  • does it takes time to read where your opponent going to punch?

  • awsome teacher, i like his foot movement

  • how about evading upper cuts?

  • beautiful

  • Boxing will always be there. As long as there are people around the world who are not fortunate enough to train in different disciplines, they can always hit the boxing gyms where perhaps lame suburban MMA folks would come in and practice their "striking". lol. Look at Manny Pacquiao - was born in poverty but still had a boxing gym available to him. People like him today don't have the money or available resources for MMA.

  • good teaching

  • BADR HARI IS CHAMPION K1 2010

  • honestly, I think that we need more boxers in MMA. right now, most fighters are good on the ground because in the early days and even today you'll see that most guys have a wrestling base because all the guys who are really good at wrestling couldn't make a living off it without selling their souls to the WWE. But most guys have terrible stand-up. Most KO artists in MMA just throw their hands around.

  • @td82394 You are right on dude.Ive been telling my buddies that for years.Honestly, strikers have finally learned that if you run stay away or learn how to sprawl, you can dominate a good ground fighter.Sorry guys but the stand up in mma EVEN at the pro level is down right horrible still. But yet I see so many fights ending in tko's.High level boxers with proper training could dominate mma if they only knew it.

  • great vid

  • Good stuff, I like your enthusiasm!

  • 5star video

  • grapple humping is super homo

  • fuckin killahs

  • It's not about GSP or A.Silva boxing just someone, it's about WHO you fight. A.Silva had two pro boxing matches b4, he won the 1st, and got KO'd in the 2nd and then retired. It's not taking anything away from him or GSP. In the end, it's not about Boxing or MMA, it's about the individual, how much they can dedicate to their sport, how old they are when they start, and who's training them. You don't think Mike Tyson would have been an MMA star had he met Pat Miletich when he was 13 yrs old!!??

  • Loved this video. Informative, easy to understand, and a very good technique (I especially liked the weave after the slip) 5 stars. :)

  • weight is a huge factor in boxing too!

id just say search for this "Boxer vs. Kickboxer".this inst a winning argument but it proves a previous point.

the boxers stance makes him an easy target for low kicks. and he almost gets his knee blown out.for me boxing is behind thai, bjj and wrestling.

i genuinely respect boxing, but its a sport more than fighting

a good mma/bjj guy could choke me and you out standing up!

looks like well never agree, if i was u i wuldn't take an mma fighter lightly

  • I dont take them lightly... but for some of them its hard not to. Ive literally had guys ask me to spar, and then come at me with their hands down around their shoulders and shit..... Im sorry but anyone who has ANY training should know to never take your hands away from your face. period. I dunno, you will never convince me and vice versa, but MMA is ugly, and the people who i find enjoy it the most are usually people that know nothing about fighting.

  • I respect your opinion and that you love boxing, but this idea that boxing is the best fighting style in madness.

but since when does fighting have to be pretty, how about effective?

    by your rationale

    1) boxers pro boxers could walk into an mma rules fight and just knock people out because their hands are so good (we know this isnt true)

    2) the best boxer (mayweather) could beat the best mma fighter in the world (lets say george st-pierre)

    thers just no way.

  • imagine gsp boxing someone

    there is just no way

  • Imagine a boxer fighting GSP in a Muay Thai bout. There's just no way.

GSP, BJ Penn, A. Silva, Machida, Maia, Barnett, Fitch, Koscheck, Torres, Aoki, Rogerio Nogueira, Rodrigo Nogueira, Shogun, Couture, Joachim Hansen, Lawler, Shields, Hioki, Brian Bowles, Faber, Sean Sherk, Brown, Jussier da Silva, Masakatsu Ueda, Jose Aldo, Vitor, Arlovski, Fedor, Frankie Edgar, Alves, Jackson, Kojima, Gegard Mousasi, Junior dos Santos, Akiyama, Thiago Silva, Okami, Franklin, Marquardt, Quinton, Henderson.

  • GSP cant even do muay thai he rather hug men on the floor with very short shorts.

  • Are you implying GSP isn't good, or that his ground and pound is weak?

If so, you must be delusional.

  • gsp is the best in the world at grapple humping opponents. that doesn't mean he isn't the best welterweight by far but his fights suck bj always gets after it.

  • if short shorts n n "huggn on the ground",in which gsp is phenominal, gets tht gold belt around my waist im g2 get a pair.

  • Just imagine mayweather doing jiujitsu with a jiujitsu player...theres a way, its just not happening

  • Watch Georges St Pierre fight. Or Anderson Silva, or BJ Penn. I don't know how anyone could call that ugly. These are fighters who are exceptionally talented in wrestling, brazilian jiu jitsu, muay thai, and boxing.

    They're incredible athletes and tacticians.

It's easy to watch an episode of The Ultimate Fighter and then call all Mixed Martial Artists unskilled fighters. But it wouldn't be anything more than a lie.

  • you only named three guys

anderson is the best so far.

  • this. boxing i dead sorry guys. its a great base like wrestling but its just not enough anymore. MMA for the win.

  • Nice video, easy and simple to understand.

  • Comment removed

  • okkkk. woah. boxing is not dieing.. and boxing is not the fundamental to all sports. thats fuckin retarded lol. MMA is taking over. Its basically a fact. Some people on youtube that talk about any type of fighting sound plain dumb. Half of them dont do it, all they do is watch it and if u dont do it, then u dont kno it. Watching boxing or mma dont make you tough. People dont understand that lol. fuckin retards

  • i guarantee you have never stepped foot inside a gym.

  • @MVitalProductions Boxing is the fundamentals for any fighting sport. Especially MMA. I'm an amateur boxer and fight MMA with organizations here. MMA fighters have no idea how to box, no jabs, no use of angles, they never read the punches, definitely no head movement, and they have horrible foot work. Which is why im undefeated in MMA 4-0.

  • @MVitalProductions Im a brown belt in Jujitsu but check this out smart guy, when some 1 in mma gets paid 30 million for 1 fight,THEN we will talk about mma taking over.and BOXING IS THE BASIS FOR MMA STAND UP!people will tell you that all fights end up on the ground but guess what genius, all fights start standing up.Mma takes all their stand straight from the play book of boxing........YOU sir,are the fucking retard.

  • @MVitalProductions LOL, some of this is correct in my oppinion especially where people talk about a form of fighting or self deffense unless it is MMA, "sound plain dumb". Only problem with MMA is they do not address edged weapons or fire arms. Yes you could say all have to do is run but what if with children or wife.

  • @MVitalProductions when people say boxing is dying i think they are more refering to the talent in boxing. Compare fighters nowadays to those twenty/thirty years ago you can see a big difference.

  • @bigrock123 I can only speak for myself but when I say boxing is dying I mean the pure sport of boxing. Fewer young people care, MMA is more like a real fight and is MUCH more exciting. 10 years from now nobody will give a shit except to incorporate it into their MMA game and even that won't be boxing because it will have had to change to work in the cage.

  • @MVitalProductions soooo TRUE

  • @MVitalProductions

correct!!! just little fat kids raising their adrenalin by watching it instead of beatin up someone in the ring ^^

  • @MVitalProductions u need boxing to be a good fighter

  • Believe boxing is very much alive. I've seen boxing at several places whit lots of participants and many MMA fighter has boxing as a side training to aid their strikes. I once trained Boxing is was fun and had a lot of good techniques.

  • I came here for the video can anyone tell me if what they are doing works or has any experience in fast head movement I want to find out how to train my reflexives from punches but also kicks and knees.

  • lol these debates are retarded, i'm an MMA fan but boxing is by no means dying.

It's like saying Football (the american gridiron one cause i'm assuming most of you are amreican) is dying because of NBA or vice versa. It's ridiculous

  • it isnt like that at all. boxing and MMA r both combat sports. bad example. but i do agree boxing isnt really dying, it just now has to share the spotlight with MMA.

  • boxing is not dying. rampage, chuck liddel and all the top mma fighters together career earnings wont add up to what de la hoya made against mayweather

  • ya but if u ask 100 people in a shopping mall who floyd mayweather is and the same who chuck liddell is i 100% guarantee u more will know who chuck is.

  • u really think that?

  • i know that. MMA is way mroe mainstream on tv etc than boxing. i am talking talking about name fighters fighting on tv, more commercials, more advertisement. just having old boxing matches and a lame showing on epsn classic and boxing at like 3am on espn 2 doesnt really help the sport.

  • who makes more money on ppv boxers or mma...dont answer because its boxers...apparantly that proves boxin is more mainstream its jus so great u have to pay to see how dedicated these guys are to a sport and how great they are unlike mma which comes on FOR FREE ON SPIKE.. of course ull see more mma fights because ITS FREE..but it will never be better than boxing or make more money than boxing

  • perfect because now i know how to avoid the 1-2

  • i havent seen a mma guy with hands nearly as good as a boxer. of course if switch the fighters in either case they would probably lose

  • nice work in the video guys

  • if he do that hit him wit a upercut wit the other hand

  • I ONCE fought a true boxer mma style and his bobbing and slipping was excellent couldn avoid kicks tho so i faked the jab threw a knee bye bye

  • i love it when your able to shove a knee into unprotected facial tissue... wonderful

  • Ya my MMA instructor told me not to take bobbing/weaving to an MMA fight, only slipping because of the vulnerability to knees. I guess your experience reinforces that point

  • I would've been a much better boxer if I had perfected my head movement. In hindsight, I got hit way more than I should've.

  • how long take it to perfect this?

  • Years.

  • I laugh at the ppl commenting this video saying these guys cant fight, im not gonna sit here and call these guys pros but its pretty obvious they have been trained in boxing (me being a boxer / bjj practitioner myself). But i do agree that they didnt really go over avoiding the uppercut. Also ppl watching this video its a boxing instructional video NOT AN MMA VIDEO. Obviously ppl would use the muy thai clinch and knee you if you used these moves.

  • boxers destroy mua thai guys

  • ur retarded a boxer will get destroyed by knees elbows and kicks if u think boxing is more efficient than muay thiai then ur mistaken because a muay thai fighter will get a boxer in the clinch then hes fucked and wen that happens the knees happen and the its sleepy time

or if u keep distance 1 head kick swinging to the back of the head knock u out cold

    so think about that one

  • for real man, dude thinking straight boxing is better than muay thai... i whould greatly like to see him defend his comment in a cage or ring

  • ya i hate ppl who say boxing can destroy mma alone

boxing is good for stand up but once in a clinch or a guard position ur fuckin done the boxer wont have a clue wat to do and he will get fucked up by knees elbows and punches

just look at tank abbot once u take his fat ass to the ground he cant do shit cuz all he is is a boxer same with ray mercer hes a boxer and he cant do shit on the ground (kimbo slice submitted him ha ha with a guillotine lmao)

    just to prove my point

  • agreed boxing is growing almost pointless, its a dying sport, hell for instince, compared to UFC comercials, how often do you hear about de la hoya fighting this weekend?

  • Ya true, boxing just isn't anywhere near as holistic as MMA. But I think it should be noted that boxing is still the best way for beginning MMA exponents to learn the striking basics of combination, counter-striking, choosing to block/parry/dodge, distance, etc.

  • I agree and Muay thai should be shortly after Boxing becuause it combines more brutal tactics and faster strikes

  • boxing is dying, and muay thai is taking its place on top, if you take boxing out of mma you still have muay thai a more brutal style that is a hell of a lot better than boxing, im saying that everyday you see less and less shit on the tube about boxing and a shit about boxing, and im not talking mainly about commercials its an example smartass. Even joe rogan and dana white thinks boxing is dying so dont bitch at me for having a diffrence of opinion. DICK!

  • If the great Dana White and Joe Rogan say so then it must be true!! HAHA. Kid you dnt know anythin about boxin, mma or muay thai. Just because its not on Youtube's "MOST POPULAR LIST" doesnt mean its not popular dumbass. Boxing is the fundamental to all these sports whether you want to believe it or not. Muay Thai itself is a great sport but will never reach the popularity of boxing or mma or generate as much fans, so get that shit outta here kid.

  • yeah i dont know anything about mma, boxing or muay thai considering i have an semi pro record in the cage of 6-1-1 and i practice Muay thai and judo... Yeah i know nothing... The only thing your proving is how much of a prick you are for attacking someone who has a diffrence of opinion... Great job... Number one in my books...

  • you do not practice any of those diciplines and you do not have any record. you are probably some stpid skater punk acting like he is awesome.

  • oh yeah arnt you just a badass who attacks people on the internet using text to prove a point that nobody cares about... If you dont believe it, your problem... Have a good day...

  • i do not believe it. i never said im a "badass," i just called your bluff. Also you spelled "mats" wrong in your profile, unless u have several people named "Matt" who lay down while you roll on them.

  • oh yeah you called a bluff that dosent exist... and for the record its called a "typo" meaning an accidental mispelling of a word genus... And seriously you need to stalk my profile to dig up dirt on me? wow you need to get a life...

  • boxing is not dying

    wtf??

  • Not at all. Its all just personal preference man. I personally (as a boxer) dont care for MMA. I find it to be clunky and not very technical at all. To be honest I think most boxers would pick an MMA figter of the same weight apart very very quickly. But thats just MY opinion. To each his own. I can see why ppl like MMA, its just not my hat is all. But boxing is by no means dying, its just not the only game in town anymore.

  • indeed to each his own, straight boxing a mixed martial artist and a boxer, im sure the boxer whould win because of so much training, but if you add all around kick boxing than im sure the muay thai in MMA whould rule up top

  • Agreed man. I will be the first to admit that as a boxer I have literally no idea how to defend against kicks or takedowns. If you are going to stand and punch with me, I will pick you apart, but a smart martial artist would never do that... and youre correct, muay thai is devestating.

  • "I think most boxers would pick an MMA figter of the same weight apart very very quickly."

in a boxing match yea... no chance in any other type of fighting. mma fighters aren't looking to be boxers, their trying to incorporate a punching style that suits all other aspects of their fighting game. And boxing, up to this point, is the best hands style.

but i must say boxing does teach excellent footwork and movement basics too.

boxing and mma are two different entities and you can like them both

  • Yeah fair enough man, but overall im still not that impressed with mma. For the most part they seem to be in pretty bad shape, their punching technique leaves so many holes in it i dont even know where to begin, and they telegraph everything they throw so badly i cant see them ever hitting me. The only thing im willing to conceed is that if one got me in a wrestling style fight on the ground i would be in trouble. But if one was dumb enough to try and strike with me they wouldnt have a hope.

  • agreed on the fitness thing, but its constanly improving..

your looking for boxing in the wrong place. boxing is something they add on to other skills, base skills in mma r wrestling, BJJ and Muay thai.

against an mma guy, you'd be on your back in seconds, seriously (me too:p i do Muay Thai). you wouldn't be able to stop a take down, defend a low kick or thai clinch, ur just not trained for it. as u said before, if their stupid enough to stand and trade..maybe u win

    look up Frankie Edgar tho

  • I dont see how blocking a kick is really any different than blocking a punch though. Yes Muay thai is a good art, but again most muay thai fighters leave massive holes in their defenses. As far as im concerned its all second to boxing. And you dont know that i wouldnt be able to stop a takedown, plus im a pretty big dude so unless youre massive im not liking your chances getting me down in the first place.

  • A middleweight thai fighter's round kick has two to three times the force of a heavy weight boxer's cross, and no padding. To a Thai boxer, the western boxing stance is just asking for leg kicks, and it's all to easy to land them. Thai boxers who have went into western boxing after doing Muay Thai invariably say western boxing is much easier on the body. I think it was Galaxy who said "winning a Muay Thai match is more painful than loosing a boxing match"

  • And i respectfully disagree. Every Muay thai fighter ive ever fought has been sloppy and not very good at defending themselves. The fight inevitably turns against them because they dont have the technical skills of a boxer... also in a bar fight, which is what im talking about, are you going to kick someone in your jeans wearing shoes? good luck with that. And if you take that aspect away from muay thai, its really just garbage boxing

  • So why do boxers have a loosing record vs kickboxers then? The Thai fighters with the best hands should be absolutely dominating their weight classes then, which is hardly the case. And yes, leg kicks can be done wearing jeans, and so can the Thai clinch with knees, which is vastly more damaging to boxing infighting.

  • Sorry not impressed, and probably never will be. Boxing is better than Muay Thai, and I would know having done both for at least 3 years each.... you can think what you want though

  • I think based on evidence..when high level kickboxers and boxers meet in the ring (who have more than 3 years of experience), the vast majority of the time, it's the boxer who gets a painful lesson due to his lack of tools. It's much more difficult to find evidence to the contrary.

  • Do you even do either of these styles? Or are you just a keyboard warrior? Honestly if you havent done at least a year in both I have no idea what basis youre commenting on.

  • The basis that I speak of is simply that challenge matches have been happening between styles for a long time, just look them up. As for me, I did Muay Thai first, for a year and a half. I moved after college, and found a boxing gym for a lot cheaper (which is the main reason I'm going there now) and have been there about half a year. I've also had an mma class for a little longer than that, which gave me the painful reality check that yes, grappling is important too.

  • And to my mind thats where wrestling fails. When you engage someone in a BJJ match, size and strength make a HUGE difference. In boxing its important but not nearly as much so as technique, intelligence, and speed. Im not trying to be a dick, but you have to understand to a boxer watching MMA is like watching two retards throw the ugliest punches youve ever seen in your life, while some jackass comments on what great style they have.... ummmm sorry but no. just no.

  • I'm feeling you.

This guys got no idea how well a golden glove boxer can scrap, lol put them up against 5 mma guys, talking multiple ko's.

  • thanks! excelent class!

  • GREAT JOB THANKS MIKE TYSON STYLE

  • i agree with everything.. besides raising back up with that hook... when you raise up, your also raising up into his punches.

  • after this they prob wen and bufu each other

  • see how my ass is nearly touching the mirror

  • Lol Dempsey Roll!

  • it looks more like BODY COMBAT to me hahaha

  • thnx guyz

  • some fag who thinks he can box

  • I bet 1mill dat dis gay guy cant fight 4 shit!!!

  • I bet 1 mill that he could whip your ass. Show us how it's done then. Get your own instructional on here.

  • Not sure why somebody has written 'gay' this is a perfect illustration of slipping a punch.

  • Useful! /Bow

  • i was always told to break my knees and come back up in a v type motion, it s hard to do but even if you time it bad you get a glancing blow rather than getting chinned full on

  • this vid is only 2:57 man...and it cover some basic stuff fairly well. You wouldn't become Roy Jones Jr. after you watch some random short clips on the interenet anyway. got to learn from the basic!

  • this is how ppl get knocked out you didnt cover the part were the uppercut comes in instead of just jabbing

  • This video isn't good. I bet he's a nerd and pretends to box. When people ask why he doesn't play any sports in school he sais..he boxes..which is BS..watch Mike Tyson, and copy him buddy..thats how you slip..

  • Good video and there is alot of crap boxing instructional vids out there

  • I love the smiling part. I like memorization techniques, when it comes to learning. Believe it or not, it helps most people.

  • Excellent! I like how you explain the simultaneous counterattack. If you slip and then punch in 2 separate motions, you'll probably get hit, but if it's at the same time, you'll do much better. Actually, offense and defense should be thought of as 1 concept. I can't happen without the other.

  • WOW amazing , great stuff!!

  • Wow...excellent work. I learned a lot...thanks bro!

  • Very informative and good vid, can I just point out that people shouldn't take this literally like what the guy said above about being in the pub. If someone is 'square on' which as a boxer is a mistake but your average townie piss head is coming practice..look to move away overhand/hook more

  • this stuff works...i used it down the pub last night

  • "If i had a pen on my nose and a white board it would make a imaginary smile line"

Im sure this guy went college.

  • Lmao!

  • after every slip you have to be prepared to strike back. Loaded. Without this is no sens to slip. This guy is not.

  • This is without question the best instructional boxing video I've seen. Fantastic guys, simply fantastic.

  • Excellent presentation and really informative. Thanks for posting. More vids please!

    BJx

  • Nicely presented. Good fundemental stuff. Keep the vids coming.

  • this is a uniquely well spoken instructor. I also thought the back would be more bowled.

  • Weird movement on this guy. Its like his butt sticks out way to much. He seems to know his stuff though.

  • i love this

  • those red glove looks exactly like mine. one thing i can never figure out is how much it weighs. i need to get 2 pairs so my friends and i can spar with same size/weight gloves.

  • you should try and use 14oz gloves for sparring to minimise any injuries

  • I really enjoy all of his videos.

I fight and coach MMA and it is rare to find good clips like this that adapt boxing so well to MMA

  • great instructor, precise and articulate. Quite amazing I should say
