  • what products do you use to Detangle and contion babe? please post ur products

  • I love your hair. Did you get it cut for it to be shaped like that?

  • girl you speaks the truth for years I dredded water on my hair. but i realize that hydration is the key to moisture for this 4c, 4B hair. I mean i know it sounds wicked but my hair will drink up oil so fast. I dont understand it is so thirsty... and Yes I spray water on it thru out the day.

  • your hair is beautiful

  • Beautiful!

  • uuuuumm..I have had only 2 to 3 perms in my life and i really really really want to know if there's any way to return my natural hair back because my hair was MEGA thick before i started using a perm..so i'm asking is there any way that i can make the transition?

  • @ANNISEable if ur hair is permed theres only two things u can do - either cut it all off and start over OR let ur hair grow out and cut the perm out little by little (thats what i did - for 7 months) perms are permanent, u cant wash it out. u might get some wave back but never ur thick coils. good news, hair grows faster when ur not perming, but we all have some waiting/patient time to do :)

  • @cynthiarf

thats what i did.. i just waited and i cut off all the permed hair. not a very good job so i had to go to beauty shop and she chopped it evenly then she conditioned it. But then i decided i could condition this hair myself

  • do u not give product advice ?

  • Comment removed

  • I just started watching your vids today, and that is one head of healthy, thick tightly curled hair! I love it.

  • @yanirocks1 thanks! and that was almost 2yrs ago - u should see it now - patience, correct manipulation, and daily conditioning is KEY! now ive got the proof :)

  • i love ur hair!

  • Your shit is badass! I love your hairstyles! You got a diverse array of shit on here, ma! I'm subbing.

  • can i just say HAIR ENVY!!!!!

i did a bc twice last year just to give myself a new look and i totally miss my big hair! you are ROCKING it girl..

question, since i have shorter hair now, should i be doing a finger comb method, i didn't think that i could. it is growing so there is something to grab but i thought it wouldn't make sense. does anyone know?

  • @cheezymouseful hey chick thanks!!

my question is why shouldnt u do the fingercomb method? ur fingers can feel a tangle b4 u would just rip it out with a tool. any hair length can use this method

  • @cynthiarf i've been finger combing recently and it is a lot better. i like the way my hair looks and feels now!

thanks so much for the vid!

  • You have unbelievably thick hair...WOW. I use Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap with hemp to wash my hair (diluted). Then I use Whole Foods conditioner but I dilute it. My hair has never been in better shape.

  • Gurrllll your hair is gorgeous!

  • I hate suave! great vid!

  • Do you use any oils to seal the moisture in your hair? My hair responds best to that and I want to know if I can use this technique on my hair while incorporating oils.

  • @aurianaserena yes u can. after towel wrapping, allow ur hair to air dry a bit (without touching :) then apply ur oils by rubbing only (i keep it to my ends only) this way ur curl pattern wont be disturbed. i have a vid around the same time i made this in a series - its called [moisturizing] where i show how i do this

  • I think this video may be great for me. My hair type is like hers a mixture between fro and curly. I love my curls but they are so frizzy and then I have a slight fro texture that my curls aren't really define. i have to put a lot of eco gel for my hair to be curly. People want to touch it but I'm so embarrassed about how hard it is from the get after it dries that I tell them no. One girl chased me around work trying to touch it and I just ran around avoiding her. I know silly and stupid. :(

  • @nakiel26 LMAO!! i could just imagine u running around at work :D

i dont like people touching my hair when it has gel either :/

  • This is probably the best video I have come across on here! Great music and explanation... Your hair type is just like mine and you rock it so well. I get tired of twisting all the time...its great to see someone just wearing a real wash and go. My hair is so dense it takes forever to dry....and it seems to stayed tangled. I'm going to definitely try wetting my hair more frequently and all the other techniques you went over...Thanks!

  • u sound like janet jackson alittle bit, btw great hair

  • you sound alittle bit lie janet jackson, btw gret hair

  • HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stop touching my hair Im absolutely in love with it!!! There should be a club for the natural hair women who cant stop touhing it lol!!! Thanks for all the love and encouragement.

  • Great tip about not touching your hair until it's somewhat dryer. I'm going to incorporate that too. Thanks.

Oh, and I will be subscribing.

  • I enjoyed watching this video, I love the music too!!! this helps me, and gives me courage to continue on my natural hair voyage. I'm looking for my hair to grow fuller and longer. Thanks for the info!

  • that's a great routine you have but for ya sistahs who live in places like Chicago like I do or Detroit where its crazy cold we can't go out wet like that everyday! Any advice for us?

  • @MISSMLB08

when i made this vid i was living in nyc - so a sista knows!! check out my winter Wash n Go vid

  • What are you using as a leave in conditioner now?

  • I love this video! I have to watch it once a week. LOL

  • i love your hair :)

  • whatz the name of the product sis?

  • Your hair is thick !!! I LOVE it. Lol, I can't wait for may hair to grow out like this :)

  • I have that jewelry box in the back!!!!!!

  • gosh your hair is so fun to look at .^_^. I just love it. I can't wait til mine gets like that. I'm SO gonna make a psychedelic music video.

  • IM PRAYING FOR THIS AFRO LOL

  • love your hair

  • When you shook your hair, you looked like a black dandelion. Lol. I loved it. :D

  • OMG i've been wacthing videos 4 days and i finally found somone with the same exact hair type. the same curls and every thing. I did my BC a week ago and couldn't fine no one on youtube with my hair pattern. your is beautiful and I can't wait until my hair grow out!!!

  • LOVE the old shcool bop gun by ice cube!!!

  • wow your hair is so THICK! It's beautiful!

  • "Hawaiian Silky" is a good product. i have type 4 hair, and it mosturizes really good. its a spray lotion, you can spray on the palm of the hand and it DONT DRIP !! other words more oil moisturizer whole lot less water.......by the way i use your technique as well, does help the hair grow.

  • Thanks for sharing! Didn't really know what next to do with my hair after washing. Aaaaah so comforting to know that all you need to do is nothing & let it dry......

  • What is the name of the product?

  • okay. thank you so much!! i've recently been wetting my hair before i apply moisturizer to it and it makes it really soft and easy to comb through!! :)

  • you have the most beautifulist hair ive ever seen

  • haaaaaaad to favourite this, this is so wonderful because ive been doign a blowout every time i wash as it was hard to manage when ti dried wet but im definitly gona try this

  • i love watching yur videos i love yur hair but i love yur voice more its so soothing and comforting sounds like janet jacksons :)

  • your hair is sooo pretty! i'm natural and my hair is like real fro material and it only looks like that right after i wash it and put conditoner in it. washing your hair everyday doesn't dry your hair out?

  • @nessb24

nope not at all, in fact its the water that our hair is craving - DAILY - u only have to feel ur hair in the morning to kno this... but water by itself is usually not enough so the condr counters any drying affect. adding too much oil/butter will prevent this moisture from penetrating - now doing this will dry ur hair out

  • @nessb24 dond use soap or shampoo everyday i learned the hard way, but sure wet and condition/ moisturize everyday is GREAT for natural hair!

  • @1Femme1Stud

thanks for clarifying!! exactly, not washing daily, only condr/wet daily

  • omg your hair is gorgeous lady!

  • what song did you use when you were adding water to your hair?

  • @DarkAngelKi the song is Ice Cube ft. George Clinton - Bop Gun (One Nation)

  • I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    im a newbie natural too...June 3, 2010 will make it 7 months :)

my hair is super curly and thick

    i think im a 4b/4c

but the condition i swear by, i use it all the time, is Cholesterol by LeKair. and my leave in conditioner is Cantu Shea Butter

i actually havent really experimented with a whole lot of products cuz although my hair is thick and curly, each individual strand is actually quite fine

but i know that what im using so far works for my hair!

  • @Anyarya

thanks! i live by cantu shea too!! in the beginning my hair loved queen helena cholesterol. i tried lekair but noticed it left more residue behind. if uve already found what works keep using it until it stops - too many make the mistake of trying too many things all the time

  • I believe that the second product you showed (IC product) is for relaxed hair.....Nonetheless....this is informative and I love your final look. I dont have your type of hair (texture). My curls are a lot loose....but your hair is gorgeous!!!

  • Is it hard to wash natural black hair?

  • @jaskamakkara trick qn??:p

yes it is, because it is very thick, so its hard to like comb it and stuff, but if someone else does it for u its much easier!! but the bottom line is that yes, it is quite hard to wash!!! but then it depends on your ancestry and genes!!:):)

  • @Katukunyi Thank you for your answer. I just think it's a shame that many black women feel the need to straighten their hair when it can be unhealthy i've heard.

  • @jaskamakkara what decent or race are you??

and sure no prob!!:):) ur welcome!!

well im black and i understand them!!! like for me,i cannot just wash my hair and walk out of the house, if i did that i doubt it would ever be combable again. i usually have to blow it out,not flat iron but just use a blow drier!! i really do wish i didnt have to ,but because of where i live i must!! its really sad!! the only other alternative would be to shave my hair and umm i am NOT having my head!!:) but yeah!!

  • @Katukunyi I'm a north european so i have quite fair hair. ''i really do wish i didnt have to ,but because of where i live i must!!'' why:S?

  • @jaskamakkara lucky u!!it must be easy to handle huh??haha u have so many qns!! bt its ok ill answr them!!ok so umm im african and i alway blowdry my hair or braid it. but now i moved to another country and the weather is very diff its really humid, humidity and it makes my hair extra frizzy, and when it rains, if i get rained on,the hair tangles, & shrinks like 8 inches and becomes really tangled!!so because of the weather change,i have to straighten my hair all the time othrwise it looks bad!!!

  • @Katukunyi Oh i see.

  • Can any on tell me what TWA means? Thanks

  • i love your hair ! i'm thinking about filming my big cut this weekend ! ill def be back to check out ur vids ! :)

  • no sauve products work for me,when i first started my natural journey i started out with mane and tail conditioner and it word for well very well but when i which to bio infusion and other stuff it broke out my scap and such thanks for the good video

  • I LIKE UR HAIR!!! thick n black!!

  • beautiful hair gurlie, do you seal your hair with oil or a creamy moisturizer like shea?x

  • lmaoo shes so funny

  • Wow, you have a full head of hair. I think you have my hair type. thanks for showing.

  • omg your hair is so thick and healthy very beautiful bless :)

  • i cowash with vo5 conditioners. im gonna try mane n tail conditioner. it says on the bottle that you could use it as a leave in.

  • what shape would you say your hair was cut into or grows?

  • OMG! that Ic fantasia conditioner IS THE DEVIL LOL!!!!

  • Your hair is beautiful

  • I LOVE your eyebrows. They're so thick and luxurious .^_^.

  • @hwiley09 I hope that you are a Man!! SO Gay!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @jleft02 What the hell does my gender have to do w/ you asshole? Because I made a comment about her fucking eyebrows, a typhoon came and wiped out your family? Get a life.

  • i know what your talking about i definitely have that 4b hair

  • for your hair I recommend VO5 co wash every morning (or detangle it with conditioner) wash out...DO NOT TOWEL DRY...Shake Hair like a Dog...then add favorite oils in a spray bottle...Be gentle so curls won't mess up and let air dry...I do this every morning..Major Shrinkage are the only cons.

  • "That's all I do....seriously."

  • Please help me, I stopped cutting my hair around thanksgiving, so now I have a twa and my hair has omg coils, waves curls and kinks but all the strands are very fine. I look like I have a wave neuvo slash jehri curl when I put any type of products in my hair. I have been natural since 96, I have always kept my hair cut very low so it was very wavy all over barbers hate cutting my hair but they loved the waves. Hubby said keep my soulglow hair off the couch. What can I do with this hair.

  • well, i just do what i do in this vid 90% of the time - condition, air dry a bit, rub/scrunch in a moisturizer and or gel, accessorize and go!

  • nice video, i think my hair is same texture is yours.. this was really helpful.

  • What do you use for a leave in now? Since the bubble in your video said organics moved mineral oil up to the 3rd position.

  • You got the same hair type as me. My hair be looking like yours when I get it wet and dry with leave in conditioner.

  • Thank you for this video, I plan on uploading mine as well, as soon as I get it together. I have 4B Hair like yourself and I am always searching for a good softer. I've currently used the AZTEC Bentonite and I was suprised that it worked damn good! Anyhow thank you.

  • Pretty Wings- Is this Maxwell's Twin?

  • Your hair is soo huge! Awesome!

  • im newly natural an i have very dry brittle hair...what are some good products to use to help that out

  • ive found its mostly about daily cowashing...of course a good condr helps but nothing can replace water. condr 'softens' water which softens ur hair. once you find a condr that works for you its just a matter of using it continuously and as daily as possible

  • Your hair is beautiful! I am just starting my natural hair journey, so I don't really know what my hair is going to be like. I can only hope it's as nice as yours. Thanks for the great advice!

  • Your hair is awesome but that conditioner has a lot of parabens in it. Are you still using that product? Have you tried anything with less harmful chemicals in it that works for 4b hair?

I'm looking for something to moisturize but I don't use anything with parabens or sulfates.

  • love ur humor

  • I'm not feeling the suave conditoner either it soooo dried out my hair, i was dissapointed

  • @MsDidi87 Wow, what a head of hair you have. I've been natural for 5 years and I've been doing all the wrong things. I will take some lessons from your video. Thanks!!

  • natural hair is a lot of work.

  • @smedheat

yes its a lot of work to cond this hair w ur fingers and air dry...really? this is work?

why would you say that? do u have this hair or are you just saying whats always been said? curious

  • I hate that Suave conditioner 2

  • Your hair is so very beautiful.

  • your hair is awesome....

  • your hair is absolutely beautiful

  • omg I love your hair so much!

  • afros are so beautiful

  • i love the shake lol

  • Cool video. Very helpful. Do you have a different routine if you need to go to work or class in the morning and you don't have time for your hair to dry?

Also do you still use this leave in conditioner now?

  • i still love this condr but the leav-n method seems to work best in the fall/spring (not hot, not cold)

check out my "winter WnGs" vid

  • so your using the olive oil organics deep condtioner as a leave in? Thats the stuff in the green bottle right? From sallys?? just want to be sure i have the right product

  • @razz0dazzle yeah but since i made this vid they changed formulas (mineral oil now 3rd ingredient) so i dont leave it in anymore :( still trying to figure out how to work with it - or not...lol

  • I use cantu shea butter leave-in conditioner, and it leaves my hair soft with minimal frizz.

  • love your creativity and your style too =)

  • i love ur curls!

  • I love your hair type!

  • What conditioner did you say you used to detangle, sorry I missed it...

  • love ur hair & u are beautiful too

  • i've been using your method for the past week and it works well for me!

  • whoo hoo!! glad to hear it! the more messages like this i get the more convinced i am this IS the best method for our coily hair - not just mine :)

  • your hair is beautiful!!!! ....im currently transitioning, and i cant wait to see what my hair is like! anywho, 5 stars :)

p.s. i love the intro lol

  • Love your hair! I haven't been natural a full year yet after 20-some years of perming. I have like 1/4 of your length and the same hair type. Yours gives me hope!!! thanx!

  • Wow your hair is gorgeous so full and thick LOVELY!

  • I love it!!!! you have cool hair

  • You have the most gorgeous head of thick perfect coily beautiful 4b hair I've ever seen on Youtube!

I'm doing a video about hair types soon-- I'll be forwarding folks to your channel.

  • Lol, you're face at 1:52. Your hair is cool... thanks for the vid.

  • your hair is super thick!!! your pretty too! I just recently uploaded my first ever video of my hair! check it out (it's really amateur)

  • wow this is the best I've seen your hair yet girl gawjus!!

  • Great Hair and great video! Thanks for showing that you don't need to tear your hair out with European-style combs to have great-looking hair!

I know what you mean about Suave coconut - my hair felt nice, but I got some minor scalp irritation from it. Now I use Avalon Organic Lavender or Peppermint.

My natural hair always packed itself down into a TWA (not nice and fluffy like yours) no matter what I did. So I went for the dreads, and just celebrated my 10th anniversary with Sisterlocks.

  • I noticed you like Ice cube music ;)

  • What kind of conditioner do you use?

  • usually just deep conditioners....mainly africas best organics olive oil dc

  • this is a great idea!! :)

  • I think ur hair is awesome

  • AHH!!! You're hair is the exact same as mine!! I also have a mixture of types (like little curls).

  • your hair is so beautiful :D

  • omg, did you shape/cut your hair into that shape?? I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!

also, about how long is your hair?? you sooo my inspiration!! thanks so much in advance!

  • thanks a bunch!

nope, just grew out that way...ive only been trimming since i bc'd

havent measured in a while...might be in an up coming vid :)

  • i tried vo5 and it is pretty good to my 4 type hair

all of mine are made with biotin in it :)

  • beautiful hair and beautiful insight/attitude about our hair. i agree 100% on the combs thing and wetting everyday.

do you get single strand knots? i do and it makes me have to trim very often bc i don't want to just pull them out.

also i find that while my hair may look good cowashing that eventually the shed hair starts to cause tangles if i don't "clear out" by brushing at some point. have you experienced this?

  • i love ur hair....its just lovely

  • Beautiful, thick hair!

  • Also (sorry) do you co-wash every day? I have a feeling that it may work for me but for some weird reason i'm a little scared. My hair makes me emotional like nothing else!

  • ur not alone on that emotional thing! i got the hives bc of a lot of shedding - i was tryin to be strong but freaking out apparently! lol

water fear is from perms/blowouts - this hair LOVEs/needs it!

yup, except twistout days. some days tho i just leave my hair in a puff overnite and just wet it in the shower still in the puff and go!

if ur hairs too short to shake (i dont even shake that hard - be easy :) just wrap in towel or tshirt and hold tight a few seconds to get the drippies out

  • Hey, this is gonna sound strange but is there another way except shaking your head to get it dry? I suffer from migraines, dizziness and nausea easily and the last time i shook my head i had a migraine for 2 days!

  • ok i've gone 3 washes with only finger combing and no combing in between and the curls are near perfect. i do braidouts still though lol

    thanks for the info :D

  • Okay, I LOVED your tutorial! I'm in the process od transitioning. 3 weeks to be exact. How long did it take for you to get your hair to that length? HAve you always had natural hair or did you transition from relaxed hair too? If the latter, how did you care for both types of hair? Thank you!

  • 1st anniversary was july09 - see my 'why i love relaxer' vid - i transitioned too (dec07-july08)

it was difficult to care 4 both, esp as it grew out...u just get to a point and say "its time" and go for it...once its gone, u kind of forget about it once u see ur coils :)

good luck - dont give up!

  • You have gorgeous hair.

  • Hi There. I am newly natural so I am doing lots of vid research. So forgive me if I sound silly but are you saying to use regular condition as a leave in? I have a conditioner I love and I could try it. Thanks!

  • yup, thats what im saying but if you notice excess shedding stop using that type immediately

i use organics oo deep condr mostly and it works great. when i tried hello hydration - well see above and i used 3 times before i stopped!!! dont do that...lol

  • Wow I haven't watched your videos in about a year. Your hair has really grown!! It looks like the youtube community has really helped you out! Great vids going to subscribe!!!

  • yeah big difference from my first vids! welcome back - now that i really have something to say w proof...LOL

thank god for the yt chicks b4 me!!!

    thanks for subbing!

  • We share the same texture! Except mine is looseyloose at the back.

  • I normally go to the salon to get it washed and conditioned but need to save some money so I did it myself. Total fuckin disaster!!!! If I have to go thru this every time I want clean pretty hair I'll just chop this shit off!!!

  • aww, no one should have to feel like this!

im going to write in ur inbox bc theres just not enough txt time here for it all. but the short of it is first finding a poo/condr that works for you, second fingercombing/cowashing daily releases shed hair and hydrates thirsty 4b locs, third brush/comb detangling for our hair should only be done with gel or prods that give hair slip...otherwise dont even try it

  • I ripped out much of my hair because of tangles and knots. It makes me feels so unpretty. I feel lost. I see why women get relaxers. But Im not goin there. Im still frustrated and mad. Please help me!!! should I co wash daily. I normally wear two strand twists for a protective style. I like everybody else is trying to acheive hair growth. I never brush or comb it because I feel it rips out my hair even more. So I finger comb 100% of the time. What am I doing wrong????????

  • Ok..... thank you so much lady!!!! I have been natural since 12/ 20/08. I have had good days and very bad days with the whole trial and error issues. I washed my hair today and I wanted to cry, I still feel like crying.... I had to get myself some wine because I was so depressed and pissed off. I have 4b, 4c hair and washing it and conditioning it and stying it is an all day fucking affair!!!! before the wash I took out two stranded twists, wet it with water & separated it really well.

  • amen to daily cowashes, i dont experience any tangles at all since doing it.

love ur hair, its just too cool

  • i luv ur hair soo much

  • You look and speak like you are apart of the jackon family. Seriously, very cool!

    rest in peace M.J

  • My fro actually grows the same direction too

  • whoa... we do our hair the exact same. and my hair looks like yours when its natural too. I started fingercombing (and not touching it until its dry) inbetween detangling too so my coils wouldn't expand and frizzle up

  • Your hair is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

  • Wow your hair is UNBELIEVABLE! I've never seen anything like it.

  • WOW love the shape of you fro. I dig it! I have a vid posted with my streaks if you want to see. I will post it as a response here.
