps a gentler occupation then american business would be more appropriate for you? you ignored potentional issues that i stated. dispel them, here is your oppurtunity to win customers. i am not so sure you are qualified to presume i have "shot first without thinking". nice personal attack, very proffesional. how do you treat your customers when they have a problem? you should focus on educating not insulting.

  • @NCC1701zulu I'm done, guys like you are all about the confrontation. No real desire to learn or get educated. lets just agree to disagree and move on.

  • how do these work with aquaponics for staying clean?

the ph neutral thing is nice

but with the hydro system i wanna do, there will be fish waste and composting worms in the bed to help breakdown said fish waste and provide other nutrient to the plants through other organic matter

will these hurt worms in any way?

sure sounds interesting, but i'd like to know a bit more about it

  • @Xxfades321xX We hear lots of good things from aquaponics growers who use STG. Many AQP growers use STG pads and matts as a biofilter to catch the sediment too. Being inert and ph nutreal is helpful in that kind of growing enviornment where you have lots of live things trying to keep healthy and thriving. Give it a shot, you will know quickly if it's for you.

  • Have emailed you guys a few days ago... Waiting reply.

  • WHAT IS HAIL MADE OF?....IS IT SAFE?

  • @toetag88 oF COURSE ITS SAFE... STG is made from PET, same material as a water bottle. its inert, sterile and pH neutral. it sa fiber made in a textile mill in NC.

  • Compared to Canna CoCo... How is this medium? I am in Australia, and slowly hearing a lot about sure to grow products

  • @aussieherbal not sure what you mean how does it compare? Performance wise, we get good reviews from coco guys. they like that it is inert and sterile, no need to pre-prep and it's pH neutral. also no mess and weighs virtually nothing, unfortunetly no one in your country has opted to bring it in. hope we get there some time, you guys will love it.

  • @SureToGrowers Your product seems brilliant. I run a strawberry and tomato farm, and am currently using coco, which is great, but... It is dirty, some bags have a salt count which required pre washing, and bugs seem to love making their home in it. I have searched high and low for the STG products to no avail. No one ships to AUSTRALIA! Would you be interested in us wholesaling your product down here. I can see a massive market for this! YOU GUYS ARE BRILLIANT!

  • @aussieherbal I will tell you the same thing i have told literally dozens of Aussies and NZ'ers who have asked about distributing STG in their countries. The oppertunitty is yours for the asking. We hear from that part of the world regularly and have at least a 100 emails archived to give the the first guy that pulls the trigger. There is great interest from hobbyists, retailers and commercial growers there. Email me from my STG website for more information.

  • @zornu2 Good one. always enjoy a clever pun.

  • i here this shit get algae if you do not cover it

  • @ACtripID thanks for the comment. STG is a non wicking media, so the only way it can get wet on top and then grow algae, is by the system or grower getting it wet. Some times you can't avoid it, becasue the way your system operates, but most often you can. As your canopy gets denser you can add more Hail on top and cover over the cubes that have algae or remove them and add fresh clean ones. Don't get easier than that.

  • @ACtripID you obviously have no growing experience! Rock wool (Grodan cubes) develops algae (unless you cover the tops with clay etc...), STG products (what I have seen) do not. If the top of ANY media gets wet, you are going to have algae. Learn your system before using any kind of media to prevent plants getting sick from careless growing.

  • 1:20 somethins hidin back there

  • how many 2 cubic ft will fill an ebb n grow?cuz i just bought the 2 cubic ft bag and it only filled 5 buckets?

  • @saywordson357 based on how we fill the buckets, about two inches below the top of the bucket, we filled 6 E&G buckets. You will see little to no compression of the Hail cubes.

  • what about mixing it with sunshine#4 ... my beef with #4 is the salt retention in the peat moss is tough to flush out and perlite always floats to the top .... would this stuff work with something like sunshine#4?

  • You can easily use hail or our loose fill as a soil amendment. Not sure it will do anything to help your situation, why not just go with the Hail if you hate the salt buildup from sunshine.

  • @SureToGrowers so i could just use hail in like 5 gallon buckets? how long would it take to dry out in between waterings if i gave them 3/4 of a gallon each watering?.......... i prefer to water by hand. thank you

  • @bubblefunk2

You'll most likely have to water 2-3 times per day at first, and then increase to 4-6 times per day once roots have developed into the container. Watering times will most likely be between every 3-4 hours.

  • is the hail reusable like the hydroton?

  • It's not reuseable, as reusing media is not recommended, no one can ever be sure that their media is completely clean and disinfected before reusing. You can be sure that Sure to Grow products are sterile and inert everytime..... safe and easy to use.

  • 9 days??????????????? Damn, my tomatoes are at probably 5 weeks from being removed from propogation cover and are only like 12 inches. That's cool Matt. Gotta try this new stuff out . Does basil just grow like a weed? I have a zuccini that grew roots like mad but none of my other plants.

  • Looks like interesting stuff. A nice alternative to your loose fill product.

  • so is this stuff like mapito ?? i dont think we have it here in the states but mapito seems to be all the rage in europe
