@het459 the hardest language from a poll of hundreds of votes is Basque but to be honest it depends what language you speak, for example if you speak Portuguese it would be easier to learn Italian than English. I personally speak 3 languages Hungarian Romanian and English and it was easier for me to learn English because i had the words of Romanian.
Does anyone else think Magyar sounds a bit like Persian? The pronunciation, especially of the a's, really reminds me of Parsi. I understand they belong to entirely different language families.
@gloomyoutlook Exactly. They are just trying to relate something to it. But really, they are much different. Estonian sounds a little simular, but hungarian is just so unique! Koszonom,
Yes that's a good way to learn to try to memory with the similarities to your mother language. Actually "cake" if it is "written in Hungarian" would be "kéjk" and not "kék", so an extra "j" (sounds like the consonant in English "you"), but otherwise yes, it can be said that they're similar :)
they say orange-yellow for orange. because the fruit orange is narancs and the colour is narancssarga, sarga being yellow :)

@gloomyoutlook They say Hungarian is most simular to Finnish. Not much like it! :)
tcfuturevet 2 years ago
verily, as a Uralic language. I think Finnish sounds like Greek :P Completely superficial comparison.

IndianaJones664 9 months ago
@IndianaJones664 pink is rózsaszín. now rózsaszín is "rosecolor" rose=rózsa color/colour=szín (dont know which to use, color or colour:D)
WelcomeLadies 7 months ago
@WelcomeLadies yeah now i think about it pink is actually very easy to say. for some reason i really like saying fekete. no idea why.
IndianaJones664 7 months ago
@IndianaJones664 :) anyway, we use pink too. so. dont worry!
WelcomeLadies 7 months ago
@dragonfist25 you can say only "narancs" which means also the fruit
and red is _not always piros_, you may say "vörös" like "vörös rózsa" (red rose) or vörös hadsereg (red army)
