  • This is very cool, Gabe! I never saw this before! Very impressive how you did it all!

  • At 2:45 now a days you could just use After Effects and use Rotobrush to get the hat.

  • What moviemaker was that?

  • this helped me quite alot, i want to the exact same thing, just on the top of worlds tallest building (burj khalifa) but it will be a horror, and i might use green screen or just go up there on a non-busy day. who knows, but thank you for the video...

  • VERY FASINATING AND THE RESULT WAS IMPRESSIVE. IT MADE ME NEROUS TO WATCH!

  • Now dont get me wrong its x-i-lent but i wish you would of showed something more but its great i really love special effects because of the things you can do. The thing is getting to the yite video to learn these things. ppl are half ass these days

  • I don't know how combustion works, but I would've done a 3D (in either combustion if it has it or a 3D program if there isn't 3D functionality) building wall so it looks like they're actually on the edge of a building because no building I've ever seen has just an edge like that.

  • Zero budget? You must have bought the green screen and Combustion?

  • @reeno224 They were items I already had, like the camera. I did not buy them for this production. Technically I did buy water for the actors so you got me! :) Thanks for your interest.

  • @reeno224 and the camera and the actors :)

  • Interesting use of greenscreen. I used one extensively on a vampire film.

  • why didnt you make the back ground a different layer?

  • It was helpful. Thanks

  • Wow. Amazing what you can do with so little. The only thing you really could have bought was a green bedsheet to make things easier on yourself.

  • that software is called autodesk combustion...

  • What software this is??

  • And that you look like him if he gained a tiny bit of weight?

  • Has anyone ever told you you sound exactly like Edward Norton?

  • awesome. What software are you using in this video? Thanks, 3000VideoProductions

  • Part of the womans head was also over the green area and was NOT masked correctly like the rest of the footage that went over the edge of the roof and over the green area.

  • this is so cool - 5 stars

  • Very nice work i've had some of the same issues as you.Hate Rotoscope sucks, what i see would help the green screen work is wind. Great work!!

  • still did'nt get how you did the camera movement part... why is the shott wiht the two people a little angled if it was just one shot... I don't get it...

  • quite simple.

  • coooool

  • a master! cool video

  • brilliant!

  • such as the name of the program to achieve these effects?

  • He was using combustion

  • very good tricks. please do some more tutorials with more details.

PS: I like the way you explain.

  • absolutely love it. thanks

  • For me nothing look special.. But i gotta say.. The camera motion was the clever part :) keep up the great work.

  • wow it looks so real

  • Man that is epic !

  • What version of adobe after effects is this?

  • none.

  • i have my own short movie but this one is the best Wow..i wanna get adobe after effectttttttttttt

  • how did u add the backround into the greenscreen

  • simple....chroma keying....duh

  • Yes:D I forgot to favorite this vid last time I watched, and I wanted to see your hebind the scenes one more time, since amma be doing it myself very soon^^

    +fav

  • that is awesome :D

  • I really liked the digital camera effect motion. It was really practical and simple. Thanks!

  • what program was this?

  • adobe premiere. check out my pirate movie on my channel. i used it.

  • just amazing!

  • Inspiring my old friend.

Haven't been around in a while, by the looks of it neither have you. Healing Network was a good little series.

  • Very interesting shots, good work. It looks great in my opinion :)

  • what program is that? please, tell me...

  • this is the type of insight i was looking for. brilliant! when possible hit my page. i am relatively new to tube, however if possible i would hope that we could network hookup do some type of project together. thanks!

  • thanks ..was very very informative and useful

  • what program did u use and what other programs can be use

ps can u use adopt after effect

    (can it do that)

  • thanks for the advice!

  • so im guessing i can get this software free off bitcomet?(it says zero budget, my specialty)im gonna try that

  • I like combustion bcuz of its UI and it can do a great roto work, but I think you could've done a better job keying the green out of people's hair using the keylight in AE7,and you could've avoided "choking" the guy's haircut on 04:05! but it's just my personal opinion...

  • thank you the video had the desired effect. excuse the pun.

  • wat is that program?

  • read the description

  • yeah !!

  • read the description

  • should it be greenscreen cant it be bluescreen or something like that

  • You can key on any color. This shade of green is typically used because it usually doesn't match things like blue eyes or clothing.

  • what editing program do you use and how can i get it?

  • One question

How do I actually put the picture behind the characters?

  • dude the green screen is already like a mask, so all you have to do is mask around it.

  • haha try after effects

  • Great Infomation, i use Vegas for all my short films.

  • your right that last one is very low budget lol but over all it looks realativly simple

  • Hey filmmakers Mollymfg dot com has nice camera dollies for cheap!! Check it out.

  • i dont know if anyone noticed but at 3:50 --> 3:53 the guy in the right hand side has his elbow missing!!

  • hey u i love your effect can tell me what program did u use

  • wow...thank you loco. you just save me a bunch of time.....btw...what programdo you use?

  • Thanks for taking the time to explain what was doine.

  • very intresting! cool thatz what i wana doo for life....

  • I like Fxhome

  • cool!

  • Whalesarefat...You don't have to go to school to learn this stuff...Try using the internet and you will find a wealth of info on how to do things like this...Although it takes a little patients, time and demoing to get to a point that is exceptable and something the eye will believe...

  • I want to learn more about special effects. What kind of software do you use, how much does it cost, and where do you get it?

  • exporting frame by frame to put into photoshop from final cut drops down to 72dpi anyone know how to get exact scale

  • whoa dude awesome video! i had to comment. Im interest in green chroma key special effects stuff too. check out my videos

  • Marvelous your a topman.

  • Thanks man... very helpfull....

  • he obviously went to school for this...you can't learn shit like that over night

  • damn i need this guy doing my videos- aeileon el nino

  • good gosh this is alot of stuff is this stuff like really really difficult? what program did you use? very good stuff

  • What editing software did you use?

  • or use an airbazooka

  • great commitment to the piece with the frame-by-frame editing. cant help but think that the lack of wind on the roof scene kind of detracts from the realism of it all, you should have shot the actual scene on the roof but dubbed in the audio later.

  • i just wanna say that this is a visual effect and not a special effect

  • Hi. I dont know if someone talk about this before cause there are too many comments. Well, i think that u work a lot on those hats that go out of the green screen. I can give u a tip: there are some software that makes "tracking" (i make it in apple shake, i dont know if combustion can do that, but im sure that there is one that can do that in pc) so u track for example the hat and then attach it to the points near the hat. That way u just draw 1 time and get the instant result. Good work! Bye!

  • What editing software did u use

  • Discrete Combustion or you mean discreet * ?

  • great job i love it how did you set your image collor?

keep it up you have a bright future

  • what software did you use

  • good effects but your fucking annoying dude with the constant clicking and moving things! pfft...

  • Green screen rules! I love the film. It's well made and hilarious. Compliments to the chef, or editor in this case... Peace. Dan =:)

  • wow.. this is really awesome..

    great job!

  • twat

  • What program did you use?

  • your effects are sooo WEAK.

you are obvious idiot, no knowledge.

Combustion sucks big time. crash after crash. You don't need to know what PRO use.

Nobody will hire you, good luck with your waste of time projects.

  • Nice! Thanks for sharing.

  • This is a nice piece of work and nicely presented thanks =D

  • ur boring

  • ah the heady days of travelling matts

  • All good stuff... well done and thanks for good presentation of behind-the-scenes. Maybe on falling man shot, you could throw in some tonal changes (lightening up of body) in snippets, so that it appears to be racing past shadow casting objects (building, in sunlight, etc), might distract the eye of the perfect shadow on chest. Also, a key light in filming may have been a good way to brighten up when he was horizontal (ie. after 3 secs?). Just an idea? Cheers.

  • I have learn me a lot of thing.

  • please can you tell me just want to no which version of vegas is that please you are really good

  • looks like 'Combustion' to me!

  • thank you for your inspiration!

    keep up the good work!

    you rock!

    ;D

  • ah, i like the "digital pan". did you have to manipulate the background to get it to "stretch" like a pan?

  • mate this is really interesting thanks. really cool ideas too

  • nice work loconut we had to tan you up some where it came to matching your skin tone color w/the room the composite range is close to a sun burn look. Livewire-

  • Very helpful. Actually had to pause the video a few times to take down some notes. You answered some of the questions that i've been wondering about, especially about masking.

  • COOOL!

  • Wow, good job!

  • Very nice. Thanks.

  • Very interesting stuff, The music video effects video was very cool! =)

I'm more of a code, webdesign & photoshop dude myself.

I've seen and even played a little with vegas and 3dmax before, but never knew that you could do cool stuff like this with them ...Until now!

I want to see more! =)

  • really nice work

  • What program did you use?

  • what program is that?

  • how about corel? is it also used for editing videos?

can you send me a msg where can i download that magic bullet by red giant software they dont have it in computer shop here

  • Great to see and hear how films are made and I am interested to know what software program is used for editing?

  • I use vegas video for editing basic stuff. Combustion for advanced effects.

  • what software did you used on this particular thing? and i wanna knw how did you made like a film effect

  • I use a film simulation plugin called magic bullet by red giant software. It's a pretty good one.

  • Hi I just wanted to know what you did to this video to get the Film look....can you lpease advise the setting or software etc.

    many thanks for your Tutorials

  • I use a film simulation plugin called magic bullet by red giant software. It's a pretty good one.

  • Wow, that was some great info. I also use chroma key with a blue screen, but never thought about blurring the background or some of your other effects to enhance the realism, thanks!

  • great information and you explain it well. Please keep them coming. Thanks

  • cool thanks loconut i love u for this hahaha

  • Wow, impressive!

  • i dont know if you know this but i dont think the paper has to be green it just has to be one solid color.

  • It doest have to be green but green and blue are two of the colours that wont blend with any skin colour or tone, so we use those with people

  • rockin' thanks for the tutorial. peace out! kassiopeia

  • Thanks, that was really interesting. I didn't even realize that the acting shots on the building top were green screened! I thought the guy falling was the only special effect.

  • Loconut, did you study film somewhere or are you self taught? I studied film and tv broadcasting for 3 years and they never taught us how to do cool stuff, I had to learn it all on my own.

  • This is all self taught. I took some video classes but they just taught the basics like how to use final cut pro. I don't really know of a lot of classes that teach this stuff. I'm sure they have them somewhere... ?

  • Do you do the bezier mask around the hat in Combustion or Vegas? And the replacement plates were done in Combustion as well? Thanks for this...

  • the masks were all done in combustion. Basically all this that you see was done with Combustion, I then took the clips into vegas to put them together and add final filters.

  • Very cool...thanks!

  • see if it was me i would've just pushed the guy over the building and hope for the best

  • london: You're a little scary sometimes. ;)

  • This is awesome. Thank you for showing us this...Also, does Rage on the building mean anything or was it just a fluke?

  • Did I completely miss that? Does it say Rage on the building? I'll have to look again. :)

  • Yes when they are on the roof and he runs out and then later when it's the same angle. Did you check it out? I thought it was cool.

  • Oh, it took me forever to see that. Haha. Not intentional. This is a STORAGE building that a friend of mine owns (one of the actors) so what you're seeing is the RAGE part of STORAGE. :D

  • neat stuff

  • coreymon: thank you. Hope you got something from it. :)

  • AWESOME! Thank you for posting this!

  • No problem, my pleasure. :)

  • thanks for that. rotoscoping the mask around the hat was nice, lucky for you the hat was a fairly simple shape. i had to do that around a pair of hands once. Oyy!

  • bugs: ooh! That would suck. I actually had to do a bit of that in this one too. What sucks is I shot at a slow frame rate to give it motion blur and a more cinegraphic quality, but learned that that just sucks when dealing with rotoscoping. Rotoscoping a blur moving hand... not easy.

  • Very interesting and very impressive! Really enjoy your 'how its done' videos.

  • buzzboid: Thank you! I hope to make more of these in the future. Thanks for watching. :)

  • my grandaughter is coming for Christmas, she is going to love looking at this. Budding film maker, you know and she love all your stuff.

    Connie

  • connie: Cool. I'm hoping this will inspire young film-makers to see that a lot more is possible on a home computer than a lot of people think. :)

  • Nice.

  • TheUce: Thank you. :)

  • you chopped half of the girl's head off!!

  • quittingtomorrow: I know. lol. I didn't actually use that clip in the final product but was using it to demonstrate other things. :)

  • wow

  • adamgooday: That's what I'm going for. :) Also, hopefully this will inspire people.

  • Impressive!

  • chaotic: Thank you. Appreciate the comment. :)

  • I enjoyed watching this. Thanks mate..

  • Damian: no problem mate. cheers.

  • you did a great job xD and an amazing explanation. I've to question for you. How did you work in this movie ? What camera do you have ? Thanks man. You last episode from the healing network has great xD. Great to have the healing network back xD. Cheers xD

  • interesting stuff. makes me appreciate how much time and effort was spent in making this and other videos to make things look right. great job!

  • frogbeeknot: thanks. Yeah, unfortunately it takes a tremendous amount of time to do all this but it's interesting and pays off. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • wow you do know alot- i am impressed. i could learn alot from you

  • xgobobeanx: now if I could just make a living at this...

  • cool

  • snotmagic: Thanks. Happy Holidays!

  • awesome loconut. i like your short film.

  • maxistheman: Thank you very much. :)

  • wow i didnt' know it took so much work, the movie looked so real, the program u used prob cost alot of money cause im starting to get into like movies and stuff and i'll i can aford at my age is windows movie maker. but any way good job and pretty cool

  • Timpy: The programs I use cost a fare amount but usually you can find someone with them or ask to use computers at a school and do an internship or make some kind of arrangement. Good luck.

  • what software did u use to make these AWESOME VIDEOS!?

  • Schuyler: thanks, I posted the programs just now in the description for you.

  • Thank you!

  • Wow. Thanks, really interesting! I'd love to learn this kind of stuff. Gotta get a camera first. :)

  • Illuminata: haha, yeah, that would be a first step. But it doesn't have to be a really good one if you're mostly posting you YouTube. People spend a lot on 3CCD high end cameras but end up just putting the final result on youtube, which they could have done with a $200 camera. Anyway, good luck.

  • Thanks, sweety. I could live on my computer. Unfortunately, I have a life that competes with that. I enjoy watching you, though. More, please. :)
