I live in Phoenix, big city, and have an awesome postal worker. I am disabled and if I have a big package or certified mail, she brings it to my door instead of the community box (we have like 20 boxes in one big casing. This is above and beyond, and for that, I give her a gift card to starbucks etc.

You think you could make a quick vid showing how to drive that van from the middle? Seems like it would take some getting used to for sure. I always assumed that the USPS would help carriers locate right-hand drive vehicles. All the rural vehicles at the post office near me are righthand drive Jeep Wranglers
Belgian mailboxes have slots and no "flags. You can only open the box from the back to get the mail and it has a lock. But large packages won't fit in the slot, although that doesn't matter because packages are mostly delivered by private mail companies like UPS.
I work for a pharmacy that delivers. One lady who always gets her drugs delivered has a little toy chihuahua that does not shut up at any time while you're at her place, comes running out, and then starts chewing on your shoes and ankles. Another lady has a HUGE dog that doesn't even make a sound. It just walks up and lets you pet it.
i used to be a paper boy back in school...and god damn it's annoying when theres just walls in between the houses your delivering too, and a gate.....slows you down so much and in wales...theres lots lol.....youtube now has spellcheck? cool :D but annoying >:(

You delivery the normal mail in a car? I think in brasil the mailman just delivery walking regular mail, just when they deliver packages, they use a van! That's the reason why i never saw a fat mailman! Excelent video!

Buckshot may be the answer, but I guess it does depend what you're able to shoot fastest/most accurately with.
where i live if we dont want to have our mailboxes raped by ploughs we just cement in a solid steel I beams and then weld a 1/4 inch thick plated mailbox to it. the plugh driver will only hit you once before he learns no to do it again..
people in my neighborhood but there mailboxes in buckets filled with cement so in the winter they can move it farther in there yard so it is not hit my the plow.

@07rjw that's not a dense village, it's a rural area with long distances between houses and probably 50 mph traffic flying by. Not practical for foot delivery. This is how rural mail delivery works: either sit in the middle seat (your vehicle too) and drive your car or have a device that allows you to drive from the passenger seat to put the mail in the mailbox.
@07rjw You know why he didnt have his seat belt on or he was sitting in the wrong seat is because he is delivering on the right side of the road and he was by himself so he didnt have to get out of the car every 10 feet. Do you get it?

another thing you should add cuz im guessing you dont have to deal with it where you live, but over here in resdential areas, people parking next to their mailbox im guessing would be annoying...and cant you just stand the mail up in the box to show you have outgoing? cuz ID theft security procedures says not to put your flag up cuz criminals can know which boxes to go for easily...always prepared.
My mailman won't put mail into an open container like that first one you showed. It's against the rules or something. Like when we were painting our porch (where the real mailbox is), we put a cardboard box out for our mail. The mailman said he couldn't deliver to that. But if we put a cover on that box with a slot cut out of it, he will.

The US postal service is shit. No offense, but who cares what you like or not. You are being supported by the taxpayer and should be thankful to even have a job. Once in a while my mail man stops for a few minutes after putting my mail in the box. I thought he was doing some super important work function like packaging up the next bundle, looking to see if he missed a letter, or getting a larger package from the back of the vehicle. in my town we dont have our own mail boxes. we have about 3 sets of designated mail boxes. the mailman/woman comes up, fills them and their done.

@07rjw that's not a dense village, it's a rural area with long distances between houses and probably 50 mph traffic flying by. Not practical for foot delivery. This is how rural mail delivery works: either sit in the middle seat (your vehicle too) and drive your car or have a device that allows you to drive from the passenger seat to put the mail in the mailbox.

@07rjw You know why he didnt have his seat belt on or he was sitting in the wrong seat is because he is delivering on the right side of the road and he was by himself so he didnt have to get out of the car every 10 feet. Do you get it?

@07rjw here it's the same, delivery is only done by bike in Germany and in big cities even on foot.
automatic cars are just unsafe, with a real car you cannot drive when not in driver's seat. :D

@07rjw this is a rural route no one can walk 60 miles a day carrying 200 lbs of mail plus 60 packages...lol but city carriers do stop on the conrer and walk to cover a block or 2 then get back in the truck and continue on like that since houses are closer together

@garrity5 I know why he's sat in the middle - I did watch the video! I'm just saying it's not safe, mostly because of the lack of a seatbelt. And yes, the way he's filming could be irresponsible/ dangerous for a driver, he is quite obviously holding the camera in his hand and looking into the lens when he should have his eyes on the road.

@fire1169101 My weakness. Do you realize how irrelevant that is to anything? You posted a comment that was all around wrong. Mailboxes are government property. If yours is damaged, more than likely you can have the government give you a new one.
Just be cause were in 'difficult times' doesn't mean that people shouldn't try to help out their mailman, he's just helping other mailmen by telling people what they should or should not do with their mailbox.

@VuurwerkFan12 yeah but do you have DPS in the neatherlands? we sort every piece of mail by hand in a case before going on route, on some days thats handling and sorting over 6,000 pieces of mail

another thing you should add cuz im guessing you dont have to deal with it where you live, but over here in resdential areas, people parking next to their mailbox im guessing would be annoying...and cant you just stand the mail up in the box to show you have outgoing? cuz ID theft security procedures says not to put your flag up cuz criminals can know which boxes to go for easily...always prepared.

My mailman won't put mail into an open container like that first one you showed. It's against the rules or something. Like when we were painting our porch (where the real mailbox is), we put a cardboard box out for our mail. The mailman said he couldn't deliver to that. But if we put a cover on that box with a slot cut out of it, he will.

you're a mail man. you're complaining about mail boxes and their height, and paper cuts, and mail boxes with no doors. you're a mail man. there are people that go to work ever day wearing bullet proof vests and uniforms that instantly make them breathing targets. while you complain about mail boxes. be grateful you have a job that does that involve overly intensive labor. i.e. wrestling a 300lbs man that wants nothing more than to catch you slipping so he can take your weapon and kill you.

The US postal service is shit. No offense, but who cares what you like or not. You are being supported by the taxpayer and should be thankful to even have a job. If it weren't for regulations on other delivery services there would be no post office. I only use UPS or FedEx to ship anything of value.

Once in a while my mail man stops for a few minutes after putting my mail in the box. I thought he was doing some super important work function like packaging up the next bundle, looking to see if he missed a letter, or getting a larger package from the back of the vehicle. But after seeing your video, I think he making a youtube video about how bad my mailbox is! So that is what he is doing!!
