  • WIll this fan fit with the Gskill Ripjaw memory? im not sure if this will actually touch or block them.

  • i have intel DX58SO.... i dont know where to connect combined pin on mother board could you help me out.... should i connect the of both fan combined to cpu fan on motherboard or should i connect to somewhere else...pls help me any link would help....thx

  • @whatcd sorry forget to tell you that i bought noctua nh d-14 and dont know where to connect power pin on motherboard

  • that thing is a beast. Will it clear Corsair Vengeance high profiles?

  • how noisy is this with full load?

  • Would you still recommend this Cooler even if you're not planning to Overclock, or would I be better of getting another Cooler? If anyone is wondering, I'm getting the i7 2600k Processor and the Asus P8P67 PRO REV 3.1 Motherboard.

  • @OwnerJord It's not nessecary if you're not overclocking.

  • @Syncedize Ah thanks. What would you recommend instead?

  • @OwnerJord If you are not overclocking, stock cooler would be enough, but if you want some aftermarket cooler for less noise and little better cooling, I would go with like cooler master hyper 212 evo or plus.

  • @Syncedize Ah thanks. What would you recommend instead?

  • @Syncedize Ah thanks. What would you recommend instead? I was just thinking of Air Flow efficiency, I'm getting the CoolerMaster HAF X, so cooling is pretty much covered due to the cable management in that case, but I don't want my Processor getting crispy, better safe then sorry!

  • OMG!! IT IS A TTLC VID THAT IS 10 MINUTES LONG ...LOL ;)

  • Not really relevant to the video but... Tom i have a 3.2ghz amd phenom x4 955 processor what is it safe to overclock to with the stock heatsink and fan?

  • I bought this too after listening to you and I am very happy with the decision.

  • Hi guys, I'm a bit stuck on what to get for my gaming rig.

I'm getting a i5 2500k and a P8H61 motherboard, and I am intending on overlocking the i5. Would the Noctua be able to fit on my motherboard as it is socket 1156 and my motherboard/processor is 1155?

  • @iUKWill H61 does not support CPU overclocking so you need to go and change that quickly :p

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms If so, what motherboards at about an £80 price range support CPU overclocking? I was fairly sure the H61 could support CPU overclocking as people on the Ebuyer forum said that it could, but you are the expert so I won't question you.

  • Comment removed

  • @iUKWill Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 is as cheap as I would go. H61 100% doesnt support proper overclocking mate.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Will say, overclocking the 2500k to about 4.0 Ghz - 4.2 Ghz make much off a difference whilst playing games, having the noctua cooling it? If not then I will just get a 2500 and save my self the money on the motherboard and CPU cooler. Do you recommend getting a 2500k over a 2500?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Do you recommend me getting a 2500k instead of a 2500 or should I just save up for a i7?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms @iUKWill I Can confirm the Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 is a good board to OC the 2500k. My rig is the same as your's will be (Gigabyte Z68AP-D3, i5 2500k, Noctua nh-d14 cooler). The Z68AP-D3 is a good board, cheap-and-cheerful, also has most features to be expected with z68 chipsets. One word of warning though, if you're building inside a mid-tower, make sure to route your PSU cables ready for the board mounting as the nh-d14 makes the ATX 12v a little tricky to get to once installed!

  • @iUKWill get a proper motherboard n00b

  • @iUKWill u need a p67 or z68 chipset to overclock h does not support overclocking also that cooler should work fine

  • this cooler ROCKS!

  • man this would work great with my ndiva gpu maybe i can get 60c idle

  • personal opinion,

    XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 WaterCooling Kit+200x200mm rad (have the config, res>240 rad>cpu>mobo>rad>gpu>res)

or get this heatsink and just use fans for rest? your personal opinion please

  • @D1rtyDubstep loop order makes NO difference just build it tidy. thing is that pump res compo isnt really up to all those blocks

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms ahh okay, i dont want to bother you, but ive got a

    2600k

    rog maximum iv extreme board,

    corsair 1200w gold psu,

corsair 600t case, and getting a 7970 at the end of this month, and as you are the watercooling king, would you mind giving me some adivse for the watercooling?

i intending on watercooling the cpu/gpu/mobo, and the build will have a 240, but i can fit another 200x200mm rad and/or a 120x120mm rad,

    thanks

  • The cooler may be very good, but damn the colors of the coolers are so damn ugly xD

  • @s1gnex You can always buy extra fans if it really matters to you.

  • this or the H100 with nf-f12 fans in the cm-storm trroper? thanks ^^

  • @potatocats thats just personal preference dude

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Thanks for the reply! It's awesome to see someone take time to reply to comments, I really appreciate it ^^

I'll probably stick with the NH-D14 then, if there's not massive difference in performance :3

  • wish they would get rid of the coffee and cream color scheme, lol

  • Hello, i have a Noctua NH-D14 on my AMD 1100t. I have found that at 4-4.2Ghz it will eventually (3-4hours) hit the 62*c barrier yet the top of the Noctua is still relatively cool (10*c over ambient). I am using Arctic Cooling MX-4 Thermal Paste as the contact medium.

The stock cooler and my old 100% Copper Hyper6 used to get hot on the heatpipes whilst cooling the CPU but this Noctua doesnt seem to be doing it. (TBH i blame AMD for having a low limit lol)

  • Will Corsair Vengeance 16 GB Kit PC3-12800 1600MHz memory fit under the side of the heatsink? Doesn't look too spacey...

  • @jope12 you can look on the noctua website and it gives you a compatability chart. The vengeance is just too big.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms We can mount it in different orientation, right? Since, there is no correct or wrong way to mount the cpu cooler(s).

  • @ComVoiDua You'll have the rear case fan taking airflow from the d14's intake then and all the hot air from the d14 in the case, just get low profile vengeance. I have just bought some vengeance LP and a d14 for my new rig as the noctua website says it is compatible. if you already have vengeance then either buy an nzxt havik 140 or some new ram if you want a d14

  • @Chazillor Thanks for your reply. HAF 912 with Noctua NF - P14 FLX (side panel), NF - S12B FLX (as rear exhaust fan), up top, 2x Cooler Master 120mm fans. Cooler Master 200mm (front intake). As for RAM, I have the G Skill Ripjaw X Series (which compatible), bought them for back-up, just in case. Please let me know if will run into any problems.

  • @ComVoiDua theres only so much i can help you with over youtube, its a pain tracking the comments. if you join the aria forums and post in the new build or cases and cooling section (whichever is relevant) there are a bunch of of there all happy to help its forums dot aria dot co dot uk, obviously substituting the dots for .

  • @jope12 Get the low profile vengeance stuff, or xms3, that fits

  • @jope12 Try the vengeace with low heatspreaders.

  • @jope12 Try the vengeace with low heatspreaders.

  • Will this fit the Corsair Vengeance (heat spreaders)?

  • @ComVoiDua no

  • @Chazillor Even I mount it in different direction / orientation? i.e. blow the air up to the top instead out to the rear?

  • its awsome but do you think it will fit in a antec 600v2?

  • c0 step i7?

  • This is my first review I watched of Toms, and the first recommended product :D Also had a recommendation in person with Mr Logan :D

  • and so toms love affair with the D14 began. :P

Also, looking back at your old videos you look much more happy and healthier now than you did before.

  • @PkOdJuganot this is where it began!!! Thanks for the kind words dude :D

  • @PkOdJuganot :O was somthing up with tom :((((((((((

  • @don2xify btw, my temps under normal load (gaming, surfing, multitasking) don't cross 50C even with overclocking. using prime95 torture test it is at low to mid 60C... i'm using i72600k OC to 4.2GHz

  • @don2xify p12 are very quiet even at 100%. i'm using 15 noctua fans (s12b/p12/b92/p14flx) in my build and all of it is even quieter than h100 stock fans at medium setting... h100 stock fans are crap...

  • I hate to ask another "will this fit in my,.." question but does anyone have experience with this cooler with a Asus M5A97 motherboard? thanks you!

  • will this fit on an MSI P67A-G43 with G.Skill Sniper Ram 4x4gb?

  • I hate the colour of the fans though, but if I wanted to replace them, which fans should I buy?

  • Has anyone ever thought of taking the internals of a fridge and sticking it into a computer case? You'd have above 0 temperatures so it being frozen wouldn't be an issue, maybe a little noise from radiators but it seems like a good idea to me.

  • @JadeXTopaz I think condensation becomes an issue with refrigeration.

  • @JadeXTopaz I've stumbled across a picture of an AIO air-conditioner jerry-rigged onto a computer before in a forum a few years back although it looked really silly. Can't remember how well it worked tho. :)

  • which is better? corsair h100 or noctua nh-d14?

  • @don2xify watch this and the H100 review dude and I answer it in depth :)

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms oh haha my bad.. btw.. is 75-80 degrees too hot but not 24/7.. i mean.. when i'm surfing the net or just playing a simple game.. my cpu doesn't really reach 100% load.. so it's mostly on idle and less than 50% most of the time.. if it does reach 100% it's only for like a few hours.. is it good to run it at that?

  • @don2xify what voltage / overclock do you have and what CPU?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms i7 2600k at 1.4v... been running prime95 small fft for 16 minutes and using Real Temp GT to measure my temperatures..so far my max temps are 73 78 78 77

  • @don2xify get the best of both worlds... h100 with 4 noctua p12 in push/pull configuration, my temps don't cross 50C even under load

  • @dpfernan thing is... i don't think i'll have enough of the long screws if i buy the extra fans for the push pull.....and is p12 quiet? i mean with 4 of them and at full speed.. the stock fans are really loud and the cougar vortex vibrate and is really annoying.....

  • I am at a crossroads as to which way to go for upgrading my cpu cooler. I have a Hyper 212 plus cooler in push/pull config and the on the side of the ram slots covers up the first DIMM so I have to move up the fan a couple cm's so that the ram will fit underneath. I have Gskill Ripjaws X ddr3 ram and Im wondering if this Noctua will get in the way of the heatsink of the ram? It seems like its got more space underneath the fan...what do you think?

  • @ChrisRey3156 fits fine with the ripjaws

  • Hey man this is my first comment on your video. Do you think this cooler can fit into Cooler Master Storm Enforcer case? If i correctly remember, the case can hold up to 170mm tall of cooler, but the noctua itself has mounting bars which would increase some mms right?

and yeah if i use corsair vengeance i notice that it wouldnt fit, correct? what about if i turn it the other way(not facing the ram?)

  • @domeee11 as for the case Im unsure now dude its been a while. The height of the cooler includes the tops tbh. Im 90% sure it will fit the case. As for the ram its a 100% no go dude.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms yeah i notice that vengeance got high heatsinks.. well, right now im thinking of the HyperX by Kingston, and imo it would fit under the noctua, what'd you reckon? since hyperx dont have high heatsinks right?

as for the case yes it can fit, i found some dude took a picture with that case and nhd14.. thanks btw!

  • Does that good piece of CPU cooler fit into a Sharkoon T9 Value if you know, since it looks quite tall? If not, do you maybe know some quiet CPU coolers for my Phenom II x4 955 which would fit?

  • @timetolive customs :( have already bought the tall vengeance ram, guess I'll have to get a corsair h80 or h100?

Thanks anyway..... Keep up the amazing videos!!!

  • @timetolivecustoms I don't know if you shall be able to answer this question, but will the Noctua NH14 fit with corsair vengeance ram installed?

Would be an amazing help if you could advise on this. (for my first build you see)

  • @epiccat12 It will not fit with the Vengeance that has the large heatsinks.

  • @epiccat12 Get the low profile ones! I just installed it on top of four full slots. Amazing cooler. Temp was 72-74 C with Intel cooler Prime95 stress test, it is now an amazing 46C. At idle, the tempo goes lower than the room temp actually, around 18, used to be 26. Love it!

  • @timetolivecustoms Thanks for replying.

  • Would you recommend this over the H100? I really want to know your opinion!

  • @B335430104 If you have tall ram yes, if you dont then imho Id use the noctua if it was my own rig. and yes both fit in the 932

  • will this fit in a coolermaster HAF 932?

  • Boys with big toys, i find this toy fancy enough for my boy.

  • 1st fan is 120

  • btw where's that Dual Asus mars review?

  • thumbs down for the lower voice Valium.

(i hate when ppl post videos hard to hear in purpose)

  • @mrnormalnormal my concern is that from what I hear the H80's and H100's as well as other corsair coolers have issues with the pumps going out and the systems just failing over all. I don't want to risk the chance of having my cpu, or board burn up due to a faulty water cooled system. I may just have to replace the vengeance with some low profile corsair ram and add the cooler i want.

  • @TheScalesHaveFallen I can not confirm that. And I also never read what you are talking of while doing research for the H60.

  • @TheScalesHaveFallen while i have not really heard of pumps going out on the h100, I can tell you from personal experince that the pumps make noise.. ALOT of it, (check corsairs fourms) Supposedly it was a bad batch. I had to RMA mine and hopefully it comes silent (the pump worked fine just made a noise that was a little too loud).. other then that the cooling on it is beast!

  • @g0d53nd I believe that the pump issues that I read of was with the H80, the H100 had a fan controller problem. They may have fixed all the issues since then. Would you mind if you gave me an update on the new cooler when you receive it in. I would like to know if it still has the same noise issue you mention. I'm very interested in getting one. Its either that, or replacing my ram with some low profile ram, so the noctua can fit it haha. I'm currently running with an asetek watercooler.

  • will it fit in a coolermaster CM stormtrooper?

  • @Toddsolario easily

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms @TimeToLiveCustoms can i install an usb 3.0 in front panel on haf 922?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms can i install an usb 3.0 in front panel on haf 922?

  • @m0cahacker only in an optical bay as an add on

  • Would you know if this cooler would fit on an lga 2011 board, I'm wondering if the ram would be too close to the socket to mount this thing. I also have a cm storm trooper case.

  • @TheScalesHaveFallen it fits 2011 fine it all depends what ram you have. if the ram fits normally it will fit on 2011

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Well I have some corsair vengeance ram, I don't know if the heat sinks would . Would you recommend this cooler over say a Corsair H80 or H100? Which of the coolers do you think would be better. I'm unsure about the self contained water cooled systems because I hear they have issues with the pumps going out. What do you think?

  • @TheScalesHaveFallen doesnt fit at all with the tall vengeance ram mate :(

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Well, let me just tell you the setup I have I have the Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2 - X79, with 16 gigs of corsair vengeance ram. Give that set up, you think this monster would fit on the board in between the two ram slots. I would certainly like to know, I'm running a small self contained water cooler right now on it. Would like to upgrade to this thing, or the Corsair H100, what do you think is better?

  • @TheScalesHaveFallen Ive already told you the D14 is NOT compatable with full sized vengeance mate. Ive reviewed both of the coolers in the past fella so just look up the H100 video for an indepth look :)

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Would you know of any air cooler that is compatialble with full size vengeance on the lga 2011 platform with the board I mentioned to you. I'm looking for something that can keep my cpu cool while not compromising on the memory. If you can give me some info on this I would gladly appreciate it.

  • @TheScalesHaveFallen Youd have to get a H100 mate

  • doesnt fit over my ram QQ

  • Comment removed

  • Mine came today and with my 2500K @ 4.4GHz with 1.25V vcore, under heavy load the delta is 9C cooler than my Gelid Tranquillo. Best cooler I've ever bought :-)

  • I'm getting this. But I wonder, with the Fractal R3 stock fans setup, do you orient the D14 to blow through the rear exhaust (where there is a fan already in the R3), or do you orient it to blow towards the top of the case through the grille?

Also, if I would get rather high CPU temps, what would you recommend buying for the Fractal R3 as far as additional fans/placement goes? Not talking brands, just generally, like "add a top exhaust/side intake" etc.. :)

  • @ericohman through the back, if you aim it out the top it will suck heat off of your GPU

  • Anyone know if this fits in the cooler master storm scout?

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY It fits in my HAF 912+ if that's any use :-)

  • @smallpebble7 Yup, it fits! I just got it and was a perfect fit!

  • jesus when he gives a top down view all i could think is can i get some mobo with that heat sync please.... this thing is absolutely huge... its making debating getting it vs the H100 close loop hydro.... also ill be ocing at about 4.5 and i feel the h100 with out cool it what do you think?

  • NZXT HAVIK 140 comparison with noctua nh-d14 needs to be done

  • I now have i7 2600k. If i overlock it to 4.3 ghz, will i see a noticeble difference? (Sorry for bad english)

  • :O firs time you sad "hey guys its tiny tom logan back whit another video"

  • So Noctua NH-D1 or the Corsair Hydro Series H100 Liquid CPU Cooler ? :)

  • Best Heatsink I have ever bought..

  • will this fit in the haf 912

  • How good would the cooling performance on a i7 2600K be, also would the g.skill ripjaws x fit underneath?

  • @LAFTECH1 just go watch my 2600k review dude cos I use the D14 in that. and yes the gskills fit fine :)

  • Will this fit with a.. Sabertooth p67 MB, with 2 4gb corsair dominator (with heatsink on-top removed) and a Palit gtx580 GPU

  • @BrooklynBros with the tops off the ram it will fit fine dude

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Ok cheers :)

  • Hey man, thanks for the great review...I really appreciate your work

  • Hey guys will this big thing fit in my asus z68 pro?

  • @Joshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh1 yes dude it will, as long as your case is big enough :)

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Wow you answer questions! thanks so much man, by far the best tech channel on youtube.

  • @Joshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh1 yes it will.

  • @Joshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh1 Yessss with low profile ram.

  • great honest review.. cheers mate

  • do you think Vengeance would clear that fan?

  • Love your programs keep it coming mate

  • should I buy it or w8 for bulldozers guys?

    right now I've got 555 or 550 am3 3.1ghz 2 cores

  • In the Antec 902 v3 case, the main 200mm exhaust fan is at the top. Will there be enough room on an Asus P6X58D-E mobo to fit a graphics card in the first PCIe slot when this NH-D14 cooler is pointing upwards?

  • @JoeDBean it should be fitted exhausting out the back NOT out the top

  • Tom seems very melancholic

  • What is the best fan configuration?

    1.Like it is stock

2.A 120mm fan on each side of the cooler and no fan in the middle

3.Middle fan and an exhaust fan

    4.Three fans?

    Thanks

  • @markothevrba stock imho. it doesnt need to be messed with

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Thanks :)

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms i wanna buy a noctua D14 but i have coirsair high profile vengeance ram 2x4gb on a Asus p8p67 motherboard but it doesnt fit does it fit if i use the D14 in the vertical position so it blows air out of the top of my case will it fit that way or will it still cover ram slots ?

  • Hey, Nice review. Thanks :).

I bought Asus MoBo Extreme-Z edition X68 model and I am building up a PC. Just ordered "Gskill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL" RAM and ND-D14 Heatsink. Now I am worried if it will fit anywhere? I man the RAM sticks or will I have to get some other low profile RAM? Like XMS3 or Vengeance as you suggested.

Kindly do reply soon if possible as all the stuff that I have ordered would be arriving tomorrow.

    Regards

    Chaztin

  • @chaztin ripjaws X fits fine

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms that will be great :). Thanks.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms how come you never reviewed the V8?? or maybe i just cant find the video

  • I know there's clearance issues with certain ram - if im using a GD80 msi board, I can expect it to block at LEAST two dimm slots - my question is if it covers more then the two~ (I'm willing to give up 2 slots - besides, who really needs more then 8gb anyway for personal use? heh)

I could get low profile ram sure - but I'm wanting to use either dominator, or low latancy vengance (with heatspreaders at normal size)

  • @Rubytyr dominators youll need to remove the tops. and just buy low profile vengance. You dont need big heatsinks anyways they dont get hot.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms ah ok, so even the furthest-away ram slots have height issues =/ thanks for the tip!

  • ermm guys guys, will ths fit inside haf 912 plus, with p8p67 b3 asus mobo and mushkin blackline? atm i'm using stock cooler and damnn my temp around 60-70c

    thank you

  • @pikor666 yeah it will fit fine

  • I purchased one of these for my 1090T and after re-seating four times I am still having problems. This unit is hard to install in my Antec 902 v3 and to be honest I am going to return it and go back to my stock cooler. Next time i will go with my gut instinct and get a Zalman CNPS 11x. This cooler is supposed to be smaller and have better thermals than the Silver Arrow and NH-D14.

  • @imortalsappy Ive tested it....... and it doesnt.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms With the nocuta my 1090T @ 3.2Ghz runs at 30 - 34C when the system temp is at 38 - 39C. Is there something im missing?

  • @imortalsappy

im using a 1090t as well. check the base for flatness. i had to exchange my nh-d14 4 different time before i finally got one with a flat base. even then, i ended up lapping it.

  • How does it do on the motherboard though like is it to much weight , this might be a stupid quiestion but man that is massive.. i feel like its alot of weight on the mobo

msg me if you would please!!

  • @weszzz1234 its fine dude :)

  • Would a muskin ridgeback 4gb kit fit underneath this? Also, what would be a decent overclock on my i5 2500k using the D14?

  • @AgodlyOne yeah fits fine. Overclock all depends what your CPU is capable of. The D14 will max it though.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Thanks!

  • I´ve heard something about Amd Phenom II x4 965 starts to clock down when it hits 60*c. Is this true? if not when does it start to clock down (throttle?) ?

  • If you have the space and money get this heatsink. My Phenom IIx4 925 overclocked to 3.7GHz idles at ambient temps (not joking) and at load hits 48C after 1 hour of Prime 95.

Also installation is stupid easy (for AMD) and you don't have to worry about ram clearance unless you have really tall ram heatsinks. My G Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 fits under the actual heatsink

  • @sharpshot64

haha, saw your review on newegg.
