My original design for the in line magnet motor back in 1990 was to place rubber between the magnets, but needs it where the magnet can pass before it can push off to the next magnet. The design was never meant to be round, that was because the test track was flat and long with the same amount of magnets on the top, so more like a belt sander for generators on each end.

You need to put an half arc iron core around your stator magnet and you
need also some iron cores at your rotor magnets to guid the flux asymmetrical away.

what is the arrangement of the magnets in the hard drive n,s,n,s,n etc are the axial itype if so you diametic typs on the stator
