  • You'll never get a Purple Heart hiding in a foxhole! Follow me!

  • @14foxcompany

Come on, you sons of bitches! Do you want to live forever?

  • @TJDOZIER1 dude it was come on you apes do you want to live forever lol

  • Good. Brings tears to my eyes. You can just imagine the Union soldiers struggling through the Civil War. Then, after so man lost, victory is won....

  • @lasalleman What about Confederate soldiers (or civilians, for that matter)? What about Southerners kept in Northern concentration camps, wherein prisoners died of hunger and exposure?

  • Awesome.

  • Semper Fi

  • Actually, this song predates the Marine CORPS. While there were US Marines during the Great War of the Rebellion/ War for Southern Independence, it didn't become the Corps until later.

Still, the simple message of the song-love of country and loyalty to one's comrades-is one all Marines relate to, no matter when they served.

  • The term "Marine Corps" relating to the military force known as The U.S. Marine Corps, was first established in an act of Congress on 17 July 1798.

The song "Battle Cry of Freedom" was written in 1862 by a George F. Root..

  • @TJDOZIER1 See the notes below. The Marines were with us, They held the line. I served with Marines and have Marine friends , they Brag too much. But they are all very good men and Patriotic. We all served! If you did pick up your Rifle and Follow Me!

  • @TJDOZIER1 umm the marine corps birth day is November 10 1775 by order of the second Continental congress because of the lack of sea soldier to fight in a cqc battle on a ship or to shot there musket loaded with buck shot at British war ship during a navel engagement

  • @americanTDz

    Maybe you misunderstood.

I didn't say when the Marine Corps birthday was,

I said when the term "Marine Corps" relating to the military force known as the US Marine Corps was first established by an act of Congress.

The "Continental Marines" were formed on 10 November, 1775, and disbanded in 1783.

There was no formal organization called the "Marine Corps" between 1783 and 1798.

We have 4 Marines in our family, 3 are combat vets, we celebrate 10 November, 1775 as the birthday

  • @BenAliGtor . This is the site of the Battle of Bladensburg which took place in the War of 1812. Commodore Joshua Barney and his 500 Marines were greatly outnumbered by the British Expeditionary Force of 4,500 trained regulars. The battle raged for four hours but eventually the overpowering numerical odds won out for the British who went on to burn the Capitol and White House. On this location, Commodore Barney was wounded and taken prisoner. All Salute Josh Barney and the Marines.

  • WTF I THINK ALL WHO JOIN THE MARINES KNOW WHAT THERE SIGNING UP FOR..........SO I DONT KNOW WHY PEOPLE SAY THERE PAWNS WHEN THEY WERENT FORCE TO JOIN. AND LOOK IF YOU DONT LIKE TO GO TO WAR ,THEN WHY U EVEN JOIN THE MILITARY? SERIOUSLY ARE U RETARDED? college credits? money? wtf go to community college and get a job . DUMBFUCK UNITED STATES MARINES DONT NEED PUSSYS!!!!!!!! FUCKOFF AND GO TO SCHOOL, AND LET REAL MEN GO TO WAR

  • caps lock is cruise control for douche bags

  • This was played at my granddad's funeral a few weeks ago. Such a beautiful song, very solemn, yet very powerful.

  • It is indeed. Quite inspirational, too, I might add.

  • The Marine Corps band music is available on the official Marine Corps site.

  • One Union. One republic. One people. Many faces.

  • @LestCom Fifty states. Fifty peoples. One wicked socialist federal government. Many faces.

  • Um..."Soldiers" are in the Army.

The sad part of this is that one of the unintended results of the courage, effort and sacrifices of those Marines who have fallen in the cause of freedom...is the protection of those few people who are so self absorbed in their own little world of conspiracies that they are to blind to see the courage, Honor and sacrifice of those few who have earned the right to be called Marine.

  • Army and Marines do the same thing. It's stupid to say Maines are better than the Army and it's stupid to say the Army is better than Marines. They are the same.

  • from what you are able to see, your right, if you haven't either been in the marine corp, or known a marine closely you just wouldn't understand.

there is no better friend and no worse enemy than a United States Marine

  • Oorah

  • actually your wrong

  • I was in the Navy for 4 years so I know all about sacrifice, courage, etc. That's not the point.

The people that pull the strings consider you an expendable, like a pawn in the game of chess. And It's not a conspiracy.

The Grand Chessboard - Zbigniew Brzezinski

    Read the book.

American soldiers are just dumb stupid animals for use as pawns in foriegn policy. David Rockefeller, Memoirs

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." Henry Kissinger,

  • I know sailors with similar views. They usually served one enlistment and didnt like the military life. Nothing wrong with that. I know far more sailors, airmen, soldiers and Marines who all understand they serve as volunteers in service to their country. They do not serve for one political party or another, nor for any special interest group. They serve out of a sense of Honor and a desire to serve our nation as defenders of freedom. They serve in support of one another. Thats not dumb at all.

  • Kissinger, Rockefeller and their like were and are little men who thought they pulled the strings. They were fooling themselves. The common man and the common soldier knows why he is there and what he fights for. The ideals of freedom and justice and equality always have and always will drive us. The small men think that they move us around like pawns on a chessboard? Their control is illusion and their understanding of what's happening is narrow minded.

  • Thank you for your service.

  • Just like we know exactly what we're doing or letting be done to us, right? And I'm not talking about welfare paranoia, I'm talking about the new rise of fascism.

  • except that the Marines are almost always the first to fight.

  • do you actually believe that the whole fuckin world would be able to get along that imaginary shit isnt true and realize men die for the country you fuck tard so shut the fuck up when you realize that people died for you and everyone else to live to you think that people will just stop fighting. no, because its in our DNA and our blood . NO ONE will change that. its the sad fuckin truth like to see you say that to a marine or a soldier that they were nothing but a pawn its not money its nature

  • You're naive,

Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it. Adolph Hitler

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on" George W. Bush

The Grand Chessboard - Zbigniew Brzezinski

  • you may not have the guts to die for you country but i will. your just another prick that hates america you might as well go join fuckin north korea you communist prick

  • I love these states, I love this Republic, and Im a libertarian! I die to keep this A Republic but I won't die for some corrupt Chicken Hawk politicians that sold he's soul to the highest bidder. You're lacking knowledge and information. You would die for so some fat cat on Wall street so he can keep driving around he's Mazaratti, that's what you're fighting for, haha. Sheep being led to slaughter. Just for the record I was in the military and I was dumb and Naïve when I joined just like you.

  • tell me how the fuck are we supposed to know what were dieing for when there shipping your ass to some island?

  • judging by your ability to use proper english, you couldn't have been in the military, because anyone with a high school education would know to use his mazaratti, or his soul, instead of he's.

now please go troll somewhere else

  • You're a very good slave now take you're poison like a good lil Patriot ! See you in the next life...

  • Nice try, when you learn to speak English, try again how much you love this country.

  • Grant's officers were very moved themselves on the evening following the first day of the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864, as they heard the general weeping loudly. He was never heard to weep again.

  • OMG!! You brought an old Squid to weap anashamedly, where was this sense of honor and patriotism when we came back from the Mekong Delta?? I know , a different time and a different place.

  • There are many millions of people with respect and recognition for people of honor, then, now, and always.

As it is said, "Semper Fidelis"

They are more than just words and millions who could not wear the uniform, still know this. Thank you for your service.

  • That was one our nations saddest eras. Thank you.

  • Great vid!!

  • I was inspired by all the Marines I know and have known in the past. No one has more honor and no one has more courage than the United States Marine.

    Semper Fi.

  • C'est le Nord qui a gagné... - Merde! Le Sud se battait aussi pour la liberté! - Qu' apporté cette victoire?... - POUÂH!

  • Je voudrais ont combattu pour le sud si j'étais en vie à l'époque.

  • God BLESS THE U.S.A.

    Long live the Republic

    UNION forever!!!!!!

  • I also redubbing it, to lengthen it.

  • I heard no Battle cry of freedom...just America the Bueatiful, get the songs right please...

  • This song is called, "The Battle cry of Freedom" and is from the soundtrack to the PBS/Ken Burns series called the Civil War. Its not even close to America The Beautiful. For a version of America the Beautiful watch my video titled, "A Tribute to Scott Crossfield, an American Hero". Listen to every other version of this song on youtube, all have the same melody, even the version on your youtube page.

  • That isn't 'Battle cry of freedom' by far. Must be some twist or something, I wanted the original Battle Cry of Freedom. And how would you know, the marines saw next to no action in the civil war(weren't even recognized much as marines then either). And what is with this Piano stuff...and yer right, not AtB it is Glory hallelujah

  • I know 17 Union Marines recieved the Medal of Honor for conspicious Bravery in the Civil War. Marines guarded the ships and forts of the Union. Marines captured John Brown and Nat Turner. Marines were at the landing at New Orleans, the attacks on Charleston and Fort Fisher. And there were less than 3000 Union Marines in the Civil War. I guarentee the Marines dont need me to defend them or their honor. All they need to know is that I stand with them, and it is I who is honored by them.

    Semper Fi

  • Exactly, limited service in the civil war, which I study, reenact and had to learn the 'battle cry of freedom' by heart and to the letter. And it is Infantry all the way! "God Bless the Infantry", and another quote "God loves the infantry" but the USMC is okay I quess, but still that really isn't the Battle cry of freedom -_-

  • So its an Army VS Marines thing. Thats Ok.

I have respect for anyone who wears the uniform of freedom, that of the United States Armed Forces.

So I agree, God bless the Infantry...

but move them out of the way so the Marines can go home, they already secured the beachhead and have been sitting around drinking beer for a week!

  • its really, Move the marines out of the way and let the real land warriors do their jobs.

  • Either way, sounds like bad times for the enemy.

  • there really is a battle cry of freedom

  • Yea I know there is, it was sung at a lot of drafts and musterings during the Civil War. One of the most famous songs from the US Civil War.

  • a famous general (I forget his name) once said "Freedom is not free but the USMC will pay your fee" God bless you marines and any other people in the service

  • That saying is credited to Captain Ned Dolan, E Co Platoon Leader, USMC.

  • To my fallen brothers who are remembered and honored here.

    Semper Fidelis.

  • The LOYAL South in the UNION FOREVER --

    Semper Fidelis -- USMC!

    God Bless The USA!

  • i like the confederate version better

  • The original is the better version. The Confederates tried, without much success, to rip off a powerful tune.

  • Very nice, and felt deeply (Navy Corpsman '90-'99).

  • wow, thanks so much for this- from a Marine Vet.

  • Semper Fi

  • Thank you for the great video. From an old Navy Vet.

  • The Union Forever -- God Bless the USA!

    Semper Fi!

  • Really, really Great Video!

But why (only) the Marines this Song was a recruiting Song of United States Army in the Civil War.

  • Because Marines hold a special place in history and the cause of freedom. And because I have a relationship with the Marine Corps.

But I honor and respect anyone who puts on the uniform, picks up a weapon and mans a post in the defense of freedom.

  • Hope you mean whatever Army that may be...because in the States they laugh at my 4 years of service in the Canadian Army:(

  • As I said, I repsect anyone who puts on the uniform....without regard to which flag it is under. In the struggle between good and evil, from which all combat originates, a bullet knows not and cares not, the national origin of its target. Honor and courage are the acts of individual people, and to often are contrary to the acts of Nations and Governments.

  • I am not laughing.

    Thank you for your service.

  • Semper Fidelis boys, Always faithful

  • The Union forever, hurrah, boys, hurrah

Down with the traitor, Up with the star.

While we rally 'round the flag, boys, rally once again

Shouting the battle cry of freedom.

  • The Union forever! Hurrah, boys, hurrah!

    Down with the traitors, up with the stars;

While we rally round the flag, boys, rally once again,

Shouting the battle cry of freedom!

  • excellent, excellent video.

  • Thank you.

  • When I die and Heaven awaits,

    I'll find God has Marines...

    Guarding the gates.

    Semper Fi.

  • And we'll fill the vacant ranks of our brothers gone before.

  • Semper Fi.

  • Semper Fi...

  • Nay, that of those who they serve have quite less honorable a reputation, and for their sacrifice they earn criticism and mockery, what a Godless and hopless people are we. Shame and dishonor on they who drink of the cup freely which is not free at all.

  • Not all they that may drink from the cup of freedom knoweth from whince it came, consider the lilies of the field, they toil not, yet they prosper. So it goes with freedom. The fallow ground of oppression is enriched with the blood of patriots, that those who toil not may yet prosper for thier sacrifice.

  • Do not confuse the actions of a single person or a few individuals with the reputation earned with the blood of 232 years of valiant and heroic service of those who are called Marines.

    Semper Fi.
