  • Bien hecho! For the conservation of Filipino Hispanic culture and Spanish language, write to me. Viva Zamboanga y las Filipinas!

  • @HispanicFilipino Que tal?

Felicidades!

  • excuse me, the reason why the city council is pushing for zamboanga city be called "asia's latin city" is bcoz of our dialect, which is the only one remaining of its kind in our country, since its already a dead dialect in cavite, the only other area where chavacano was widely spoken.its not bcoz mr lobregat has spanish blood in him!!!and zambo city is known for its mestizo/mestiza inhabitants and its rich spanish heritage,at least thats what sets zc apart from other cities in the philippines!

  • mi amor Zamboanga!!

  • it's been 5 yrs since i left zamboanga

tho i don't speak the native language perfectly, it helped me a lot in our spanish class haha! =]

  • zaboanga historically is of spanish settlement..but the spanish married to native filipinos...and its language remain spanish

  • namiss ko tuloy zamboanga,its almost 2yrs since i left.....tnx for sharing.

  • Lobregat is a descent of a Spanish family. Historically, Zamboanga belongs to the Subanon and the Muslim. And surprisingly, while city officials promote Zamboanga as Asia's Latin City, they always give out small replicas Muslim sailboats called Vinta and traditional weapons called Kris and other forms of knives as souvenir items to dignitaries and VIP.

  • Lobregats are typical spaniards they enriched them selves and give very little to the poor. Zamboanga didn't change from Agan to lobregats.... how we miss the days with Cesar C. Climaco

  • Its original inhabitants were Subanon and later Muslims. It's branded Asia's Latin City because of Hispanic visitors and of Mayor Celso Lobregat's prodding for the City Council to pass and approved a resolution on it.

  • Zamboanga City was a former Muslim province, along with Basilan and Zamboanga del Sur and being branded as Asia's Latin city is not really approproate.

  • taki yo na manila, tarda ya.tan mis yo kon el mio zamboanga... sabroso era bolbe pero no sabe yo quando???? maskin yo no sabe.... hay bida!!!! maka triste man

  • Sorry,I don't speak Spanish (Zamboanga dialect) so I can't understand what you are saying. Can you translate to English

    or Tagalog so I'll understand?

    Thanks:

  • It goes something like this...792004ap- " I'm here in Manila, been here for ages, i miss my Zamboanga...thou it's nice to go home but i don't know when...I've no idea when...life! i feel so lonely" ...i hope this helps you understand this chavacano sentence. And i hope it's not to late.LOL

  • ateestela, I am not from Philippines, do not speak awkwardly, only Spanish and English American, but what I can understand of what he wrote 792004ap is the following:

I am here in Manila, I me have been late in returning to Zamboanga, it would be delicious to return, but would not know when might do it, there is life, I am sad.
