  • man and here i thought u can just push the plane through the wood easily but then i realized u were just pretending for the sake of looking good sigh. u cant really pus h a plane through wood that easily.

  • @luckduck32167

what are you even talking about? are you saying this video is fake? or are you just that stupid?

  • I just finished up restoring a few old planes and after seeing this I plan on going with these blades if I can. Thanks

  • I think I'll get one of those. Thanks.

  • How can Mr Cosman have a patent for the

slots in the chipbreaker? This has been done

    before.

  • the best planes i've ever come across are the old Sheffield made Record planes

  • Good video Rob, just get rid of the annoying music. Thanks

  • When you consider the cost of the video, the blades, the old plane, tax & shipping plus the time invested in implementing the fix...it is much cheaper to get the high-quality plane it tries to imitate.

I really wonder why Mr Cosman - who claims the trcik is in the blade and has access to a top blade maker - has not partnered with a current plane manufacturer to produce a top-quality plane at a heavily discounted price. That wopuld be much better for his customers.

  • @irvpix

For now the DVD comes free with the blade/breaker set and the process takes less than an hour (hence the value of the DVD). The intent was to refurbish that old hand-me-down as a means of getting someone into hand tools! As for the comment "produce a top-quality plane at a heavily discounted price." that would be the "trick"!

    Hi, Rob

I really meant it. Why not pick a decent plane from the many on the market now and begin producing it with the new blade out of the box? That woul be far more effective - and useful for beginners like me - than fixing units at a cost over $140.

  • Good video, thanks

  • I took a class with Rob this past weekend. After working all day we came back to clean the shop. At 10:00 pm I brought in a horrific 5 1/2 Bailey that I paid $20 for. The handle was busted, the sole had pits you could hide in. We spent 45 minutes prepping the plane to accept the IBC combo. At 10:45 pm ...shavings of .0004" off of this old Bailey plane. WOW!! The best we could do earlier with a brand new Lie-Nielsen 5 1/2 was .0009". Thanks Rob Remember it's not the plane...It's the blade!!
