  • (3) Also USA and USSR did not give nuclear weapons to other countries. They just deployed them on territories of other countries and maintained full control over them. But again, it is pretty good summary and most importantly, it is not contaminated by any type of bias.

  • not bad overall but there are some statements which need to be corrected: (1) Khrushchev did not order to build Berlin wall. It was a GDR hardliner leader W. Ulbricht who ordered it while Khrushchev merely approved it (or did not explicitely disapproved it). (2) It was not China but the USSR who supported North Vietnam during Vietnam war. There was a complicated relationship between China and USSR at that time and later with Vietnam itself (Sino-Vietnamese war 1979).

  • Thank you this was really helpful :D

  • that's a really good and precise summary! well done ! i'm gonna revise for my big cold war test with your video !

  • Man if i was a kid then i'd duck and cover even when a lightbulb when out if that's what i had to watch.

  • Congratz you did well :3

  • Meanwhile:

Germany: "ITALY!!! QUIT MAKING PASTA AND HELP ME!!

Italy: "veh veh veh! Coooming Doitsu!

    ~pause~

    Ah!!!! GUNZ! helllp!! I surrender!!!"

England: "America! Go untie his shoes!"

  • I was just imagining an interesting hetalia episode.

America: "I'm the hero! Haha! France, you'll be my backup. England you'll be my backup as well!" *begins eating hamburger*

England: why do I Join sides with that idiot?! "BLOODY HELL AMERICA!"

America: "Dudes! I can totally blow Russia up 30 times over! Hahahahahaha!"

Russia: "I only need to blow you up once." *care bear stare*

France: 8( "I want to take a nap..."

Holla to my hetalia fan buddies! xD

  • @soccerballs12 If you pay attention to the opening titles you'll notice two people worked on this. The video was a group project.

  • I guess if you are going to summerise the 60 year cold war in 8 min for the gen Y goe bloggs I say not so bad, In the vietnam war and the afgan war, the US and the USSR trying to tip toe politics and not provoke the other was why it led to each of them looseing them battles, I just wonder what happend to that poor turtle after concussion, radiaton sickness looting, and famine later,

  • @chesterbesterfeild

Then don't watch the video, and I'm not the one speaking.

  • @vcelloho that means you copyed it !

  • @soccerballs12 If you pay attention to the opening titles you'll notice two people worked on this. The video was a group project.

  • @soccerballs12 You & @chesterbesterfeild are the biggest fucking morons. Do your own damn video if you dislike it so much.

  • AHAHAHAHA LUXEMBOUUURG xD

    Get your pronunciations right :P

    in out tongue ----> Letzebuerg

In English Luxembourg (like burg...like burger if that helps americans)

sorry for this but i laughed so hard when u pronounced lux like that :D :D

  • "Not on map".. Thanks XD

  • A well-made video, but spoiled by the narrator's weak voice and lack of good enunciation.

  • @MeatTycoon Isn't that just like every other social studies video?

  • @japtalian93 Not if I'm the narrator. :-D

  • 0:40 the map is fucking wrong dude. You just took a map of all current NATO countries...

  • inappropriate to use cartoons in a war video. it's not like Road Runner, people really die in war...

  • the first two maps suck dude....the first one depicts the eastern block, before 1989, and the second one, with blue, depicts NATO , after 2004.....

  • ah! I have a history test regarding the cold war tomorrow. This helps me alot! Thank GOD for youtube! and that I don't have to study 3 chapters about this! YES!!

  • 6:13

Epic fail photo of american propaganda, mix of cyrillic and latyn letters on the blackboard :D :D :D

  • 4:31 what have japanese nazi cartoons have to do with russia :P

  • dutch subs from 7:10 to 7:24 :P

  • You Are all rong crack head

  • This is good. And it actually helped me. Thank youuu.

  • @Panasonic295 Yeah the Eastern block was great! Forget freedom of speech and economic growth! We have state controlled medicine and public school communist propaganda! I'm sure all those people rioting in the 80's for freedom within their own country and for independence from Soviet influence were actually rioting FOR communism! After all, who doesn't like getting sent to a Siberian slave-labour camp for 20 years for trying to escape to the West, and constant food shortages leading to some of t

  • @GiveMeLiberty3

    Agreed.

Communism must've sound pretty awesome on paper. It has been executed poorly though.

  • I have to say that video is good nice job. But the cartoon is *ULL*HIT. First of all you showed that the communism empire is all about brainwashing, which clearly we all know that north america does that. In USSR empire peolpe were more educated, doctors were better educated and actually cared about the patient not like here in north america you go to a doctor and all they do is give you pills and thats it. Everyone who lived on the eastern block knows that was the better system then this one.

  • GO AMERICA!AND GO DEMOCRACY!

  • 4:37 is that reznov??

  • @clarkdsaf thats vladimir lenin

  • @clarkdsaf and @iisecretz are idiots

clark that wasn't reznov that was vladimir Lenin the first Soviet president

and secretz have you ever heard of the soviet anthem?

  • 4:38 music is in CoD 4 <3333333

  • the intro reminds me of cold war communist and western propagandas...

  • now ill ace my test! :D

  • I like the cartoons

  • turkey! hahahaha XD

  • cowardly Americans

  • @Biogem369 fuck you bitch who wrecked shit in basicly every war. you fucking soviet bastard.

  • @iisecretz hahaha You are an example of stupidity

  • @Biogem369 U.S. Secretary of Defense went mad and jumped out of windows screaming "Russian are coming!"

Repeat the feat of James Vincent Forrestal.

  • @Biogem369 your a pussy bitch probably from a thrid world country where you sleep on hay and farm corn all day for about $3.50 a week.

  • @Biogem369 also the us is the most powerful country and could probably blow your shit up 10 fold

  • @bilibob32352 These are your bedtime stories told grandmother?

  • @bilibob32352

Stupid and stereotypical. Get a life, fag.

  • @araprivet your obviously the ignorant one thinking that the russian military is superior to America's

  • @bilibob32352 the russian military is and was superior to america's military... just look at history.... america cant win a war without mutliple countries help. russia single handledly took care of germany while the allies were still trying to get past the german defenses on sea shores

  • @ENV3L

It's hard to say which of both is superior. The Russians were with more, but the Americans were better equiped.

  • @bilibob32352 ignorance is bliss idiot.

If you knew what the Russian military, and what it can do. you would have shook like beaten Shawky. I hope you do not have this experience.

  • my grandfather was in cuba during the missle crisis, not that he had much choise, military was manatory in the soviet union.

  • wait i mean like

  • this is not communism that why people can dislike this video

  • I stared at the flash to long and got vaporized

  • really informative

  • nice vid man, what grade did you get?

  • 7:55 You mean to stop western bullshit and influence from reaching the Eastern states.

  • @InfantryFodder93 no they didnt need barb wire and machine gun nests for that.

  • I like how you characterize it as "Communist vs Non-Communist". Its a lot better than "Communism vs Democracy" -- since many (if not most) of the countries in the "anti-communist" camp were quite brutal dictatorships.

  • @vcelloho

Why are you show history unipolar (NATO) instead of neutral?

  • Amazing thanx so much

  • thanks i need a repot of this in school

  • thanks i need a repotof this in school

  • In the beginning when you were showing maps of communist and non-communist countries you put Czechoslovakia into communist block...but just on the non-communist map, you put it in non-communist block. And you separated it into Slovakia and Czech republic (which it wasn´t until 1/1/1993)

  • The author forgot to mention that Austria was divided after WW2 similar to the division of Germany.

  • Heil NORWAY !! XDD

  • LOL EPIC MANGA PWNAGE

  • What is the name of that former USSR party song? I am just curious.

  • what is communism?

  • @whoiszizou nobody can say the suggestion just the presedent is making what him's want with the country...

  • @whoiszizou like basically the dictator controls them and its not free market like if they wanted to buy something anything it was only by the dictators approval and every one had jobs except they didnt pay much but people like it in russia

  • @whoiszizou look it up on google.

  • @whoiszizou who is zizou

  • How come, the Korean, Vietnamese and Afghan wars were not covered in the vid? These were important events in the Cold war! But I was a good vid though!

  • @colmcarrigg

    True, so true.

It shows how America funded the taliban.

Because, for one, the Taliban used Stinger missiles. ONLY the USA had stinger missiles. Russians had better tech and didn't have to give weapons, Otherwise if they gave weapons to Afghanistan, USA would be gone.

the only reason they got kicked out was USA funding the terrorists with mass amounts of weapons, and USSR was bankrupt from the anti-messiah Stalin, who basically killed the USSR.

    Why couldn't Lenin have survived!?

  • @colmcarrigg

The class projects were broken in to different periods of time and focuses. Our focus was mostly on the politics and posturing surrounding the cold war. Another group took care of the wars. I wish we had been able to cover those important aspects but alas time was short

  • @vcelloho Great video guys.

  • lol how would you take cover from a Atomic bomb?!

    but good vid. anyway.

  • lol he dont sound very enthusiastic about his report

  • nice vid, im useing this to help me on my history fair project, thanks

  • @littlebabyethan07 same here lol

  • I remember bert the turtle! he was in fallout 3! :D

  • watch?v=WZWfAOTiotE RUSSIA WILL DEFIT YOU~!

  • looool the anime XD

  • how does ducking and covering help if a nuke hits?

  • fucking Americans fucking USA

  • I love the Manga =) Btw. one of the stupidest things produced during the period is Duck and Cover. Stupid Americans.....

  • This video was extremely informative and interesting to watch. (: Good job. And thanks for your help (;

  • Like i would survive when i duck and cover from a nuke

  • The monkey is a suicide bomber! He vaporized and failed to destroy Bert.

  • The name Taiwan doesn't exist, The right name is Chinese-Taipei.

  • If PRC takes over Taiwan, is the U.S. supposed to start World War 3 over it? Sorry, that won't happen, but if it does, Taiwan will be the least of our worries.

  • @luridplanet Taiwan isn't a sovereign nation.

  • Comment removed

  • poland

  • dude thanks you helped me a LOT, and i have a history exam tomorrow :S

  • ii like the maps.

  • I hate URSS!!!!!

  • @Roblox20012 its USSR

  • @Chizzy963369 lol idk

  • AHH!! talking too fast! lol.. very informative tho.. xD

  • im using your video to study, great job!

  • there was no real military fights between USSR and the US. Almost every battle in the cold war was diplomatic. nothing else

  • @InsaneChicken123 True but there were plenty of proxy wars that the US was involved in.

  • 4:30 wtf with the anima junk? lolz...

  • fallout 3

  • There was no russia during the Soviet Union.....

  • jeez u guys did an extremely good job

  • woww ! double like !

    really good !

  • IB History is much better :P

  • USA won the cold war thats all that matters

    no more.....

    Communism(in Europe)

    USSR

    KGB

    Warsaw pact

    Berlin wall gone

    USSR lost cold war

  • it sure took you a lot of time for you to give us your analysis

  • very nice work.

  • nice video guys!!!

  • yanks just wants to destroy ussr by nukes after vicotry in ww2 (what a shitty allies lol), but soviets made their own bomb and yanks pissed their pants

after this started the war by propaganda in media and newspapers: USA suck! No, it's Soviet Union suck! Communists wants a new world war! No, it's imperialists making provocations and wants war! etc.

cold war in one minute :P

  • @Scoutrussp7 the US could have avoided that ANY other country be in control of an Atomic bomb had they not been so naive as to sign the treaty, making them have to "share" the world; otherwise they could have taken over every country as their own, Russia being only a minor pebble in their path.

  • Cold war started, becouse USA wanted destroy by nuclear bombing USSR and kill many of soviet's peoples to seize the Soviet-rich land. And they would did it, if USSR didn't make self nuclear bomb. Sorry for true

  • i hate the U.S. but i i'm glad they won the war otherwise imagine if those Soviet shit won

  • @Megashehri

I agree with what you say, but there´s no reason for you to "hate" that country...

I doubt you have any real reason to hate the US, unless your like all those other Brits who talk shit about America just cause they still hold a grudge against the US for winning the war of Independence from Brittain.... (even though the Brits had TRAINED soldiers, and the US had farmers, blacksmiths, etc)

please feel free to comment :)

  • haha so true. But were good friends with them now so there cool. We only talk back in retaliation. Never start it. British and Candians are such trolls

  • ya man thats why you shouldn't hate the US. The cold war is over in a victory and nobody wishes communism back...

even China is moving away from the ideology that has killed 100+ millions OF ITS OWN CIVILIANS. But there still ass holes.... lol

  • great video man, videos like this definitely help me out in school.

  • (un)funny thing: "kruschev ordered the construction of the berlin wall to prevent the eastern germans from running to the west germany" tough when I was living in Vienna and heard old germans talking about it they all said that 'till the middle 70's the impression they had was that life was better on the Eastern side of the wall... And that the declinium came later on..

Then again, that's what I heard from people who lived in Berlin at the time, it's not like they showed me proof of it...

  • I wouldn't doubt it. The balance of powers did change at least 5 times or more between the two...

one thing for sure is the cold war was not Saddam hussein gay little army with ak 47's... lol

  • the "western side" is the today image of the nato... with a united germany, the baltic states and so on...

  • watch my videos and come to my channel please whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • The start of the cold war or iron curtain between the U.S. and Russia was in 1945.

Russia invaded Berlin and took control of the city.

  • HEEEY!! Im Turkish but not a TURKEY!!!!!!!

  • but we still wonder what kinda tech will be used? Mind-control like Yuri?

    Superconductive?

    Dimensional?

  • I thought this video was excellent for a quick overview of (some of) the Cold War. And the Turkey was great :P .

The maps and video clips were good for illustration, and the narrative was clear. Studying it atm, so thanks.

  • If you look at the firlst maps yo'll se that some countries are both comunis and non-comunist,becouse the uploader used map of Nato the second time. :D

  • This is stupid becuase i am trying to find out developments and origins of the cold war but this is crap.

  • very interesting ...but i laughed my ass off when u said turky ...and u but a fucking "bird" ahahaha

  • russia-vs-usa . ucoz . com

  • Why do you keep saying russia?

There was no russia only soviet union during this time

  • Both Russia and the Soviet Union existed at the same time. Having one is not mutually exclusive to the other. The Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic was a politicial entity within the Soviet Union.

  • @vcelloho

From 1922 to 1991 there was no Russia, Russia and the other 14 constitutent republics were not recognized, the recognition was for the USSR and only for the USSR, there wasn't a seat in UN for Russia aor any other of the SSR's, only for the USSR, propaganda wrongly call the USSR Russia, but what can be expected from the US but ignorance?

  • @vcelloho

But, the actual nation was not Russia, it was USSR. ussia was not really a country but a republic of the USSR.

  • @DSHK45 Both the Soviet Union and the states comprising the Soviet Union were countries. The European Union is an example of this European Union which has it's own legislative bodies, courts, and many other qualities of a country. However the states comprising it are also countries. You could argue that the states making up the Soviet Union weren't sovereign and therefore aren't countries. There's an argument there but in theory they were autonomous, a quality of a country.

  • @vcelloho

The European Union is an econmic group. They are not even shown as once country on a map. The Soviet Union was one country, it is as simple as looking at a map my friend.

  • @DSHK45 Yeah and Taiwan doesn't show up as a country either, whether or not a country shows up on a map doesn't define whether or not something is a country. Plus the European Union shows up as an adjunct country to the all of the member countries on tons of lists. You define country in a very rigid fashion when the such a definition is much looser. A country is "the land of a person's birth, residence, or citizenship" or "a political state or nation or it's territory"

  • @vcelloho

Yes Taiwan does. Maybe it is referred to as Formosa on your map but its a nation. And according to your defenition I could also declare Guam a nation altough It's a part of the extended USA.

  • @DSHK45 But that's exactly my point. Taiwan is officially a province of the People's Republic of China and the provinces of mainland China are officially part of the Republic of China. The definition of country is just fairly flexible.

  • @vcelloho

Dude, Taiwan is a sovereign country not a Chinese Province. I have studied AP Euro myself in high school and Taiwan was set up as a democratic nation when Chinese leader Chiang Kai Shek and his followers were defeated by Mao Zedong and ousted from China.

  • @DSHK45 Look it up only 23 countries recognize the Republic of China as a sovereign nation. That list of states does not include the United States or any member state of the EU. The official position of the United States is that Taiwan is a province of the People's Republic of China. The delegation from the Republic of China was ejected from the UN.

  • @vcelloho

Look, Taiwan is a sovereign nation and an American ally. China is also a sovereign nation.

  • @DSHK45 The US is an ally of the Republic of China and also officially accepts the one China policy. This why cross straight relations and US involvement in Taiwan are complex issues. It only shows that the definition of a country and sovereignty can't be defined with absolute rigidity.

  • @vcelloho

Oh well. Whatever, Russia was only one state of a the USSR, they weren't exactly a nation. And anyways, your use of Russia is incorrect because it often time excludes the other 14 or so republics.

  • @DSHK45 The Republic of China (Taiwan) had its first democratic election for prime minister in 1996. Look it up. DSHK45 was completely right the entire time. I just had to take a final on US-China relations for my upper division UCLA class. Believe me I have studied this.

  • @DSHK45 For further reference, look up the Shanghia Communique, the 1st Joint Communique (1979), the 2nd Joint Communique (1982), or the Taiwan Relations Act (1979). vcelloho has been completely right the whole time. The Republic of China (Taiwan) had its first democratic election for prime minister in 1996.

  • @zach2688 russia was russia, the soviet union was everything including the satellite states

  • @USAsoldier1955

Fascism isn't Socialism and the Eastern Europe, China, Cuba, North Korea...not even the USSR was Socialism, and idio like a soldier could never trully understand Socialism.

Fascism works for the same guys as you do: the burgueosie

  • @Ubytsa89 Lol yeah they completely opposite.

  • Ducking and covering in a nuclear explosion would just mean you'll be burning under your desk instead of just burning.

  • Theres good and bad things to both sides.... Capitalism is for the greedy but a greedy person can easly overcome the innocent in communism......I say resource based economy trumps any monetary system....

  • If your doing AP history than you must dig it a bit. Check out Postwar by Tony Judt

  • the "non-communists"are called capitalists

  • @pieplicht there are more economic systems than communism and capitalism

  • Comment removed

  • @kangarradio

But those wee the ones involved in the Cold War

  • Uh, you are forgetting Socialism, Fascism (which you could argue is a form of Socialism), Feudalism, and a few other oddball economic systems out there.

  • @MrJohn2010

In Fascism the militia struggles for the private enterprises, and for the rights of the burgueiosie, the fact that the so-called Socialist states were military controlled places doesn't make Socialism a Fascism; DDR, Cuba, China, etc were State Capitalisms where trade-unions were dissolved and rights and freedoms were vanished, but there was no private enterprises; therefore, no Fascism was on East Europe.

  • @ Ubytesa89

I did not claim Socialism= Fascism, i claimed that one could say Facsism is a branch of Socialism due to it's many similarities.

  • @MrJohn2010

No, there's actually no similarities, one thing is that state Capitalism was stablished in Eastern Europe, China, Cuba, Vietnam, etc with the name of Socialism.

  • @pieplicht Not always.

  • @pieplicht ahahahah good comment (respect)!!

  • Duck and cooveeer....Remember boys and girls. When you see the flash, duck and cover.

  • Cool, it's nice brief summary!

  • this is why big nations are morons

  • Ждите ядерный удар !!!

  • great video :D helped me understand cold war better for a world history assignment :) kuddos
