Shane was a great character .....I miss The shield, now its been 3 years since the show ended Vic would have done his time with the Feds and he can go back to doing what he does best
Season 4 & 6. At first glance it appears Shane left the team to go make as many catastrophically bad decisions as he can.
But of course who has to clean up the mess, Vic. One of the best scenes is in the finale when Shane calls Vic & starts giving demands but Vic gladly tells him about the deal & he can fuck off.
'What you mean I have to deal with my own problems, nobody is going to help bail me out of them'
It seemed like the show lost a chunk of what made it good when Lem died but I guess it was worth it for the sinking ship mentality that forms b/c of it.
I really like where they went with Shane's character. How Vic & Ronnie are forced to see how truly poisonous Shane is. How even while on the team it continuously with great risk had to bail him out. But the second he gets on his own he's got this pathetic ego trip comparison to Vic, where he thinks he is so much smarter & more skilled than Vic

@xqsmee No racism attached.... Just one of the most powerful scenes Walt did with Co-Star (blew the screen off the television) Anthony Andersen, A.k>A= Antwoine Mitchell.... Give it up for AA..... Glenn was Close to the top prize, but Anthony deserves it for season 4....
shane was the most corrupt, lustful, immoral and intensely real , character ever. every bad thing you ever thought about doing and decided not to, he did: crossed every line there ever was, and he loved his family to death. the sheild is not something you see on tv or in the movies. it is real life shit. absolutely mind blowing. and i thought nypd blue was intense..
loved shane vendrell, such a sad fate in the end. this series is going to stick with me for the rest of my life as the most impactful and engrossing show i have ever watched.
@Blinkyboy99 vic gets away scot-free but has to work in an office for 3 years. he does a deal with an external agency and gets immunity. ronnie gets sent to jail. Shane puts a grenade in Lem's car and kills him.
They went out on top. They stayed faithful to the arc of the story, including obeying the momentum of the story. Walton Goggins as Shane Vendrell is just about the best character in television history.
I have to say that The Shield was one of the best shows on television and nothing comes close today. I just finished watching the whole DVD set and it was fantastic to watch every episode without interruption. Michael Chiklis is so under rated as an actor and doesn't get enough recognition. He is magnificent and so talented. Walt Goggins was great as well and I will miss that show so much. I wish it would come back, but I know its done and ran its course.
michael chiklis is a great actor but i think in the last 2 or 3 seasons of the shield i gotta say walton goggins is just amazing....he is so deep and it is great....LOVE THE SHIELD.....MISS IT SO MUCH
Best show ever. I used to love 24 when I first starting watching the Shield. The Shield season 1 vs 24 season 1,2 and 3 (which were the seasons I watched at the time) seemed to favor 24 so I wasn't sure if I would continue watchinf The Shield but DAMN.... as 24 got worse The Shield kept better and better and better.... BEST SHOW EVER.
I absolutely adore Walton Goggins. Such an amazing actor, so much talent and such a great guy and so darn sexy with his huge ass teeth lol. The Shield was one of the best shows to ever even touch a TV screen. I am so happy that he is now on Justified and has brought a whole other fascinating character to life, can't wait to see more of him.
Long live the Strike Team even though Shane kinda messed it up lol.
Shane was without question my fav role. The ability of the character to make you hate him / love him was a rare thing. He was certainly the most indepth character I think.
The Shield is my fav show of all time after maybe dexter. Shane was my favorite caracter on the show. The final season definitely exposed Vic as a complete hypocrit for everything he said he stood for by screwing over Ronnie. Shane was definitely the most human of all the people on the show and should have received more credit for that role. Hope that Walton Goggins gets more work.
Fucking powerhouse of an actor. His performance in season 6 was some of the most gripping shit I've seen from a series. FX is really killing it with its line-up... probably running the best shows on TV now.
IInteresting that 24 and the Shield had such similar threads running through them. 24 premiered about the same time (close to 9-11). In the premiere, they blew up a passenger jet at the end of the episode.
Walton Goggins was allowed far more room to showcase his talents in season 6 & 7. Before these, even though he stilled played the part well, he was essentially a 2D character, a loudmouth, annoying redneck.
Seasons 6 & 7 changed that though, and he showed himself to be one of the most gifted actors on the show. Season 7 was especially impressive, in my opinion he had the stand-out performance of the season.
I just loved every single moment of this show... this is defenitly one of the best tv shows of all time... but i must confess that i was really sad about the conclusion, although it wasnt possible a different one... I was really sad for ronny (not as much for shane). But still youu can feel the walls closing in, in the last season telling us that there is no possible ending for this guys who broke the law everyday. I loved it and recomend to everyone... You ll be defenitly happy...
Hahahaha! I was so happy when that happened, but I was kind of angry because there was no revenge for Lem. Shane killed himself "For his family", Vic pussied out and told Shane that it was ok that he killed Lem, and Ronnie failed to successfully kill Shane.
Shane Vendrell became my favorite character on The Sheild after he kills Lem, thinking it's for the good of the team - just like Vic killing Terry. I was very intruiged about what we was gonna do next, not mention he acts/says his lines absolutely amazingly!
I can't agree with you considering Vics actions were different from Shanes. Lem was a loyal member of the Strike Team, while Terry was imbedded to bring them down by Aceveda. It takes a coward to kill his own friend, for whatever reason. Vics actions were for the good of the team....not Shanes.
That's my exact mentality! Even Walton Goggins argue that they did the same thing in killing Terry and Lem, but they didn't. My argument is, Vic wouldn't have killed Terry without consulting Shane, right? So Shane should've done the same before blowing his best friend to pieces.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Man, The Shield Finale was incredible!!! I can't believe Claudette shot Vic in the head!!! And when Corrine burned down the Barn with gasoline?!? Never saw that one coming......
I really see to him a great future in a movie career, he has all the baggage, stunning actor, I honestly liked Shane to the end, an incredible character, shown in all the angles, The Shield is the best show I seen so far, even better than 24
I'll always remember Shanes classic line in The Shield when he said he'd always been faithful to his wife, to which Vic laughed. Shane said "What?? Eatin' ain't cheatin' !! Best and most enjoyable show ever, fantastic all-rounders from Ths Strike Team right through to Ass-Inveda!
I remember when The Shield started Shane was just a dumb, horny hick. All teeth, forehead, and Id. By the end, his was the deepest character, next to the main character Vic .
I have loved Shane as played by Walton Goggins. Goggins' character is very unique and Walton was superb in his portrayal of Shane. I really miss Walton Goggins as soon as Shield's run ended.
Walton Goggins is an extremely smart guy and a great actor. He makes a lot of the big actors in movies look lame. I hope he gets a few more breaks. I'd watch a film based solely on the fact that he was in it.
The Shield is the best show I`ve ever seen, nothing comes even close. The characters are so deep, it`s almost scary. Is there anyone who watched the whole series and DOESNT think the scene where Vic is confessing is one of the most powerful moments on TV ever???
I dont think so...
Brilliant TV, The Shield will be missed but never forgotten...
@evexxxxx Vic´s confession is a powerfull moment but one of my favorite moments the i was jaw dropped was when shane blow Lemm, that was something i cant even describe.
There were plenty of "Oh, my God!" or "Holy shit!" moments in The Shield but what made Mackey's confession so great was that the others in the show who were hearing it, like Claudette, Wagenbach, Agent Murray, and her boss, were hearing it for the first time so that they had their own "Oh, my God!" or "Holy shit!" moment. We as the audience knew what the Strike Team had done and only at Mackey's confession was it all admitted without a veil of deceit and secrecy.
ive finished 2 min ago episode 13 from season 7...i cant believe its finished !im disgust ..omg!!!! i want SEASON 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!9,10,11 12 ..theres too many questions unanswered Ronni?Vic?Wagenbach?shit i want more ..this is the one of the best shows iv seen ...addicted
Goggins if I'm not mistaken, won an Oscar about three years ago for co-producing an independent film documentary. He's not lacking for work, I'm sure.
"Walton Goggins (about winning an Oscar in 2001 for The Accountant, a 35-minute movie his own production company, Ginny Mule Pictures, produced): Our short film kind of led to this incredible experience of winning an Academy Award and going on stage right after Sidney Poitier [who won a lifetime achievement award that year]. It did what we hoped it would and that was provide us a calling card for us as filmmakers and our sense of humor"
Shane Vendrell is the richest and most intricate character that I've ever seen on television and Walton Goggins took the role and ran with it. Thanks for everything Walt, you're fucking badass!!!!
The fact that you don't exactly know how to approach Googgins character on the "Shield"(Shane), as a overall bad man or just a good man doing bad things, goes to show you the brilliance and depth of the fantastic writers on the series.
Really? I never knew that. What a shame. I really commend this man's courage for the ability to go through the last episode as Shane. That must have been harsh for him. And he did it so well. I agree that this show had excellent actors. And amazing characters as well. Am I the only one who wishes they were Vic Mackey though? I mean yeah he's corrupt and a cop killing bastard, but to have that ability to get away with ANYTHING is bad ass. Just like Vic.
You make a good point and I agree with you. however In Tony's case, if he did actually die (his fate is officially unknown)Vic Mackey is the man who basically got away with everything. And he's alive and in a way free. He had nothing in the end, but he has that chance to climb to the top again. I guess it's just how you see it.
Screw the Emmys dude. The Emmys, Oscars, Golden Globes and what not are nothing more than a pompous idiotic popularity contesting hosting overrated shows and movies. The Shield had 7 great seasons underneath it's belt and is considered one of the most ground breaking series on the FX network. That in it's self is a true reward.
Wow, this series is so awesome! the finally is quite possibly the one of the greatest a television series has pulled off. Sorpanos should take a page out of the Shields book, ok where do i send the donations to fund a season 8. Love you guys
This guy is one intense actor. The way he portrayed Shane Vendrell, all the way to the end was so realistic. I can't even look at Walton without seeing Shane and seething. That's how talented he is. I also had the honor of meeting him once. Really nice guy.
I wonder if Walton said "We're really going to go out with a bang." because he was hinting at how he was going to kill himself at the end in the last episode.
The Shield was a great show! I never missed a first run episode and I own every season on DVD. I'll miss this show!
I've never been a bitch to a show. I've never followed a tv series. I've watched this show - every episode - for the entire life of the show.
I will genuinely miss being vick mackey's bitch on tuesday nights. I half wish I would have watched the commish first. I can't watch that precursor to mackey now. It would seem naive and silly.
They've broken the mold though. You can't rebuild that show. Everyone is physically or metaphorically dead.
An anticlimactic ending to be sure. I am still trying wrap my mind around it because of it. I would not call that ending great tho, I know that. It's not that I wanted death for Vic, that would have been too easy and lame plus I know real-life a guy like Vic gets tortured/killed by some of his enemys sooner or later. Just left me feeling empty inside... maybe that's the point.
I agree on the powerless point. A Vic type does not miss friends because he has none. He has loyal soldiers whom are hard to replace for him. He is basically a functional sociopath who does not lose sleep over people that were in his way. Dunno about being cowardly, he jumped into deadly situations where there was a buck to be made or power/leverage to be had. At the end the only thing that seemed to reasure him was shoving the gun in his pants. Last bit of power left to him.
Alot of people wanted Vic dead or the Strike team to ride off in the sunset..But, they show ended true to how it was written. Perfect. Vic always took care of #1 first and it got him where he doesnt want to be. Shane is dead, Lem is dead, and Ronnie is goin away for life. The Strike team is gone and it was tragic. Vic walks off with that look and hes still out there...Perfect ending...
How can people say the ending sucked? I mean, yeah I wish Vic would have gotten his bald head blown to bits, but other than that, the ending was great. It was after Shane killed his wife and kid and himself that I wanted so bad to see Vic die in a most gruesome way. Plus, did you catch how sad Corrine and the kids looked as they walked got out of that van and looked at that house? Yet another thing that was Vic's fault. The show ended on a very sad note, but a great ending nonetheless.
The most compelling and scary thing about this series was, for me, the thought that it was more realistic in terms of representing what is out there all around this country in dozens of police departments. Scares me and makes me sad at the same time. Great show tho.
the thing is... it's a great show because its acting is so realistic! and the storylines are so realistic as well, u can not think that doesn't happen... it's awesome! The shield is the number series on my list!
You know how I can tell he is a great actor...just looking at him pisses me off lol! That to me means he made "Shane" his own!!! It really does suck that it has to end. Thanks to all of the Cast and those behind the scenes for past seven years!! ...and yeah, no shit "Shane" you did go out with a bang!! lol
This was an absolute perfect way to end the series. At first I was disappointed with how it ended but after thinking about it, it couldn't be more fitting.
Agreed, initially a little disappointed but on reflection, perfect. Shawn Ryan stayed true to the show, Vic was always too smart to get caught. Ronnie was always Vic's lamb, and finally got lead to the slaughter. Shane was always twisted, and kept his promise to Mara of keeping her out of jail the only way he could at the end. Walton Goggins - brilliant actor, to make me feel so sad for Shane after all the shit he did - Walton i take my hat off to you.
The Shield and The Bachelor should never even be mentioned in the same sentence.

I really see to him a great future in a movie career, he has all the baggage, stunning actor, I honestly liked Shane to the end, an incredible character, shown in all the angles, The Shield is the best show I seen so far, even better than 24

Shane was my favourite character towards the end.

Walton was fantastic as Shane and the look worked, but not that the Shield is over the guy should probably get a hair cut.

@evexxxxx i recalled an incident where Walton Goggins lost his wife to suicide. That must have impacted his career quite a bit.

But a real fan knows when the show must end... the risk is the ruin of the serial.

Goggins if I'm not mistaken, won an Oscar about three years ago for co-producing an independent film documentary. He's not lacking for work, I'm sure.
vatosharpei 3 years ago 2
Indeed he did...I HAD NO IDEA...
AMAZING LOL

Shane Vendrell is the richest and most intricate character that I've ever seen on television and Walton Goggins took the role and ran with it. Thanks for everything Walt, you're fucking badass!!!!
P.S : Eatin ain't cheatin XD

Not even an Emmny nomination? They more than deserved it!
ed4030 3 years ago 5
Screw the Emmys dude. The Emmys, Oscars, Golden Globes and what not are nothing more than a pompous idiotic popularity contesting hosting overrated shows and movies. The Shield had 7 great seasons underneath it's belt and is considered one of the most ground breaking series on the FX network. That in it's self is a true reward.
SupernaturallyBAMed2 3 years ago 4
Clearly!

Wow, this series is so awesome! the finally is quite possibly the one of the greatest a television series has pulled off. Sorpanos should take a page out of the Shields book, ok where do i send the donations to fund a season 8. Love you guys

Have you found out where to send the donations? for this show I'm willing to reach in my pocket.

This guy is one intense actor. The way he portrayed Shane Vendrell, all the way to the end was so realistic. I can't even look at Walton without seeing Shane and seething. That's how talented he is. I also had the honor of meeting him once. Really nice guy.
SupernaturallyBAMed2 3 years ago 2
This was one epic show. I think the cast is extremely talented. Im saddened to see it come to a close.
SupernaturallyBAMed2 3 years ago

Bravo.

Esuper1 3 years ago
I think it was. There are fates worse than death for Vic. All those deaths on his head. Betraying his only loyal friend.
Confined to a desk for 3 years to think about it all.
Just showed how powerless he is.
And a big coward to boot.
jobe129 3 years ago

Vic walks off with that look and hes still out there...Perfect ending...
dcadvantages 3 years ago 4
How can people say the ending sucked? I mean, yeah I wish Vic would have gotten his bald head blown to bits, but other than that, the ending was great. It was after Shane killed his wife and kid and himself that I wanted so bad to see Vic die in a most gruesome way. Plus, did you catch how sad Corrine and the kids looked as they walked got out of that van and looked at that house? Yet another thing that was Vic's fault. The show ended on a very sad note, but a great ending nonetheless.
jmoon219 3 years ago 5
The most compelling and scary thing about this series was, for me, the thought that it was more realistic in terms of representing what is out there all around this country in dozens of police departments. Scares me and makes me sad at the same time. Great show tho.
Esuper1 3 years ago 3
the thing is... it's a great show because its acting is so realistic! and the storylines are so realistic as well, u can not think that doesn't happen... it's awesome! The shield is the number series on my list!
Kanartist 3 years ago 3
You know how I can tell he is a great actor...just looking at him pisses me off lol! That to me means he made "Shane" his own!!! It really does suck that it has to end. Thanks to all of the Cast and those behind the scenes for past seven years!! ...and yeah, no shit "Shane" you did go out with a bang!! lol

Goggins is a GREAT actor. He says the show goes out with a bang......it sure does.

I'm still trying to process the finale. Walton creeps me out just because of the freak he played
countrybumpkin04 3 years ago 2
This was an absolute perfect way to end the series. At first I was disappointed with how it ended but after thinking about it, it couldn't be more fitting.
witsmeister 3 years ago 2
Agreed, initially a little disappointed but on reflection, perfect. Shawn Ryan stayed true to the show, Vic was always too smart to get caught. Ronnie was always Vic's lamb, and finally got lead to the slaughter. Shane was always twisted, and kept his promise to Mara of keeping her out of jail the only way he could at the end. Walton Goggins - brilliant actor, to make me feel so sad for Shane after all the shit he did - Walton i take my hat off to you.
