I admire your optimism, but you should do some research on chemical and biological weapon development in the United States. America is not perfect, it is wonderful and its history is amazing and morally conflicted, but Jeremiah Wright is not off base. Africans and white people come to America for its economic freedoms and the ability to make a life. When Akbar ruled the Mughal Empire, it was the age of prosperity for the land because although Akbar was Muslim, he hired people from every religion to serve in the government because he wanted the best. Although the pastor was wrong for asking God to damn America, he is right about the government being a bit corrupt. You can't deny that. The pastor's statement was irrational and stupid. If one doesn't like what the government is doing, he should use his/her rights as an American and protest instead of damning the nation. One must not curse his own nation or any nation. He/she must work to improve the standard of the country. The reward brought upon by hard work are infinite.

America is not a christian nation. It is a great democratic nation where religion and state are separated. If you look at history, through many significent events, you will see that if one involves religion into his decision-making political process, the country will be ruined. Therefore, we must not call America a 'christian country'
fyi, Obama is not even a Muslim. His father was a Muslim but Obama grew up in a secular fashion and then was introduced to Christianity later in his life

I am a black man and I was disgusted to hear the words of Pastor Wright. How could a christian minister spout such nonsense from the pulpit on Sunday morning? I would not last two minutes in such a church. Bitterness is not a fruit of the Spirit, and no man of God would use such spurious language. The heart of the christian is forgiveness.
