ok, i NEED to know some stuff,im just getting into making music. First off,was the guitar riff in the beginning 9 seconds from that keyboard? and what is the best software to make music with or what is the best keyboard/midi? and what the hell does all of it mean, are there any websites for this stuff?
Gah. Loved when you played the Medicate solo haha. Awesome synth. I'm thinking about getting this, microKORG, or microKORG XL. Suggestions? And for people wondering about the Steve Vai song, it's "For the love of god".
Great vid, especially the Steve Vai cover at the end. You use of the pitch wheel makes one almost forget that you're not playing a JEM. I'm more of a guitar guy myself, but this has actually made me consider buying a micron - which in fact I did last week.
thanks very much dude, thats good to know, it's a really cool keyboard, i'm more of a guitar person myself too, i did a keyboard video cause i was quite excited bout this keyboard, and i wanted to sorta spread the word, i might do a new/better demonstration though
im looking to purchase my first synth and cant decide between the micron or the microkorg. i wanna make techno and music similar to mgmt. any opinions on what would be better are greatly appreciated.
Major MAJOR difference...Alesis has a great synth line...I have a few of the Legacy products....Alesis QS 8.1...Freaking awesome synthesizer, and a nano piano...I've thought about one of these little synthesizers or perhaps if a get rich an Andromeda A6 :)
You should make music for video games!! This is a really cool video. Keep an eye out for some of mine, i will have them posted on here before too long.
This is a very good synth to start with, and it's cheap. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it's tedious to customize your synth sounds. Not that the interface is hard...you just rely on one main knob to do everything.
If your buy a Hardware synth (Micron, R3, Microkorg etc) then you could use headphones, but to get the sound out of the unit you will need an external amp, powered monitor speakers or a mixer
You only need a computer if your using Soft Synths like the Arturia Minimoog, CS80V, Albino 3, Kontakt etc
i see how you have a cable going into your output, but in the reference manual it says you need two going from your output to a mixer. Even when i do that, it won't work for me at all! I can't even hear anything come from the micron when i plug headphones into a headphone jack and play it. What do you plug yours into?
i plugged mine from output 1 into my crate amp, i really don't know anything about all that mixing stuff and whatnot but i also am able to record it by just plugging it with a 1/4 inch cable to my recording device that's hooked up to my computor
i dont own a alesis but is the mixer plugged in into a speaker? because if u just plug it into a mixer you wont get any audio output if the mixer isn't connected to a speaker. also make sure your using the right cable, it should be the same or similar cable you use to plug in an eletric guitar to an amp
well hopefully this helped and i hope to get an alesis soon :)
yeah, it was on the octavarium thing- also you can edit any sound/make your own sounds with portamento, and make the sliders so they control the amount/speed of portamento
sorry, i answered that before that response but for some reason it didn't post, what i said was that it doesn't have speakers, usually the only ones that have speakers are the cheaper, lower end keyboards as opposed to like professional synths
deffinately, and as you probably know, it does so much more than i have here so i was thinking of doing another video sorta like this but with the cooler functions, but i'm still not really good at keyboard
You nailed the bit of Octavarian that you played so you can't be that bad. If you wanted to do that I'd be interested, I'm trying to decide between getting this or a Novation Xiosynth so I'm looking at detailed videos of the two here.
The micron.. it has a vocoder right? I've never seen a vocoder video and I LOVE the Micron.. but I need an analog vocoder for some of my stuff... So it does have one right?
