Hey I have a issue with this board. When I start up the system I CAN go into the bios and change settings and so on, but as soon as I put in my windows 7 Operating system cd the motherboard goes into a kind of looping state. It starts and I can go into the bios still, but when It comest to the part where it is going to read the cd, it says "no signdal; analog" on the screen and everything starts over again. I have tried to remove the battery and the ram but it does not work. Any help on this?thx
@FreshnessBeats Hi, starting with the basics make sure that the sata power and sata connector are plugged into the cd drive/motherboard & psu. Try setting up the cd drive in the bios as the main boot drive. Make sure you are selecting the correct cd drive (the one with the install cd) when choosing which drive to boot from during start up. If that doesn't work try using a different sata port to plug in the sata connector...also try a different sata cable.
@FreshnessBeats Also, if none of those work, try hooking up the cd drive in another computer to see if it does the same thing. Hope you figure out and let me know if you do and what was the issue! thanks
@BoxeoP4P Hey! First of all, thank you for the reply. I have set the cd drive as the main boot drive. But I have not tried another sata cable, I'll do that as soonas I can.... but can this be the problem when it apperas to be running in the bios. Are you sure that there is nothing wrong with my ram? Cause the red light is just besides my "memok"-button.... and yes I have also tried to push that button. Alos I'll add a little bit of information to the problem. When I have no cd in the dvd-drive->
@FreshnessBeats Hi, if the RAM led is red, that usually signals something is wrong with the RAM. Try re-seating them. If it fails again, install one stick at a time in the proper DIMM slot. If it doesn't work again try using the other RAM slot. You didn't OC your RAM at all did you? if not thats not a problem.
@FreshnessBeats Can you check that your onboard graphics is enabled/on the correct setting? That's probably the last thing I can think of other than the ram not being compatible with that motherboard. You'll need to send some e-mails out to some manufacturing companies. I'd start with asus tell them everything starting from no video card, ram red led, to your specs especially the ram specs. Ask them if your ram is compatible with the motherboard. Something may be defective as well.
it starts up and ask me to put a cd in the prefered boot device. When i put the cd in it goes into loop mode. It starts just like before, but when the windows message should appear and be asking me to press any key to start the booting.... It RESTARTS :( Anyways, I can not try out the drive on another computer... do you know any other way that I can see if the dvd/blu-ray/cd-drive is the problem? :) BTW: thank you for the quick answer. Really apperciate it :D
@artglidden When using the x16 slot (the long dark blue one) they say to insert the vga switch card into the x8 slot (the long white one). Does it work without the vga switch card installed? You bet...What effect it has by not installing the switch card? Not certain, but without it installed I think it may automatically use your video card at x8 mode instead of x16 mode in the long dark blue x16 slot.
A little help if u will; i bought this board thinking i could utilize my current GPU; it's a ATI 2600 PRO; if it supports dx10, will it crossfire? thanks man.
@KingdomUploader Hi kingdom, if you are asking if the HD 2600 PRO will "hybrid" crossfire with the onboard graphics, sorry they are not compatible. If you are asking if the HD 2600 PRO can crossfire with another discrete video card, yes it will. But there are some rules when crossfiring 2 discrete cards. They need to be the same video card gpu (ex: hd 5870 crossfire with hd 5870, an hd 5850 cannot crossfire with hd 5870). I reccommend not using this feature anyways, unless forced too.
@BoxeoP4P yes, i figured as much; thanks for the info. i suppose the onboard gpu, especially overclocked, will be waaay better than the small card i've been used to so, as a casual gamer, it most likely will suffice.
@KingdomUploader They can be from different vendors (ex: msi and asus) and different GB amounts. But they cannot be different video card gpus and you cannot mix amd/ati cards with nvidea cards (for the most part). Hope I helped you, if you have any more questions feel free to post again
@BoxeoP4P so if i get another 2600 pro card, that will give me one gb memory between the two; so i'll then have two 'discrete' identical gpu's. now, will the integrated onboard graphics 'hybrid crossfire' togeather with the two cards? then maybe i could add 1gb of ram in the sideport memory slot and have total of 2gb's of gpu power?thanks for all the help in understanding this all; i'll be building my first pc today; phenom II 955, 8gb ram, 1tb hd, 750w psu and of course this awesome board!
@KingdomUploader Hey kingdom, no problem. First, you should look into buying a different video card, if you haven't already bought it. You can get a 5000 series video card for very cheap and with much better performance. This however depends on your budget. It also depends on what this PC wi ll be used for, but the HD 5770 costs are in the low $100s and will have better performance. And sorry, the onboard HD 4290 will not hybrid crossfire with your single, or double hd 2600 graphics card.
@BoxeoP4P okay, thanks again; i'll off this card on ebay and buy another 'one day' for now the onboard looks better than what i'm used to. i just got my rig up and running and wow it's awesome; i love it. thanks for all the help; i'll be seeing you
@BoxeoP4P thank you and you are correct in your assumption; i just ditched a dell duo core; it served me well for 8 long years! hoping the asus and socket 3cpu will go another 8.
the anti static bag is anti static inside the bag not on the outside so placing a mobo or another else for that matter is still at risk for shocking urself ur better off setting on top of the actualy mobo box
Very good unboxing. I am looking to buy a new mobo. So far i got my eye on the Asus crosshair IV formula 890FX . So checking out some mobo unboxings. Now i like this one,,, LOL . Thank you BoxeoP4P for making this video it helped a lot.
@Jerry2665 Thanks jerry ;)...Yeah this is a nice motherboard, looks good and can overclock pretty good. Also has onboard video card for back-up (which I like). The crosshair IV looks awesome too but a bit higher end, lol. Remember if you get this mobo, and you want to sli or crossfire, you will be running at 16x and 8x...Also a dual slot graphics card will make it difficult to access some of the sata 3 headers once installed. Or you can wait for the new motherboards & CPUs from AMD
Nice review :) some things that can be improved have already been said in the comments, and also some people will get distracted by music (so either make it quieter or just don't use it, entirely your choice of course ;) ). Keep it up man!
"There is no difference between SATA 2 and SATA 3"
On the contrary, there's a big difference between 3gbps and 6 gbps...you're only limited by the speed of the drive in most cases...improved power performance with SATA 3, etc. etc.
Modern drives still haven't caught up to SATA 3 standards, which is I'm sure what you meant, however they'll get there just like they had to catch up with SATA 2 a few years back...SSD's will be the future of SATA 3 I'm thinking...
@IHunger4Battle1 Hey hunger, thanks for your comment correction =) I actually meant to say that there is no difference between the sata 2 & sata 3 cables, lol. But you make a good point, ATM nothing saturates the transfer speeds of SATA 3, and many HDDS/SSDS do not even saturate SATA II yet!
