Another idea: [look up Kadril Bouree]: "A 'bourree' is another partner dance, where one does not ever touch his/her dance partner. The dance comes from France and is sometimes described as the seduction dance, where one only uses the eyes to seduce." Was curious about the pauses, because a real bouree seems to be pause-less, with a constant instrumental drone of some kind (flageolet?, drums). So, can it be played downplaying the pauses, just lightly pausing?
Hi Nina, Congratulations on getting into the YTSO, like I knew you would! I'm just bummed I won't be playing with you; I really wated to make it. Anyway, I posted a video response above of my improved version of the Bourree Anglaise. After having listened to dozens of great performaces for the YTSO flute auditions, including yours, I gleaned some things and I added one or two more embellishments to my performance. BTW, I'm going to hear Emmanuel Pahud live next month at Carnegie Hall!! :-)
Hi, Nina, i liked very your video. tanks you. I want buy a flute, i wont that your me to recommend a kind or model of flute. very tanks, and excuse my english. Atte. Dorfell.
This is just simply outstanding! Your comments about finding your own style are right on the money. I'm sure you have helped many, many a musician with this.
ehi Nina!! thanks for posting this video, It's a great masterclass and I completely agree with you! If you want tell me what you think about my own way to play this piece, I care so much about your opinion..
I agree with you, what you are telling about the dances, the string instruments and also about interpretation of bach (everyone has to find his own way..). Very good video. Thank you. Now I go to part 2...
I love this piece, I played it in seventh grade, and I agree with what you said, but one thing, is about style. I always give the first sixteenth note full value, acting as if it were somewhat legato, and not restained, in a sense of expressiveness.
Lovely video, and makes me want to clean up a lot of me technique. I'm still trying to perfect that Eroica by Tan Dun.

Dont want to be too critical, but for my liking you make too much vibrato for Bach.
Listen to Emanuel Pahud, he can play modern flute almost like a baroque flute.
Also I find you are recently hunching your back, not good for your posture and back...sorry!
