The dominance theory is outdated and has been proven wrong by the wolf biologist that started the "dominance theory" himself! Plus, many dogs naturally do not like their space being invaded. When two dogs are in close quarters and they allow themselves to touch (like sleeping next to each other), it means they are both comfortable with each other. At the end of the video, the "dominant" dog is actually displaying "calming signals" which basically means "hey I dont want to interact right now!"
Could you perhaps give me a link for an article about this or something? I have been confused about this particular subject, and I have found a lot of conflicting information online. It would be very appreciated!
wow that was a bit hard to watch as it's NOT "playing" but they sure did make a lot of noise and teeth showing....thankfully it looked/looks like things worked out alright in the end
lol^^ don't worry, that's not true aggression right there. More so warning, posturing, intimidation even. They're part wolves, it's how their social order works.
Yes, there was. Lakota was laying on the bed, he's the more dominant one, then Kapu jumped up on the bed with him. This bothered Lakota, but he didn't respond until Kapu raised his head over Lakota's shoulder. Kapu has been challanging Lakota's dominance more and more as he approaches adult hood and in this video he is taking a more dominant role but lifting his head high over Lakota. Near the end, Lakota stands up to gain controll again and then the situation dwindles.
I would agree with you. It seems that Kapu wants to think that he can be dominant, but in the end Lakota has a stronger will. Great video, I wish more dogs could talk things out like this instead of getting violent.
I love this. As an owner of four dogs it is interesting to see the the 'internal' politics that can prevail amongst our canine friends. In someways its tempting to intervene - in other ways it really says 'piss off' human and let K-9s take care of this. They do settle their own grudge matches, king pin and king of the hill settlements alot better than we do.

There was no dominant body language displayed by either one. This is more like complaining. Very fun to watch. Quite funny!
