What's with those colored lights in the subway windows as the train drives past 'em? When I'm on the MBTA subways in Boston, I see fluorescent lights in the tunnel.
That's because aside from San Fran, the public transit in every other city sucks. Actually getting to see a transit system that's good is one rare sight.
There are really 2 places I really want to check out.. I have never been to California or New York. But the only big city I have ever been to is Denver. On the Highway on the way to Donna TX I passed through Houston, but I didn't get the chance to look around. I think New York would be Amazing.. but I am not sure where I would go or what I would do there. Same with California. I might go see that Golden Bridge.. Can't remember where that is, planning is key I guess...
I rode the subway in los angels and also the metro red and green line that ran above ground it was fun and i miss living their and riding them what i don't miss is the cost of living,
@cmurphy31Iam The Cost of living? If you aim at Hollywood, Malibu, and the like but not if you aim at east l.a. I live in L.A. and pay only $425.00 a month.
yes - why cant everyone live in NYC- you only have to mkae 2000k per year to afford a 1 bedroom apartment. doesnt everyone make a quarter of a milliion dollars a year/ Why doesnt everyone make that- how unfair!
i mean san francisco BART! u know...one thing...is that hong kong's railway is the best comparing to the american subways, cause they polish the rails, so that it produces less noise, as if we're floating on the tracks...
i remember riding the NY subway throgh manhattan at night all the time....the passengers on there always looked so tired, depressed, worn down and just pitiful really
@mratliff2111 HA...did i strike a nerve? I usually get off of work at night around that time, "jackass," and i sure as hell don't look as downtrodden as the ppl on a NY subway.....most of those ppl are like zombies
Wow, this video is at least two or three years old. It's an R-42 subway car on the Manhattan-bound (L) train, passing through the 14th Street Tunnel and arriving into First Avenue.
new york city is a huge place. i think most outsiders who have never been only think of manhattan when they think of NYC. there's much more in nyc than that. like any place you have your dirty, unsafe places and your rich, clean places.
i've been there the metro cards have pandas on them and says welcome to Washington DC there is only 5 lines which are the Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Green. II also remember the Red line goes to Shady grove
I love the noise. Maglev for NYC would cost in the hundreds of billions and would be extremely inefficient, since NYC subways don't travel anywhere near the speeds required to make maglev efficient. In fact, if they did, the acceleration alone would make everyone fall ;)
Hehe, funny. I actually wish it was my daily hell... I'm thinking of spending my last year of college as a trainee in NY, so I'm currently working on a social network.
FYI: The MTA now uses new swbway cars on some lines that have a recorded voice telling you what stop is coming and which lines you can transfer to. Much different then the older trains where you have the hard to hear conductor talking on the speaker.
I have to agree. Atlanta has trains, but they don't get close enough to anything to make them worthwhile. We need more intricate system. NYC subway is a trip to hell, but it does its job very well... When in NY I love it!
