  • There making this harder then what it really is to be honest

  • you can do all this by yourself... i mean everything so it only costs equipment

  • You don't need to be a billionaire to do this kind of stuff. I'm almost done remodeling my basement to look similar and it's only $1000 to a contractor...now the audio/video equipment is another thing- if it's your hobby, you will end up amassing a ton of crap over time.

  • and dont forget the permits

  • I wanna be a billionaire.

  • @MagnusRulerHardt so fuckin bad

  • QuietRock 545THX, man... I should get that and do the Double layer QuietRock on both sides with the Double wood studs... I got a 1,800w RMS 12" Subwoofer. That should stop the sound, huh?

  • What 12" Sub plays 1,800 watts continuous?

  • @slick1835 Car Sub? well it's 1,750w RMS SSA Sub

  • Nice video and tips on insulation.

I have been planning to soundproof my studio and add some acoustic material.

I have been hearing a lot about quietrock for soundproofing. Hopefully with all the insulation and Quietrock together, I will get a wonderful studio.

  • when u have alots money anything would possbile

  • how much did it cost for one sheet of that soundproofed gyprock ? (however you spell it)

  • where's the second part???? hello!!!

  • where's the video of the finish project

  • @poopoo178 Yeah, It would be cool to see it finished

  • I did all this HDMI sound shit and 1080p 52'' Tv just to find out that I only like watching charlie Chaplin films :(

  • haha at least u did it

  • @billnyethe1742 Hahahaaha. +1

  • hahaha!

  • How much was it to do the sound proofing in your room.

  • $3000 the Tv was $900 and the sound system was $1200 Charlie Chaplin Film $8.99 :-)

  • @billnyethe1742 Bahahaha!

  • @billnyethe1742

    It's true.

Regardless of sophisticated the equipment and room are, it depends on the SOFTWARE cos we can only reproduce what's on the DISC.

If our repertoire comprise of shitly recorded stuff, why waste money on expensive equipment to reproduce sub-std recordings.

It's like a 50K audio system to reproduce ABBA and BONEY M.

    Silly.

Or...you can force yourself to watch movies that u dont like just because the recorded video quality is good and impressive.

  • @zizzy60 Yeah I started watching blue ray movies and stuff just to get my money worth out of it...

  • I mean that is what they claim, those are some massive numbers. I agree that they are exaggerating, but the center is the most important speaker. They don't turn down all the other speakers, you just naturally hear it more.

The center is not going to make the surround pointless.

  • That 6 million to 1 is dynamic (software driven). The real native contrast of LCDs has yet to pass 10000:1.. And besides.. The human eye can only distinguish 800:1 at any given time.

  • i play video games and there is a lot of texture elments in the backgournds that i can see with contrast ratio of high end hdtv's but on cheaper ones like from walmart i cant see it inless i turn up the brightness all the way up, but then the BLACK is washed out...thus shity contrast ratio. I HAVE ALSO taken my fav dark scenes of movies play them over and over agin, then put them on high end projectors at home theator store, and could not see certian background imagines

  • Adjust your contrast, that is what different modes are for. I have 1 mode for dark games, 1 for light games, dark movies, light movies etc. Use the settings to your advantage. By doing so i can see dark textures. Specially in GTA on the PS3, i could not originally see the mobile pop up screen in game. I now can thanks to a thing called "Contrast Setting"

  • I used a shitty 1024x768 1500:1 projector onto a 120" screen. Perfect everytime

  • i know what contrast setting is, i know there is contrast and brightness, and there two differnt things. give me a REAL quizz on home theator anyday and ill pass it. and i still belife what i say. 800 to 1 contrast sucks, and " I" can tell a differnce in tv's with higher contrast. with that said im not writing u anymore, im much older then u and have studied this shit for a long time( i dont work,so i have nothing better to do)

  • Really? Now bringing in the whos older act... haha.. It should be who's more educated.

The human eye can only distinguish 800:1 at any one time.. You can see 10000:1 in 800 lot steps easy.. but not all 10000 at the same time. Im a physicist, human biology to me is the same as driving down the street. Second nature as they put it

Now try and disprove science, if you do.. It just shows you really are an idiot

  • I never mentioned brightness, you should only change contrast to suit the source. Brightness should be adjusted once and only once.. For the sake of our species learn to spell rather then reading home theater magazines. Do something constructive with your time

  • if all tv's can only show 800 to 1 and anything byond that the human eye cant see, then explain why a tv with 3000 to one contrast compared to one that has millions to one.....the higher one i can things in the background with out the blacks being all washed out.

  • The human eye can only distinguish 800:1 at any given time. That can be from 1000-1800:1, 17000-17800:1.. It is AT ANY GIVEN TIME.

  • FACT REAR SPEAKES SOUND BETTER BEHIND U...BUT ON THE SIDES OF THE WALLS, NOT DIRECTLY BEHIND U! IT CREATS A null EFFECT AND THAT IS WHAT U WANT

  • At ear level or above?

  • a bit above on the SIDE WALLS and behind u, so yes there on the side wallls...there a tad bit above your ear and a bit behind u, i have put a SHIT LOAD of speakers on many walls and tested and retested.

  • at ear level

  • Surrounds are placed well above head height and aimed downwards its that simple to follow! its not fucking rocket-science.

  • Surrounds should be at ear level. It is actually quite complicated and there is a lot of science that goes into it.

  • I AGREE!

  • Some just have no clue what so ever even these guys doing the install who are doing fine job are missing the fact that surrounds is made of multiple speakers spaced out alone the sidewalls and rear wall to defuse monaural surrounds or centre phantom and yet still provide location of split-surrounds.

  • Thats gotta be a rich family

  • If you get trapped in a hidden, soundproof and electromagnetically insulated chamber, let me know.

  • If you btalk to the Kalomirakis crew, they will tell you they hate quietrock. Does not score and break, so you have to saw it!!

  • Americans still build their homes with matches? Not learned anything from your hurricanes, floods, whatever?

  • lol this is true..

  • Anger much pal?

  • LOL yeah theyll never learn so why bother with them there waste of space.

  • The whisper wall and fabric looked decent. But aren't the rear channels supposed to be above head high slightly? And 90% of the sound coming out of the centre channel is going to make the surround sound pretty pointless too. It's just gonna keep reminding you that you're watching a film, and you're not engrossed in it.

I'm not certain I'm definitely right but I'm 16. Even I can tell something's wrong!

  • i bet these guys charged them a ton of money for something they could have done for a little work. And the house would be less likely to catch on fire. I feel sorry for them, 80-90% sound out of the center channel?!!!! moron

  • 3:45 - 3:52 wrong wrong wrong...i agree with the rest of the posts here...these dudes are dummies

  • This must have been done quite a while ago because 7.1 surround is the best way to go. Too bad they didn't allow for future expansion.

  • No point in making it loud if it's gonna sound like crap

  • Someone call the building inspector.

  • NICE

  • how much is it to get a home theater system built?

  • The narrator sounds like Leonardo from the original TMNT.

  • That's because it is him. Cam Clarke, the voice of Leonardo, is doing this narration.

  • what about the other half of the vid?!?

  • whats the name of the drywall called and where do you get it ?

  • The special drywall is called "Quiet Rock." If you Google it you'll get the link to their website as one of the first hits. The stuff is awesome, but it ain't cheap!!!

  • QuietRock

  • so he just goes ahead and screws it!

  • no he just means you can't screw it to the studs...it's fine to screw it to the top plates

  • I've seen that too! Even Foam mattresses! I just think that there's a better looking way to do that, because it seems like a cheap way to soundproof.

  • Really smart job, bet it costs a load

  • hi, do you have the rest of this video? tks!

  • No. Just this section. Sorry.

  • i wanna kno wut patrick is missing!!!

  • is it posseble for u to get the other half
