I think it's a really good idea. It helps the economy and the people's health. The thing is that people who are already obese tend to be really poor. Don't get me wrong, there are literally tons of successful fat people in the US, but since fattening foods tend to be less expensive, poor people pay for fattening foods.

I think this is an amazing idea! Although the numbers they use may work for them they obviously wouldn't match the rest of the world. Another way of deciding if you were over weight would need to be used besides waist size.

Um... I like the concept (encouraging healthiness, staying active, and not overeating), but the application is off... Waste size isn't at all the best measurement for healthiness/obesity.

For example, I'm 6'8". I average about 230 pounds in weight. My waste size is 38. If I went down to even 34, my bones would have to shrink! :P

A much better system would be based on a body-fat measurement, or even BMI. waste size is too arbitrary :P

Also you are also just overweight by 3-5lbs. Now also account that some of your weight could come from a large frame and height, as well as muscle mass.(say you have an active job or the like)

In addition, if a person was, say very muscular, their weight and waistline may not be in the deemed "healthy" range, but they are perfectly healthy if not healthier than the skinny guy.
