I love Mellencamp's music but hate his political views. Funny how he writes and records music from the perspective of the "common man" yet his political views take the shape and form of leftist, elitists, like Obama.  As if his political views should carry any more weight than that of the "common man" because he's a musician, or Sean Penn or Alec Baldwin because they're actors.

i am constantly amazed when people expect artists to be stagnate. Mellencamp has grown as a storyteller, if you listen to his songs acoustically they are all folk songs ~ he is a treasure in these uncertain times...he gives us hope and entertains at the same time. To those looking for johnny cougar, he never really existed.

Too bad the lil bastard forgot that he's also supposed to entertain. He has let his political agaenda take over his music. Come on John lets have some fun again. why don't you and springsteen go to summer camp together and try to remember that life ain't always bleak and so damn depressing. with what he has , great wife(finally 3rd times a charm, great kids, big house on the lake, and money for all the familys securtity) friggin try to smile and have some fun.

Love this story clip and the music. John is the quintessential rock/folk music storyteller. His voice is raw/edgy and the words he shares are pouring out love. He surrounds himself with lots of talented people, too! Looking forward to hearing the new album.

Fantastic tease to what's going to be something amazing! I believe this will be THE ALBUM of Mellencamp's career. Who knows what the radio will play but you know what, Who Cares? The album is so much more important than the single... Do I hear a Grammy calling? Yep, I do.

I have followed John every step of the way for 25+ years now (even singing with him on stage in Melbourne, Aust in 1988). He is "the man" in every way and this album is set to bring him back into the spotlight he and his awesome band so deserve to be in. Go JCM !
