Umm.. i need help i have to interpet all of Stevie Wonder songs on his "Songs In the Key of Life" album.. i like stevie but im not sure with some of the songs are talking bout. i just finished some of disc 1 songs.. im on disc2 and its rather hard. Help please.

You make the distinction between Spanish and European, the same distinction exists for Zulu and African. Zulu is only spoken in the Republic of South Africa. He also uses another uniquely South African language(Xhosa) in Apartheid-It's wrong. Two great songs.
@1jeromeo i concur with you- unfortunately though, we in the west (in particular) are conditioned to look at the motherland as being monolithic, in terms of language and dialect. when speaking about the motherland we predominately speak of swahili; just as when we speak of culture, we look mostly to west africa. . we learn spanish in school without even realizing spain is in europe. we just know it is spanish, and don't recognize her history of colonialism.

I remember reading the liner notes on this song because it was in sung both in Spanish and in an African language (I do not recall which one), but Stevie made mention of how the various language were all part of the joy he felt about the future. Don't forget, this was shortly after Aisha was born and he was in a very joyous frame of mind. Have you seen her lately (Aisha?) Wow. All grown up and singing with her dad!

(late 80's-early90's)that brought me back to this song.Today's mainstream music is more record label,than the expressionism of the artist.That's why music like this is timeless!

@MIMI88998899 It might have started before hip hop. I say that MTV destroyed real music. Because image became more important than the music. That's why now they just get "pretty face" teach them some dance moves...and not even very good dancing at that....and there ya go: You have 99 pct of what popular music is today. How can you even take a step in the direction of what artists like Stevie were about when you aren't even writing the music you are singing?

I remember reading the liner notes on this song because it was in sung both in Spanish and in an African language (I do not recall which one), but Stevie made mention of how the various language were all part of the joy he felt about the future. Don't forget, this was shortly after Aisha was born and he was in a very joyous frame of mind. Have you seen her lately (Aisha?) Wow. All grown up and singing with her dad!
