when i plug my iphone 3g into the comp with quickpwn running and without itunes running the quickpwn does not read that there is a iphone plugged in. i have all the software requirements. is there anyhing i have to do?
ok so now ive done what you've said and changed the usb ports. restored the iphone to all normal settings. reran the pwnage tool. entered dfu mode then itunes opens and gives me this warning.
An ipod has been detected but cant be identified properly.
1. Before you start the jailbreaking process (with official Apple firmware installed), uncheck the box that says open iTunes when connected.
2. Follow all the directions from Pwnage Tool.
When finished it will tell you to quit Pwnage Tool.
After you quit, iTunes will see your iPhone is in DFU restore mode. Press OK when you get Error 2001, then unplug the USB from you iPhone and plug it back in.
Hold down the Option key and hit the restore button, select your custom firmware.
I still have the exact same problem as give me attitude. I enter dfu mode then my itunes proceeds to screw me over and says my iphone is detected but cant be opened properly pls help
There are a number of things you could try. First, restore your phone back to Apple firmware, then close iTunes. Use another USB port on your computer and then follow the Pwnage Tool steps again. Make sure that Pwnage Tool closes before you do anything in iTunes. Let me know if you still need help!
I've been doing this for ages and it still doesn't work. I followed your instructions up till the bit where we've successfully put the phone in DFU mode. But then that's when my iTunes kind of pops out with an error message and then it undetects my phone so I can't restore it. What do I do? :'-(
Pls help. I have installed all the needed applications. When pwnage tool is finished and itunes start itunes comes up with an error saying my iphone has been found but cant be opened in itunes. i am using os x 10.5.5
I need some help. I jailbreak my iphone and it works fine, the only problem with it is that when i am done, it says in the "about" that there is no network. it also says (null) (null) under where the carrier (or whatever it is) is.
I was wondering if you knew anything about this problem and have a solution?
My baseband is at 2.30.03, but as I showed in the video I updated my carrier settings. If you're concerned about baseband I'm assuming you want to unlock your phone to use it on another carrier. This tutorial was not made for unlocking-related jailbreaks. As stated in the intro it is for legitimate iPhone 3Gs through an Apple-approved carrier only.
i jailbroke my phone a few weeks ago and it stopped letting me make calls.. everytime i would the phone app thing would crash... i then restored my iphone back to factory and tried to jailbreak again but whenever i enter DFU mode it detects an error and i cant seem to jail break it cuz it goes to normal... anything else i can do to jailbreak it...
If you're restoring from a backup in iTunes it may freeze if you have a lot of applications. You could try deselecting "auto sync applications" (and then click sync to apply the change) before you backup/jailbreak, or you could try starting a new device instead of restoring from a backup after the new firmware is installed and then syncing your apps back to your device. Let me know if this helps!
Restore your device to normal firmware and run Pwnage Tool again. Make sure to close Pwnage Tool before iTunes opens or before you do anything in iTunes. Also make sure you are restoring with the firmware immediately after you are in DFU mode. If you hit restore and then try to load the firmware during "restore from backup" this will not work. Let me know if you still need help!
If your phone does not make any calls then you probably didn't uncheck "activate the phone" in Pwnage Tool. Restore your phone back to official Apple firmware and try again!

This tutorial is not for Quickpwn. It is for Pwnage Tool.
