  • The Carpenters should darn well be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame simply for the fact that K.C. was an influence to every single female drummer on this very planet! You hear tributes to the women in the hall for their infuences on women for picking up a guitar, but why aren't there accounts of the first famous woman to ever pick up a drumstick, and not only wonderfully play the instrument, but also sing so beautifully at the same time?

R.I.P. Karen Carpenter (the greatest voice ever).

  • and to the one that gave a dislike: you would`nt know good music was, even if it crawled up to you and bit you on your poor excuse of an ass!

  • I get goosebumps whenever I hear this song. It reminds me of an old girlfriend who was very special. The year was late 1971 or early 1972.

  • One of my favorites </3 .

  • the world, once was mine...

  • The Carpenters (A Place To) Hideaway

  • Karen est un ange...............

  • I'm loving those puffy sleeves :D her voice is so beautiful <3

  • I had the album this was on...The featured songs were "Rainy Days and Mondays."For All We Know." and "Superstar." This was the Carpenters' second album. I truly enjoyed all their albums.

  • how could anybody not love this!!!!! SERIOUSLY! PURE MAGIC! Karen was a gift from God himself. if anybody doesn't like The Carpenters, they don't know what REAL music is! and that's the truth! Many new singers will come and go, BUT Karen will always outshine them all, she had a rare gift of touching peoples hearts, and that is very rare.

  • I Love You, Karen R.I.P. :(

  • I didn't know Karen personally. I certainly wish I had. I know she is with our LORD. I look foward to being with my LORD one day and meeting Karen. For the ones who know and Love Jesus, we will be there soon. God Bless everyone.

  • thank you for uploading good vid

  • Beautiful. There is no denying, that the talent that Karen had, and it was one of the best cuts, that were done by her.

  • This is one of my favorite songs by Karen.

  • I heard this song over the radio just this morning :) From the first note I knew it was Karen :)I LOVE HER SO MUCH :) SUCH FANTASTIC AND HAUNTING VOCALS :)

  • This song is hauntingly beautiful and sad... like life itself. I don't think this is one of Karen's most popular songs but it is one of the most touching, and the beauty and wisdom of her voice shines in it.

  • "dreams are for sleeping, LOVE IS FOR WEEPING"

  • Even at age 10 when this album was released I immediately was attracted to the use of English Horns in this song particularly. The use of French Horns on other songs were genius. Karen was an angel among us. Like many others I feel the tearing of heart muscle because of the void she has left in her absence. With our memories, and these clips Karen can be with us forever.

  • Lovely.

  • Lovely

  • what a wonderful voice... i remember when i was between 12 and 13 i tried to sing like her (:

    Carpenters forever <3

  • She's got a great voice, and I used to listen to the songs but she's always talking about this 'entity' that controls her and makes her do bad things, so I stopped listening to her

0.58 I hear you whisper, and I must obey (please observe the rest of the lyrics on the video)

  • @ZagiEscobar Kinda like the government, Barak Obama style - "I must obey". What are you talking about? It's a SONG! Where does Karen ALWAYS talk about "this entity that controls her?" Maybe I'm being bated here, but listen to Karen/Carpenters anyways, because she has a great voice! Unless you're Charles Manson, in which case you may be forced to sing in 10 voice over-dubbed harmony.

  • I agree with the above comment, anyone who said bad things about the carpenter's didn't know great music if it bit them in the #ss including people in the business who said they are the "goody four shoes" those people were just jealous of Karen's Talent which she had plenty of!!!!! I was only 9 when she died, but the first time I heard that "voice", and their music I knew I was listening to perfection! Frank Sinatra once said she would be the only female singer he would pay money to see!!!

  • Look at the Love in her eyes, Karen was too good for this world. Wow were we lucky to have a real angeel for 32 years. Richard Loved his sister & lives with the pain everyday. This is a beautiful recording.

  • Thanks for posting this...remembered the old days...teary-eyed watchin this video...:)

  • Thanks so much for posting! Oh how I love to listen to this song....Thank you!

  • Hello to everyone who recognizes talent. I'm taking a break from Ozzy and GnR for something beautiful. I like Sandy and Only Yesterday very much also. Check them out if you haven't heard them.

  • the best. I can never choose what is the very best. the Carpenters. could not be better.

  • If I had the power to bring back one person who has died back to life again...it would probably be Karen Carpenter. Even after all these years....I still grieve and and am terribly saddened by her passing. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think about her and all the wonderful things she would have achieved had she lived...I know she would have been a terrific movie and TV star by now...she was a natural in front of the camera. For all the songs she will never be able to sing....I cry for her.

  • @esb1250 Amen to that. My feelings exactly.

  • a lovely song by the great karen carpenter x

  • everybody everywhere loves The Carpenters

  • Didn't the same person who wrote this song (Randy Sparks) also write

"Today", a song made famous by the New Christy MInstrels? Hideaway is my

favorite Carpenters song....brimming over with heart and soul.

  • @BRUC2016 to me,she sang this song better than Randy Spark`s group did

  • i so love this song.. thank you karen!

  • @coolette19 I Love this song too. Karen is AWESOME!!!!

  • RIP Karen. I miss you!

  • Absolute perfection !!!!

  • This Channel proves how Carpenters are still being apreciated by so many fans of numerous nationalities! Which says enough about their music and how Karen's Magnificant Warm Voice and Richard's Genius arrangements are being liked so well and listened to on a daily basis.

They outlive the music history and negative comments and will never be forgotten

    CARPENTERS,

TIMELESS MUSIC WITH A HEARTFELT ROMANTIC SOUND.

THANKS TO ALL THE YOUTUBE FANS WHO POSTED SO MANY OF THEIR SONGS

  • totally flawless vocal performance..perfect..god could she sing

  • RIP. Wherever she is I am sure she found her place to hide away. Thank you for posting. i will always be a fan.

  • Wow! Thanks very much for posting. Powerful ... I'm speechless.

  • Listening to Karen sing this song is like having the exquisite dessert--Yum!

  • One of my favorite song from Karen... really had a special meaning to me... <3

  • still gives me goosebumps whenever i hear this wonderful song. brings back a lot of high school memories. i still vividly remember my girl whenever i hear this song. this was her favorite of the many karen carpenters' songs. thanks for posting.

  • This video is simply beautiful. It captures Karen when she was young, healthy, very pretty, and at the top of her vocal talent, yet with a remarkably mature sensitivity and depth. Karencita, what a jewel.

  • In the history of recorded music, no more than a few singers have come along with the ability to interpret and convey the emotion and depth of a lyric like Karen Carpenter. Listening to her sing a beautiful melody is like getting a mind massage. This song was a perfect choice to showcase her astonishing vocal talent. RIP KC

  • to me,this is the best version of the song.no one else could`ve done it better.karen,i miss you. you were a good person, and the world is poorer cause you are not in or on it.i grieve our and your family`s loss of you,my dearest lady.you will be missed

  • so beautiful

  • I love this song... "the world once was mine. I've saved my pennies for a rainy day but, where can I buy another you." Karen looks so healthy and beautiful in this video. I love her voice.

  • Voice of an Angel, Eyes of God. The Greastest Female Vocalist of all time without question. Karen was the most Beautiful & Angelic person I have ever seen, a very special lady that we Love so much. They continue to make people happy today with their music, & video's. They have made such a Beautiful & Positive contribution to the world. Richard, we will do everything to get You & Karen into the Hall of Fame. This should have happened years ago, The Carpenters are the real American Idols

  • Really Beautiful... I just can't say more :)

  • One of Karen's finest performances, and that's saying a lot. Rest in Peace, Sweet Angel.

  • I've never heard this song before. Wow. This could be the theme song for a movie. One of Karen's most majestic moments. Haunting amd moving.

  • a perfect pairing of a beautiful song and a beautiful voice. dessert for the ears! maybe you could also call it "ear candy"? lol

  • this is my favorite Carpenters song - and that's saying something. I can't think of a more beautiful, touching piece of art. Makes Britny and Beyoncy sound like braying donkeys.

  • @stimpp at best

  • @stimpp totally agree!!! there are so many of these braying donkeys nowadays!!

  • forever young.. forever beautiful...

    Her voice trancends the ages...

  • To Karen on what would have been your 60th birthday. You are still sadly missed 27 years after your untimely death RIP.

  • I listen to Karen every chance I get. There is nobody else I can handle listening to since (re)discovering her.

  • Thanks for this lovely posting, what a record of her gorgeous talent.

Karen, 27 years ago, on February 4th, we lost your worldly presence forever. But you will always live in our memory forever.

May you rest in peace, and may you always be beautiful.

  • Thank you for posting this great video. Karen was the best and I still miss her almost 27 years on.

  • It is an absolute joke that The Carpenters are not in the Rock an Roll Hall of Fame. Karen had a once in a generation type of voice and Richard was a genius.

  • To me, Karen Carpenter has the 'perfect voice' - low, rich resonant and melodic' full of Hauntingly Beautiful and sometimes - so sad. She really was an Angel in real life. So sad that she didn't find much happiness on this earth, but she gave so much Happiness and inspired countless Singers - myself, included - she was/is my Idol. Bless You Forever, Karen...

  • simplesmente maravilhosa a interpretação, Karen sempre supera!

  • Positively, breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL! That pretty much describes both Karen Carpenter AND her vocal talent! Obviously, (and sadly, I might add), God had a greater purpose for her in Heaven than he had for her in this world. Karen left behind a magnificent legacy of beautiful music for the world to cherish ETERNALLY! The memory of this young woman will stay with me forever.

  • my GOD what a voice! i could literally hear her sing everyday of my life! so warm, tender, rich, beautiful, intimate!

anyone with a beating heart and a soul cannot help being forever entranced by karen and her voice!

why in the heck are the carpenters NOT YET in the rock n' roll hall of fame?!

  • THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW. I cannot believe they aren't in it.

  • Nothing else compares and never will.

  • I love to watch Karen as much as I enjoy listening to her sing, because of her total commitment to the songs she sings. There is nothing self-conscious about her--nothing melodramatic--no vanity. Rather, (and you can see this in her face, as well as her in her gestures), her physical presence is an extension of her voice, this awesome instrument. She distills the essence of the song with an emotion that is both authentic and subtle.

  • "Beauty" fails to adequately define this performance. If the Beyonce and Britney et al fans were even aware of this, there would be 20 million hits here.

Why are my eyes watering? :-)

  • Karen is one of the greatest singers in the world..though it has been 26 years since she's been gone, the fact that her fans are growing and growing from generations to generation proves that her legacy lives in their songs and it will never die for she lives within our hearts..Karen is a bar of gold buried under the earth, too simple yet too precious..

  • I have seen and heard this video so many times in the past and the lesson in life the very song has been trying to give to all of us. With Karen's angelic voice on it, my it's perfect. I wont get tired watching and listening to it. We miss you a lot Karen. We love you.

  • A beautiful song from a beautiful voice, a very unique and rare talent she was one of a kind. Wish she were here with that voice today.

  • giddiegato2: Thank you for posting the lovely song of Karen singing. It truly touched my heart. We were both born in 1950. During my active performing career, I played & sang many of the Carpenters' songs that featured her. An angel then & now. - Penny

  • I was almost 10 when she passed away. I have a memory back then of seeing her on the cover of People magazine. If I only knew then what I know now. I would have loved to have met her. Yes, she met an untimely end, but I don't think she wanted to die. What a tragedy, the loss of her as a person and performer. God Bless You Karen!

  • oh my God..

if only i can travel through time...

if only i was not born on 1992...

    i really love karen carpenters...

    i love her so much..

it makes me cry to know that she's passed away already...

  • Lol, it's my old version of this video...

  • There is always a possibility of jelously. I just wish I had the opportunity to meet Karen. I did meet Richard a couple of years ago. What a Highlight!

  • Aperson is usually appreciated only after she is gone.A lot of people made fun of Karen she was an outcast. But after she died only then did they realize what abeautiful person and what a marvelous singer too. I just wonder had she lived thru today would she still be singing she would have been 58 yrs old.I think that is why god took her coz he knew she would have been appreciated better after she was gone its sad but its true

  • I think if Karen was alive today, and I don't mean this to be cruel, I honestly don't think Richard would have been marride. He has a beautiful wife and 5 beautiful children.

  • oh how come?u think Karen would be in the way of him marrying. You know Karen got married first and richard didnt get in her way.

  • Karen's hairdresser said the same thing in a tv special and I agreed with her opinion.

  • oh i dont think so.Karen maybe was a bit jealous of richard s gf s but i dont think she would be in the way of anyone he wanted to marry.

  • As always she is absolutely amazing

  • Only those with a trained ear and some true musical knowledge would be able to appreciate this - like myself (who got ridiculed for liking them. The Carpenters had to endure a lot of criticism over the years. Anyone who has ever said a bad word against them just hasn't got a clue.

  • Were you ridiculed for this? Me too...

It made me love their music more and more.

  • very honest comment.

  • I absolutely agree.

  • @transvestitecity I agree that they were brilliant in the early years, but stopped being interesting (with a few exceptions) in the mid-70's. They were the seminal pop band from 1970-1974, however. They performed pretty much every song they covered better than the original artist did.

  • @transvestitecity You can't say it any better than you did- thank you so much. She was one special lady with a gift of a much higher power.

  • @transvestitecity So true...well spoken....Hideaway is such a hauntingly beautiful song.Perfected by Karen and Richard :)

  • thanks! beautiful!

  • The perfect quality of the alto, the deep conviction, the undercurrent of loss -- no one could carry the torch songs quite like Karen. Bellisima.

  • Very well stated.

  • thanks for posting... one of her best songs.

  • beautiful song by The Carpenters!!! Karen's voice is so wonderful in this song. Very sad song indeed but Karen sings it beautifully!! Miss her terribly and love The Carpenters music. They are the best!!!

  • BEYOND sweet, this is!

  • Today we light a candle for Karen Carpenter and we open a bottle of Montrachet. 25 years after she left us for the other angels she is still in our hearts.

  • I think this song is so beautiful because it has a touch of sadness.

  • Beautiful music, beautifully sung, but terribly sad lyrics, as "Love is for weeping."

  • It took so long for me to download this song... So hard to find!

Absolutely worth it. One of the most beautiful songs ever.

  • I always like this song very much..brings back a lot of memories...fantastic!!! strikes a very soft chord in my heart whenever I listen to it...

  • terrific !!!!!!!!!!
