  • Hey, how did you know when your birds were going to breed? Mine have built a nest and the Male has been making ALOT of calls to the female in the past few days.

  • Its so small and cute! :)

  • Aw, so cute.

  • "Mommy i'm coming!" xD

  • My zebra finch hen just laid her first eggs. Im worried about everything including whats ahead them growing up & learning to fly. LOve the vid

  • The baby is probably just learning to stretch it's wings since my birds do that when they want a bird bath from me. They learn to clean themselves by flapping.

  • Ok this is a serious question do birds have to mate to have eggs like have intercourse with the oppsite gender or does it just happen migically like they have eggs every season please help and message me.

  • aaaaah bless

  • Good

  • I THINK THEY ARE TOO SMALL TO FLY

  • awwww

  • to cute xD

  • cute!

  • ur baby bird is very clam and lazy..lol.... cuz mine are too smart and devilish like wild zebra finches, their tiny babies even fly and run faster whenever i attempt to catch any of em.

  • ya my grandma had 2 zebra finches and they had a baby and after a little bit the mommy and daddy died and the bird was by itself and i remeber it learning to fly.

  • i could use some advice my pair of zebras just laid 4 eggs and 2 are hatched already is it ok to hold the babies without the parents abandoning them and is it ok if i keep the babies once they grow in the same cage as my pair that layed them with the other female i have got the pair and the female gets along but witht he babies will the parents get mad or somthing

  • You should probably do a Google search instead of asking random people on YouTube.

  • i already did a google search but i never found anything on actually holdin them and keepin in the cage im just talkin bout experiencded people who already went throu this shit

  • Comment removed

  • You should probably not give animal advice if you are not sure what you are talking about.

  • @TLers they will be okay...just do what you think is right, you need have no fear, do some research and mix it with your belief,,before i use to have fear, and now i do what i think is right, my finches fly outside in my yard, and before i thought that it was impossible, good luck, hope your finches are okay.

    Blessings ☼

  • Hey guys, my Zebra finches laid 4 eggs, and I was so excited to see the eggs hatch- watch the chicks grow, but sadly, the first chick hatched a few days ago, and didn't survive even 24 hours, and then the parents totally abandoned the whole clutch? I fed the chicks all the right stuff, had nestling food, etc.. They look pretty healthy as well. What do you think went wrong...

  • Sometimes birds just do that. The clutch could have been unhealthy, or the parents may just not know what to do.

A good pair of Society finches will run you $30-$50, but they'll usually take over care of a nest of chicks if the parents abandon it.

  • so how is it NOW like now the vid was august 15 2006 its may 15 2008 now so how is it doing?

  • Both Morgan and Neptune are doing very well. :) They live in a cage next door to their parents. Neptune ended up being pretty wild, but Morgan is very affectionate and likes to shriek lovingly in your ear when he sits on your shoulder.

  • when i read the title it was like: a baby zebra learning how to fly

    HAHAHAHA

  • lol the babies are so overweight from being fed so much that their little wings can barely do much... it is so cute to watch baby finches grow up

  • When my two zebra finches laid eggs, they hatched and as soon as they got old enough I just picked em up and they werent even scared.

Just remember as soon as they get pretty big,but they're still a baby, pick them up once or twice a day and hold them for at least a half an hour.

Now they're grown up and they let me hold them.

  • We have two zebra finces that laid three eggs. Two have them have hatched. How adorable they are! We bought our two adult finches from the pet store and they are too frightened to be held. How do you raise the babies to be hand held like this?

  • Is it alright to have 2 male zebra finches

  • I had two male zebra finches for a long time and they were great friends. but then i got a female and, sadly, they fought over her and one of them died.

so yeah, two males is alright.

  • Good job with the baby Zebra Finches. I'm currently handfeeding one also. Because mine is being handfed by him/herself, it will imprint on people and be tame still when it grows up. I've got videos of the baby on my you tube channel.

  • One is still very tame - the one in this video. He likes to hang out and shriek in your ear and try and seduce your fingertips. The other is more shy, but still likes to use people as perches.

  • Great vid.. i'm going to go and get my snake! Only kidding..

I got zebra finches too, wicked pets to have.. my ones can't get babies, they lay eggs then never bother to hatch them..

  • That is just one of the cutest babies ever!!!!

  • cruel!

  • Snake food

  • when they are full grown, they will not land in a humans hand, or?

  • I feel bad for my female Vivian. It got into a fight with the male and almost lost its wing

  • ihq daa

  • Thats really cute, but sadly some people don't see zebra finches as pets, they use them as feed to snakes and shit and actually posted it on YouTube (Those little jacked up sickos) Just look for it and prepare to be outraged

  • some zebras harass and hiss in the face of cagemates, they aren't 100% innocent.

  • Birds gotta fly, snakes gotta eat.

  • Well, that was a long time ago, nowadays, i'm pissed that they try to pass it off as "natural" when its in a death trap (enclosed)

  • I wouldn't say it's impossible if you know what you're doing. If you buy an adult Zebra Finches right out of pet store. Then you might be in for a long ride trying to tame the bird. It's best to tame them when they are young like in the video. That way the birds trust will build up much quicker while they are in the learning stage. You'll even notice a big personality difference in a tamed adult finch. The only draw back is they may want to spend more time out of the cage.

  • I heard it was pretty much impossible to tame zebra finches, but I really want to try. It would be so cool to have a little bird let you hold it. Do you let your tamer birds fly around the room?

  • Yes, they fly around the room. It is next to impossible to tame an adult, but the babies rely on you for food and for care, so they get used to you. Their personalities can be very different though. The one in this video is very tame and affectionate, but his brother can be a crank. :)

  • Around that age is the best time to start taming Zebra finches. As for the petting part I think that depends on the finch. One of the male finches I have doesn't mind it at all.

  • So, are your zebra finches tame? Mine just had 5 babies, and they're under a week old. I'm hoping that they'll be a lot more friendly than their parents.

  • They are mostly tame. They like to sit on your shoulders and pull on your hair and sit on your hands while you do other things. They also like to bathe under running water if you cup your hands under it to catch the water for them. They don't really like being petted, though, unless they are very sleepy. :)

  • omgnn~ that's so cute xD almost like a hummingbird ^_^
