It was a night-time prime time show, but maybe some affiliates tape delayed it and played it later, possibly in the daytime. Or maybe you're thinking of the TV show he did for CBS around 1957-'59 that on on in the mornings/daytime. This Jimmy Dean Show was Thursday nights 9-10 pm in '63, then Thursday nights 10-11 pm in '64, and the last year in '65, it aired Friday nights 9-10 pm
Rowlf was on Jimmy's ABC show from September 1963 to April 1966, then Jim Henson and Rowlf appeared with Jimmy in his live shows in Las Vegas for a time in '66, and they last worked together one final time on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1967.
@keca1430 Thought that was the time area. IF I recal right,it was a noon show, that we would catch . Back then, kids went home for lunch.Loved these bits and the show. RIP Mr. Dean
May jim and jimmy r.i.p. Rowlf was the first reconizable muppet wich makes him specail kermit didnt have a name orginly and was more of lizzard kermit was 2nd muppet and people now aren't suppose to use them as respect to jim no more kermy or rowlfy. I knew of muppet show but i fraggle rock and muppet babies gal
I love how Rowlf casually dropped that he likes to "have a couple of beers" after work in the Muppet Movie. That really made him seem like a real person...dog, whatever.
I really appreciate your posting this. I've wanted that documentary (and can't find it) for some time now. I taped it once from public television, but of course VHS is now obsolete...
Rowlf was also in Muppets Take Manhattan bc someone makes the comment, Something Smells! And everyone looks at Rowlf who asks why everyone always blames the dog. Or something along those lines.
I love Rowlf, he's one of my favorite Muppets. I wouldn't say he's a lost character though he sang on the Red and Green Christmas album and made small cameos on other muppet projects after the death of Jim.
not sure exactly when rowlf started appearing on the jimmy dean show, but I can tell you that it was around 1964, 5 years before sesame street started.
