  • this song needs the everly brothers!

  • unreal man.the king of peace sings another favorite song of mine. R.I.P. John

  • this is absolutely gorgeous

  • love this song... why do the wrong people die? :(

  • @palebluedot4ev who are the right and who the wrong people to die?:P

what a stupid think to say

  • @internazionalikos2 Who would you prefer to die: A serial murderer or John Lennon?

  • god his voice and the piano is so beautiful

  • Wow, what a song, it just shows the raw talent of the Beatles, and their uncanny ability to turn other peoples music into their own----it's sad that if you put all the talent available today....together, they couldn't touch the Beatles by .666%.

  • "The dream is over", the world is so fucked up. The same ole people still fighting over the same dumb shit. But whats saddest of all... its not the same ole people, its the dame ole mind set. If you wanna buy a van and just drive away let me know.

  • I want to go back in time so I can find Mark Champan, remove his skin from his body and force him to eat it, bathe him in boiling lemon juice, roll him in salt, nail him to a wall in my shed and keep him alive by removing his body parts and feeding them to him.

  • @BrokenChair88 come on, stop the evil shit, and remember all the good John done.

  • @soulman1950 Okay.

  • what are the lyrics to this?

  • only John sounds this magic

  • Quarry men

  • i always thought John wrote this song, but low and behold it's a cover of the everly brothers... Still I think I enjoy this version more than the original just because of the person singing it.

  • I love this song ! ♥

  • The picture at 2:20 is his statue at the John Lennon Park in Havana, Cuba.

  • i know that voice when i hear it, and thats john lennon.. the best Beatles voice...

  • Thanks... muchas gracias John... always on my mind...

  • Everly Brothers do it so much better.

  • @ctjbush dissagree. Everly's sound country. This has a smooth gritty sound that i really like. Either way i like both, just lennon's version more.

  • I'm glad it goes round twice.

  • Sounds like Lennon was trying to learn the piano part, concentrating on the piano but not the singing. First time I've noticed him singing off key.

  • @icanhearyoubreathing He's not singing off-key??

  • How come people don't think this is John Lennon? makes you wonder if they think The Beatles are The Beatles

  • This is not John's voice. Nice try.

  • @dingoyada Oh yes...it is.

  • @dingoyada Actually, you're wrong. This is one of John's well-known covers.

  • @josenros this is a john lennon "well known cover"?......i have been listening to beatles boot legs etc for about 40 years and never heard tis......can't be too common

  • @inkey2 I guess because you haven't heard it, it must not be common.

  • @josenros not after hearing tons of bootlegs for 40 years , no

  • Genius brings a tear

  • Come on (let the good times roll)

  • This song needs Paul to harmonize so badly

  • @pcrosthwait Listen to it again. He was going for a haunting sound (well, he wasn't actually GOING for anything since this was not meant to be heard), and that's done best with a lone voice.

  • this its avery good soong from the 60s i m in my 30s in ilove this song thenkyou everly bros....

  • This is lennon - listen to any home recordings off of the box set from '98 - same voice.

  • this is the only song I want to learn to play on piano

  • @MontegoJoker14 well don't get a very expensive piano if your only going to learn one song

maybe even a keyboard would do.

.. but then you wouldn't get the soothing sound the piano delivers.

..although ive heard the new kind of keyboards have a piano mode when it sounds like an old piano.. isn't that just amazing

    technology these day!

  • this IS john lennon

  • Cmon john, sing happier! :D but he sings GREAT.

  • LOL....this is the same pathetic recording JohnyBleed tried to pass off as the Beatles/John Lennon. I can't believe how gullible people are.

  • ha ha ha, don't know who this is. but it's NOT John Lennon. If you're going to pretend to be someone else, please learn the song, the melody, the lyrics, and try to make it convincing! A pathetic attempt.

  • @buttybags ...I totally agree. This mega-sux!!

  • I wish I could go back in time and stop Mark Chapman

  • @MontegoJoker14 we all do.

  • @MontegoJoker14 same here brother

  • @MontegoJoker14 Doesn't every Beatles\John Lennon fan want to go back in time and tackle Mark David Chpman, take his gun, have John Lennon thank them, then the cops arrest him and kill MDC?

  • @MontegoJoker14 well stop sitting around watching videos on youtube and start making a time machine

    YOUR DESTINY AWAITS YOU

  • @MontegoJoker14

Me to so very sad, a sad day,a sad generation a sad future. the man was brilliant...

  • @MontegoJoker14 And deprive John Lennon of three number ones? Seriously we can't tell what would have happened....

  • @MontegoJoker14 I wish I could stop Yoko

  • this is good enough to be released as a single,i think

  • Who said this is John Lennon??????????

  • John had an amazing voice .....dammit i miss him

  • i never knew that this song is by john lennon? I tot Everly Bros originally...i think john lennon is a genius....how many songs out there were recorded by him on tapes and unreleased?

  • @itswindy ......Cathy's Clown is an Everly Brothers song. Written and originally recorded by them. I know this to be true. I was around back then. And this isn't the Beatles either. Some schmuck put this together and is trying to pass this off as the Beatles. Pathetic attempt, really.

  • what a sad song the lyrics

  • awsome

  • Well no they wouldn't be together anyways. John just wanted to quit the Beatles and be alone and leave the band before he was ever shot. John also did not want to tell anyone that he was leaving The Beatles. Yet Paul McCartney told the press which greatly angered John. So it was just Ironic that he was shot and killed. So in the end they would not be together even if he was still alive. Maybe, I wish :D But still there are the factors that George is dead, and John may have died of something else

  • @StarburstPhotography utter stupidity

  • @enigmafia89 shurrup.

  • Its unreleased but it soung fucking great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I <3 this!

  • i am so addicted to this song right now, only this version though. johns a genius in that he can reveal the spirit in everything, even when just sitting in a bed

  • love the pic at 0.59. What I'd do for a voice like that....

  • Come on people, please!

This is a weird version of one of the great songs/great performances by the Everlys.

This is simply a 'sketch' where he tries to understand the vocals, the chords and the tones of the EB's - and struggles with it. Strangely, this is why it is so compelling - Lennon trying to understand American mainstream music.

Perhaps that's part of why JL felt he had to live and love in the USA.....

    cheers everyone

  • He was just playing this cuz he wanted to... John and Paul were big fans of the Everly Brothers when they were a young.. big influences :D

  • John´s voice is so incredibly touching.

  • @ringo9277 He loved this music so much.

  • @ringo9277 ...THIS IS NOT JOHN LENNON!!! Wake up!!!

  • Haunting is right. Lennon's voice was very special. Hits my soul like no other.

  • He's just messing around, but it's a very perceptive version. I guess any piece of music he touched became special.

  • you sound off key. ass

  • What a haunting voice, god bless you walrus. Is this available on a CD album?

  • your truly akon and a stupid ass

  • yes but I guess that's how he made his demotapes, if you listen to the demo of dear Yoko it's sounds alot like this with not all words...

  • Like he owe you anything

  • thats why its unreleased moron.

  • I would love to have the piano sheets fot that.

    Pretty song with John.

  • Man you don't need the piano sheets. It's only about 3 - 4 chords! Figure it out. What's a sheet of paper got to do with music anyhow?

Really happy i found this, it's lovely.

  • I would sacrifice my left arm to have a voice like that

  • i take it your not left-handed

  • I am right-handed :-)

  • There's something about this somewhat meager and tossed off recording that's just haunting and beautiful

  • agreed

  • love this version love the everly brothers too

  • far better than the original

  • I bloody love this

  • GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i thought it was fake at first, but after repeated listenings i belive it's real. amazing version with more heart & slightly melancholy than the everly's.

  • "Here he comes, that's Yoko's clown..."

LOL!!! No, only kidding. I love John Lennon. The man's one of my heroes. It takes some pretty big "cahones" to believe that Peace is possible in a world like this. The world was very lucky to have him for as long as it did.

  • definitely lennon, they are playing it on the radio this week with his bday coming up.

  • Sounds like Lennon to me. I never really liked this song before but this version has so much feeling and mood. I'm inspired.

  • how certain is it this is lennon? i don't recognise his voice at all...

  • Yeah, it seems like a rip off. It sounds like a John Lennon-sound-alike is singing this.

  • This really is John Lennon. He recorded it at Cold Spring Harbor in April 1980.

  • It's Lennon at his piano in the Dakota. Not a fake.

  • so how do you know?

  • this things been played on the lost lennon tapes radio series along with all the other Dakota recordings.

  • radio series? sorry i've never heard, or heard of, these. where can you hear these recordings?

  • It was a radio series back in the early 90s. Do a search on Google for The Lost Lennon Tapes. You can hear them on bootlegs and some turned up on The John Lennon Anthology.

  • It is absolutely John Lennon. He recorded it in The Dakota in 1980.

  • The song is in a beter version from the Everly Brothers.

  • i wish it was released, it is beuteful, i love it, amasing lyrics and as always amasing voice

  • where can i download this song?

  • This is a powerful song, wish he would have released a finished version; his voice is simply excelent when he sings this song.

  • nice song

  • Get The Everly Brothers Origional version.
