  • That Octavarium sound is spot on!

  • 1:49 nice steve vai instrumental. For the love of god ha

  • Hellow!!

I use it ,too in Japan.

    Please show me. from yuuji

  • Nice shirt ;)

  • Dude, you are awesome!

  • ok, i NEED to know some stuff,im just getting into making music. First off,was the guitar riff in the beginning 9 seconds from that keyboard? and what is the best software to make music with or what is the best keyboard/midi? and what the hell does all of it mean, are there any websites for this stuff?

  • I have one and they're amazing, I was just wondering if anyone knows any famous bands that use a micron?

  • poor rondo

  • Quite talented, you are.

  • This has sounds from the get-go right?

I don't have any midi and already have a midi controller, i just want to plug into a pa system and go!

  • aww well i wanted to hear some of that arpeggiator and the other effects!

  • My name is Alesis:)

  • The "Vai"-Part on 1:49 is great! Good work on a great synth!

  • I saw your fingers slip a little when playing on the black keys. Those thing are hard to hold down on the micron,so slippery..

  • hey what do u need for the sound? like do u need a pa system?

  • @AJokeWithoutLaughter You need an amp/monitor or some headphones. The jack has to be like an AMP cable though (1.4 inch I believe).

  • I'm a Guitarist looking to branch out in my band by adding some keys to the mix at times.

Does this unit simulate the following...

    Xylophone / other hammered chimes

Single strings, as in justo ne single violin or cello ect.

Lofi / white noise type synth sounds.

  • Leads, yeah, It has about 300 out of the box...

  • at 0:54 its one of mozart's sonataz-alla turka.

  • What was the song at 1:33?

  • Nice try on the Octavarium Solo haha

  • sei un tamarro

  • For the love of GOD~! : )

  • What is the classical piece that you are playing at :54 with a harpsichord sound. Nice playing by the way.

  • how much do these cost used or new? i would love to know where i can get this for super cheap!

  • i got mine new for 300 off of ebay which is pretty cheap.

  • $319 for mine SamNecktie, but that was with free shipping and 2 midi to midi cables. Off of eBay of course : P

  • put a vid up of the entire vai cover! great job!

  • Gah. Loved when you played the Medicate solo haha. Awesome synth. I'm thinking about getting this, microKORG, or microKORG XL. Suggestions? And for people wondering about the Steve Vai song, it's "For the love of god".

  • hey what steve vai cover is this ? nice playing by the way

  • Octavarium!!!!

  • Where can i download patches for the micron?

  • Great vid, especially the Steve Vai cover at the end. You use of the pitch wheel makes one almost forget that you're not playing a JEM. I'm more of a guitar guy myself, but this has actually made me consider buying a micron - which in fact I did last week.

    Thank you!

  • thanks very much dude, thats good to know, it's a really cool keyboard, i'm more of a guitar person myself too, i did a keyboard video cause i was quite excited bout this keyboard, and i wanted to sorta spread the word, i might do a new/better demonstration though

  • @Peetahwithhisgeetah what preset was the steve vai cover on

  • im looking to purchase my first synth and cant decide between the micron or the microkorg. i wanna make techno and music similar to mgmt. any opinions on what would be better are greatly appreciated.

  • You want a microkorg.

  • holy shit

those are the two im deciding between

    MIND BLAST

  • im trying to make the EXACT same decision. The only difference is I dont like MGMT

  • Very nice playing! Awesome sounds.

  • Nice playing. And nice shirt.

  • DREAM THEATER

  • wooooooooooooooooo!

    dream theater

  • this or a microkorg ? or whaat else, for around that price :)

  • they about the same price

    :)

but if u want sounds for a jam or song

    pick Micron.

if uwant to build your own sounds with a very versatile interface, choose korg.

  • Major MAJOR difference...Alesis has a great synth line...I have a few of the Legacy products....Alesis QS 8.1...Freaking awesome synthesizer, and a nano piano...I've thought about one of these little synthesizers or perhaps if a get rich an Andromeda A6 :)

  • Mortiis at 1:11?

  • whats the name of the second song??..it sounds awesome!

  • It's Ocatavarium by Dream Theater

  • the steve vai cover was unexpected and very good

  • indeed this lil kyboard is very good :)

  • its a synthesizer actually

  • ok smart ass jony lol

  • theres a big difference

  • massive difference

  • You should make music for video games!! This is a really cool video. Keep an eye out for some of mine, i will have them posted on here before too long.

  • datti all'ippica...

  • nice dream theater shirt.

  • Never mind that last one! What patch are you using for For the Love of God??

  • What is the song at the end?? Awesome sounds.

  • Hello sounds awesome i just got one of these how do ii get to the add setup menu to add the lead synth im confused?

    Thanks

  • hahaha loved the SteVai solo :P

  • FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ,COOL.

  • This is a very good synth to start with, and it's cheap. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it's tedious to customize your synth sounds. Not that the interface is hard...you just rely on one main knob to do everything.

  • For the love of god!! great stuff!!!!

  • dose this have a good arpegiator?

  • yes, very diverse

  • Are these all stock sounds, or software?

  • stock

  • What is the name of the Sinphony he played at 0:55 ????

  • its called the turkish march by mozart

  • hiya, Im looking at getting a synth but am confused, do they need to be hooked upto anything to be used ie software? Thanks

  • Some use a computer but most like this one and the MicroKorg can just be plugged into some speakers or an amp use 1/4 inch jacks.

  • to Petethepedalopirate:

If your buy a Hardware synth (Micron, R3, Microkorg etc) then you could use headphones, but to get the sound out of the unit you will need an external amp, powered monitor speakers or a mixer

You only need a computer if your using Soft Synths like the Arturia Minimoog, CS80V, Albino 3, Kontakt etc

  • i am planing to get this for holiday purposes/portabe reasons. can i use a 3.5mm jack? and how is this powered?

  • Cool toy! I want one! Cool video!

  • I think I'm sold by the Octavarium mono sound

  • what do u have that hooked up to?

  • guitar amp

  • Loved the Turkish March bit ^^

    Good job (y)

  • cool choice with steve vai...

  • That 4th song you played... is that from the video game Tales of Symphonia? :D

  • not at all

  • haha you are so correct, that's typical Tales of chords! :D

  • The tone you got while playing For The Love Of God works just perfectly for the song

  • OCTAVARIUM!!

  • how much are these?

  • €350 on thomann. quite cheap actually

  • what are the settings for the song at 0:45?

  • I like your playing style, laid back but nice :)

  • Octavarium ftw!

  • 4 the love of the God :D

  • Octavarium D:

  • Octavarium is great!

  • nice video, but i need help with my micron!

i see how you have a cable going into your output, but in the reference manual it says you need two going from your output to a mixer. Even when i do that, it won't work for me at all! I can't even hear anything come from the micron when i plug headphones into a headphone jack and play it. What do you plug yours into?

  • i plugged mine from output 1 into my crate amp, i really don't know anything about all that mixing stuff and whatnot but i also am able to record it by just plugging it with a 1/4 inch cable to my recording device that's hooked up to my computor

  • i dont own a alesis but is the mixer plugged in into a speaker? because if u just plug it into a mixer you wont get any audio output if the mixer isn't connected to a speaker. also make sure your using the right cable, it should be the same or similar cable you use to plug in an eletric guitar to an amp

well hopefully this helped and i hope to get an alesis soon :)

  • Nice shirt. ;)

  • rofl 0:54, love it!

  • for the love of god :O i didnt know u could play that on a keyboard XD

    amazing bro 5 stars

  • Hey, I was hoping you could tell me the name of the piece you start playing at 0:54?

    Sorry to sound stupid! lol!

    John

  • i think it's called the turkish march... something like that

  • is it turkish or hungarian

  • it is turkish, the other one is hungarian dance, and it's a very different song

  • Hey does the Micron have portamento?

  • yeah, it was on the octavarium thing- also you can edit any sound/make your own sounds with portamento, and make the sliders so they control the amount/speed of portamento

  • Wow thanks, I'm definitely getting this now.

  • Another question... :P

Does it have built in speakers or do I need to connect it to some?

  • You can also use headphones, but you need a 1/4 inch adapter if the headphones are 1/8 inch

  • But does it have built in speakers? 0.o

  • sorry, i answered that before that response but for some reason it didn't post, what i said was that it doesn't have speakers, usually the only ones that have speakers are the cheaper, lower end keyboards as opposed to like professional synths

  • Ok thanks :D

  • this little thing does a lot more than i expected. would you recommend it?

  • deffinately, and as you probably know, it does so much more than i have here so i was thinking of doing another video sorta like this but with the cooler functions, but i'm still not really good at keyboard

  • You nailed the bit of Octavarian that you played so you can't be that bad. If you wanted to do that I'd be interested, I'm trying to decide between getting this or a Novation Xiosynth so I'm looking at detailed videos of the two here.

  • alright, i'll get on it dude- i'll figure out somethin to do and put it up in a few days, i'll message you or somethin when its up

  • thanks dude, appreciate it!

  • you just sold me on this thing

  • you rock man!! that steve vai's cover is awesome

  • which program did you use around 1:10???

  • Micron or Micro Korg?

  • dude i have had both and i LOVE the micron way way way better then the korg. pick the micron

  • The micron.. it has a vocoder right? I've never seen a vocoder video and I LOVE the Micron.. but I need an analog vocoder for some of my stuff... So it does have one right?

  • yep, with a few different voices, i forget what they're called but they're cool

  • NICE! It's settled then =D Buying one tomorrow hahaha =P

  • what are you running it through?

  • i have the same keyboard. and i was just wondering what was the first program you were using? (it sounds like a music box)

  • have u ever used the vocoder on it nd is it good? tryin to decide between one of these and the microkorg...

  • yeah its good

  • this beethoven shit or whatever sounds cool!

  • steve vai =]

    legend solo atrist.

good to know i have a fellow fan.

    decent stuff mate.

  • thanks broseph- gotta love the vai, and i thought it'd be cool to learn it for the keyboard. i would've learned a different song but thats the only one thats not craaazy rediculous to play

  • well hey, it doesnt have to be crazy to be a truely legendary song. good work =]

  • do you have to hook it up with a computer

  • i'm thinking about getting a micron but i want to know was it hard to set-up or was it like ready to use right out of the box?

  • i didn't get it out of a box so i'm not sure but i doubt you have to do anything to set it up

  • PWN! DREAM THEATER FOR THE WIN!

  • no, i kinda wish it did

  • Cool, I'm thinking of buying that, so how much did you pay for it? Dose it have a standard piano sound?

  • im a beginner at synthing and mixxing, is this good?

  • it was good, though

  • Do you reckon this thing can do a

Vox Continental sound? what about a Wurlitzer or a Rhodes Mark V

  • i have no idea what you're talking about

  • Don't worry then.

Vox Continental is an electric organ and Wurlitzer and Rhodes are electric pianos.

    Thanks anyway.

  • you arent after a synthesizer man... Make the investment and get something like a nord stage (the god) or a roland stage keyboard for all the funky electromechanical sounds. then if you wanna fiddle around in synth get something cheap like a micron.

dont get something like this if your into real keyboards like the old organs and electric pianos

  • Yeah I just posted that comment out of curiosity really. I bought a Juno D a couple of weeks a go and it does exactly what I want it to. Cheers!

  • your a noobz0r.. oh fuck just kidding i just heard u do steve vai... YEA

  • alesis micron or microkorg?

  • micron all the way

  • the first part (.11 seconds onwards) sounds like the sound track to the 60s tv show the prisoner.

  • haha love the DT references. Both in playing octavarium and wearing it lol!

  • Steve Vai cover was amazing..

ive never even thought to try it on keyboards

  • i love microns but the sideways pitch wheel would drive me nuts

  • is that because your use to the pitch wheel facing vertical like on the minimoog?

  • W00t I love people like this! I just got back from the store and I am SOOOO getting a Micron the guy in the store was surprised I played on it so well. It was like I already knew how to play(I do play keyboard)

  • ah yeah man deffinately- like when i go to guitar center and play like the big kickass korgs it seems like im actually good at keyboard haha

  • lol, your playing "For the Love of God" on a synth.

  • How do the tones on it compare to those of jordan ruddess?

  • jordan rudess had crazy-rediculous korgs so its just mad hard to compare- also this doesnt have a piano setting

  • IT's LIKE JOE ZAWINUL SAID: THE SYNTHESIZER IS NOT A PIANO! THEY ARE DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS. I OWN A TRITON EXTREME AND OTHER GEAR AND I WOULD HAVE STILL BOUGHT IT ALL EVEN WITHOUT THE BOSENDORFER SAMPLES.

  • what do you use to amplify this?

  • im seriously considering buying a micron 2 questions 1. is it hard to learn and 2. is it worth it.

  • no, yes

  • ha, thanks

  • haha no problem- if you want any more specific questions just message me and i'll answer to the best of my ability

  • someone gave you a thumbs down but i cancelled it out with an up lol. yeah it's worth it and how hard it is to learn depends on what you know about synths already i suppose but learning is kind of the fun part imho

  • thanks for your 2 cents and the thumbs up!

  • so does this thing have a bunch of pre-programmed sounds in it that you use and can adjust and then you just plug it into the amp to play?

  • yeah it's a lovely machine but it needs more keys for sure

  • bravissimo!!!!!!!!!

  • great stuff, what is the last piece you're playing ? i like it a lot.

  • for the love of god by steve vai

  • thanks, and keep up the good music.

  • what song is that second clip?

  • octavarium

  • that second sound is so gorgeus, especially for a keyboard that price. thats why im getting it.

  • yeah you can run a guitar through it, the only thing is that you play the guitar through the keyboard so even if you play a note, itll always be the note youre playing on the keyboard, not the note youre playing on the guitar.

i tried it on my microKORG, im just assuming its the same. seriously, its not that thrilling.

  • yea, its the vocoder.

  • i think theoretically you could if you used one of the vocoders, but im not sure, but the jacks are 2 inputs, for like a microphone to use the vocoders, 2 outputs, a sustain pedal jack and an expression pedal jack

  • great video man. loved that steve vai jam at the end. very cool synth. i've got a microkorg but now i'm considering the micron as well.

  • yeah i was thinkin bout gettin the micron, since they were both the same price but i just went with this one- its sweet cause this ones got some vocoder stuff too

  • micron is way better

  • nice octavarium shirt and nice octavrium solo lol

  • Lol the turkish march was stupid and awesome at the same time.
