I can appreciate rap, and I know a few songs about Vietnam and stuff, not just bitches and hoes, but metal requires more talent (have you seen the drummer fromIron Maiden?) and it also has slot of variety, especially against rap which has 90% of it's songs about weed and bitches, where as there's pow metal, progressive metal, death metal, etc.

The Roots are a live band and so are the Refugees. Andre 3000 use live instrument so Stic Man from does Dead Prez and Timbaland as well. You also have DJ Quik, Dr Dre and Mike Shinoda name some more! Drums and Electric guitar are not the only instruments out there that take talent so don't be so close minded! Broaden your horizon.

Exactly. Rappers songs usually focus around money, drugs and women. There is no melody and you don't have to be a talented singer. Metal however, requires you know your instruments well, write meaningful lyrics and are generally, nicer people.

The point most metal bands try to make is their musical abilities, not really lyricism as much. The Roots are a live band and so are the Refugees. Andre 3000 use live instrument so Stic Man from does Dead Prez and Timbaland as well. You also have DJ Quik, Dr Dre and Mike Shinoda name some more! Drums and Electric guitar are not the only instruments out there that take talent so don't be so close minded! Broaden your horizon.

i'll agree that theres stupidity on both sides.on one hand, theres annoying kids who dress in black and claim to be complete rebels and think DF is the greatest band ever. on the other, a bunch of spoilt 'wankstas' who act like retards, wear loose pants, think they know everything and think materialism is good. even classical fans have a bunch of pompous fags who think dressing in frills and watching Andre reiu makes them 'cultured'. in short, blues people rule(JOKES). but both sides have issues

yea im 17...everyone my age listens to the rap bullshit...(a guy with a beatbox and a mic) rock/metal is true music! you actually play instruments! and requires skill! all rap is is rhyming (sometihng a child can do) they just do it realy fast and add curse words in it to make it seem a bit more "adult"

i mostly live and breathe hip hop. it's my culture, origin, and life. you're talking to a guy who can recite most of tupac's songs by heart.
sometimes i stray a little and listen to metal though. gotta have a little variety ya kno. plus, it's great music to work out to.
