killer demo... two different sounds, i do prefer the lower tones of the JC, however with the freq knob up it seems the JC can sound close to the GCB..
it only has an input buffer, which is there to lessen the tone sucking (the buffer raises the input impedance.)
When modding to true bypass, that buffer stage is no longer needed, and can be taken out, but depending on how long your chain is (how many other TB pedals in it, you may actually need the buffer)
just having a wah in the chain...id remove it.
if theres (lots of) other TB pedals involved...im not sure...entirely up to you.
I am looking to pick up a JC-95. According to the side it has a HARDWIRE bypass. I am assuming this is not a true bypass. Does the Cantrell model have all the buffers like the zakk wylde model? Can the JC be easily modded to TRUE BYPASS?
@dmraco it esentually means it not really truebypass bt it doesnt suck any tone at all. im nt sure about the buffers, also does anyone know what inductor the jerry wah has i hope its the red fassal
yeah jerry uses a talkbox i think...still with the JC95 you can get quite a similar sound for it. I got mine in the post today; it really is an awesome wah pedal.
was kind of hoping you were gonna do the opening solo for rotten apple but good comparison nontheless. Mine should come in the post tomorrow anyway i'm really excited :)

@leddeath80
it has an opposite effect...instead of making "WAH WAH" sounds....you end up sounding like nelson muntz
"HAW HAW"

Sincerely, I had GCB-95 and I changed with the Jerry Cantrell Model.
It sounds more "grungy". And I love Grunge. :)

I thought the JC wah was hardwire bypass? Either way it doesn't really impact tone so I don't worry.

what would the difference be if you bypassed and left the buffers in opposed to taking them out?

@dmraco
its essentially a GCB-95, so you can True bypass it and/or removing the buffers if you wish. how easy?,depends on your know-how.

Huh that's a set back. I was pretty psyched about the Cantrell wah but it doesn't seem to be that different from the common crybaby, doesn't it.

@MonkeyZo0
yeah i bought into the marketting as JC is the main reason i wanted to start playing guitar.
the wah is based on the standard GCB95 with a little twist ( simple yet very effective) to enable changing its voice from the standard GCB95.
id say its sits somewhere between a GBC-95 and Zakk Wylde wah.
if youre a AIC fan...you gotta have it thou...its super cool.
check out my other video of it on an amps dirty channel.
