Well there are drums in many cultures but this video looks like a band from a predominantly black high school. And this style of drumming and battling has been popular for bands at all black schools since before i was born. Hence, reference to my father who is over 60 and the assertion that it preceded the movie "Drumline." But drums are MOST certainly associated with African Americans. Virtually any African American music form is heavily rooted in drums from, R&B, Hip-Hop, Blues, Jazz.

He switched me (a tenor) with a tuba halfway through the second song, then realized what he did and basically had me flying back 30 yards during a halt.
