@vipersickboy24 Without having direct and unencrypted access to the files, no. There are games that can let you change textures after unpacking a large file that contains folders with all the textures. For games like dead space, you will need to use texmod for the results you are looking for.

DS3 will more than likely need texmod.

rename the steam Deadspace2.exe to Deadspace2original.exe

and put texmod in the directory of steam dead space 2. rename texmod.exe to Deadspace2.exe

In the need for speed carbon the address of the vinyls are diferent and sometimes dont change anything when i open the game again can i ask you why?

@Osakarmakun I'm not familiar with using texmod with that game however if you seem to be having a hard time getting it to swap try to make sure that the car model doesn't have TWO textures for it. The reason I mention this is because in dead space 2 there were two textures/light maps for some special features on issac's suit and I had to change them both.

Texmod is a very easy program to get your feet wet with modding. If you need ideas on drawing programs, there are some free programs that do quite well for starters too - GIMP is one of them.

I am trying to capture a texture in saints row 2 but when I look at it it comes out all black or black and white in game it is skin color any idea how to fix this?

@red25ty I do not have SR2 - but if you are getting skins that are coming out incorrectly - try checking the "Alternative Method" box in the logging section and make sure your pulling them as BMP just in case. I would recommend looking up the issue specifically on google to be sure that there are other people with the problem you mentioned.

@devilboy744 On some computers the + and - do not work for texmod. Mine for example. I have to use / and the button located directly right of L. Make sure your numlock is on to. to turn numlock on at least on my PC is FN + Delete.

@ViLeDeth, Do you know how to edit glowmaps? i'd lke to change the color of the mass effect 2 scars and deathmask eye colors.

@kordulus Yes - In my anti-collector video I mess with Mass Effect 2's glow map for that suit. Also I will be going into bump mapping in DS2 and showing people how to make interesting designs. Refer to my Crimson Shell Armor video for a quick peek of one of the suits I've redesigned through bump mapping, uv and textures.

@kingkonman4 You need to set up where your textures are going to be saved - the best place to look is in the same folder as texmod - if they are not there, then open up texmod and designate a place for textures to be placed when logging textures.

Then press ENTER or whatever key you have set for logging them!

Summary:

press +/- keys to sort through them on the screen

find the skin you want and press the log key (by default it is ENTER key)

Nice suggestion for running this with Dead Space 2. It allowed me to get this working on the Steam version of Dead Space 1&2. I only copied some textures however, but given that it worked with copying, I would think it should work with replacement as well.

Any version of texmod is considered a "trojan" because it is intrusive to the system memory.

@plsdontsue631 Dude sorry for the delay in replying I'm a pretty busy dude but I'll tell you that you can rename your deadspace2.exe in your steam directory to deadspace2bak.exe and copy texmod.exe into that same directory, renaming it "deadspace2.exe." run the texmod now named deadspace2.exe and target the deadspace2bak.exe

you should be all set from there.

You will have to rename your DS exe to deadspacebak.exe and copy texmod into the same directory. Rename your texmod copy to deadspace. Run deadspace.exe and choose deadspacebak.exe

You have to create a package after you make your alterations to the textures. After that, just run texmod and select your texmod package for use and run the game.

@FuzzyMcDoodles Sorry for not replying back in time, I was very busy last week.

Check to see if your anti-virus is erasing the download, it shouldn't be to begin with, the exe is safe. Your only issue with anti-viruses is when texmod is running a texmod package (texmod modifies the game's files through system memory, so to your anti-virus it is a positive match as a virus, but it is a false positive because you know its just modifying textures and not raping your computer)

@TheLadyAlphaDale I don't have that game - though you ca,n try as I did in this tutorial, to see if it is compatible. There is a compatibility list on the net from what I last remembered when I did a search for TexMod.
