Was about to say the same thing. Snowboard helmet sometimes gets a little jarred after a hard landing, and I do the same head shake.

The main reason is mentioned below. The helments can move easily and after about 3 wears they mould around your head. When landing pretty much any jumps its going to slip, its mainly just a comfort thing.

I know I used to do it when I raced and I know and see many other competitors do it.
