  • vsnares : "brk gives me wood" :)

  • whats the name of the song at 0:35???

  • that was mike paradinas at .28 wasnt it?

  • lol vsnares. no wonder he likes breakcore so much.

  • Venetian Snares is a fucking twat. Love his laugh.

  • @MusicianPooper

he is a Master in that but as well as an asshole, that is what a friend of mine said about him, who was playing the same night that VS. He meants, VS was like a fucking Rolling Stone ("that sucks, i wanna 35 beer of this mark, and water of that, and this sucks and these also sucks..."... that is what really sucks...

  • YEAH! FUCK YEAH!

  • A breakcore documentary WITHOUT CARDOPUSHER?!?

  • Yeah, that was really dissapointing!!1

  • lol - cardopusher is a very new name in "breakcore" compared to the artists in this video. back in 2006 (when this video was made) - hardly anyone had heard from him...

  • 'nuff said WOOT you are so cool 'nuff said lol fag

  • Impressive retort.

  • NO U

  • We happen to like modem feedback sounds...

    I also said enough.

  • I liked the documentary. Concerning people just did it for the scene without getting paid or refunded in any way it pisses me off to see so much unconstructive criticism which just ends in "oh you forgot my favourite breakcore artist, what a shitty documentary"

  • Breakcore FTW they missed out so many decent producers tho

  • Kiss the spanner and call me Charlie!!

  • No one mentioned Edgey...

  • breakcore is the music of the future, like it or not

  • got to love aaron

  • Everyone else in this documentary is a twat

  • this documentary and it's choice to view the opinions of people such as "Drop The Lime" has caused more harm than good despite it's intentions. 20 minutes of airing arrogance of bored, tour experience pseudo house music wannabes and ageing producers, and it's slight focus on only a handful of the more successful artists was a poor representation of the worldwide DIY artist controlled phenomena of "breakcore".

  • This, of course is very true, but even this sloppy overview took us nearly two years of unpaid work while doing "real jobs". We had zero budget and no possibility to meet more than a handful of artists. I still think it´s a represantative cross-section of popular artists in underground electronic music of 2005 and 2006 and therefor quite informating for anyone that never heard of that term (breakcore) before.

  • that's pretty lame then. 20 minutes of interviews and live footage is pretty poor for two years work. jobs or no jobs. Anyone who had never heard the term "breakcore" would not get interested by it from this doco. I just watched it again and the way it slides into a decline of criticism of the genre by venetian snares who can happily lie back in a comfy chair and reflect on how breakcore is getting boring for him - now that it's made him rich.

  • Your inclusion of Drop The Lime in this documentary is the biggest kick in the face for breakcore. This "bedroom producer" who has only made breakcore from 2003-2006 spouts his belief that breakcore is over because he is over it. check his myspace and discogs entry - he has erased all connection to breakcore. unlike venetian snares he got bored of the genre because it didn't make him a superstar.

  • Okay, then it is lame. But I also talked to some artists (like for example Maladroit) telling me they liked it a lot.

Best would be you do a better one by yourself. When you manage to do it the way it should be done I´ll be the first that really loves it and recommends it to everyone.

  • of course! name dropping Maladroit as an australian breakcore producer I should obviously feel like a fool for criticising it. The only reason you mentioned his name in your retort is because he is one of the handful of aussie artists who's played and released overseas. therefore you know of him. This music has more producers/labels and collectives involved than what makes it to vinyl. this is the point. breakcore is bigger than Belgium and all the big name producers.

  • I already organise breakcore shows and do a radio show for it and have been involved in and made it for 9 years. So thanks, but I do my part. telling me to make one myself is a cop out. if after 2 years of interviews and live footage being filmed you only had enough footage for 20 minutes that's a poor effort. It seems all the footage was filmed at a handful of shows. I'm sure in two years there were tonnes of shows.

  • In the last 2 years there's been more than enough shows to film in Melbourne to make a two hour doco and the scene here is barely 150 producers and punters. I find it hard to believe that there weren't enough opportunities to film more interviews and live footage for a an actual documentary length film.

  • It is 30 minutes long, not 20. We don´t live in Australia and can´t afford flying wherever we want to. We had tons of material but wanted it to be short. We had to select somehow and yes, we took mostly big name producers. I only mentioned Maladroit because he was the last international artist i met (on July 7th in Graz and a few days later in Vienna).

  • I never asked you to film in Australia or fly anywhere I was questioning the small amount of footage in relation to where you filmed. I made the comparison to Melbourne because I'm guessing that Belgium tends to have a bigger scene than we do.

  • Of course BC is much bigger than that. But just like Nicolas Chevreux from AdNoiseam I think 90 percent of BC is crap. I´d rather interview a handful of "ageing" producers and big names than thousands of guys that do some noise on their laptop. I recognized your criticism and confess that it could have been much better in many ways, but I don´t think it can harm "pure" BC any more than pissing off some artists that don´t care about if other people like their sound or not.

  • I can't see a point in making such a short documentary, and despite that it still ended with people who supposedly supported it ctiticising it because they were over it. The resounding opinion from all interviewed (other than drumcorps) seemed to be. it's over.

  • Your comment about "thousands of guys who do noise on their laptop" made me laugh. It seems that the difference between these producers or laptop guys as you put it, is whether or not they have official releases on labels. Maladroit uses trackers and a PC to make his tracks, therefore he is one of the "thousands of guys who make noise on laptop" you mentioned. That attitude towards amateur producers is the cancer slowly eating away at this scene.

  • Breakcore belongs to those who with laptops and PCs. It belongs to those who make it, promote it and hunt it down from all corners of the globe. More than half of it's producers including some that you featured started with PCs and programs. So I find that comment interesting. people like DTL who use it up and move on to something else when it bores them, never had any vested interest in it in the first place and never had any place being in it.

  • Your comment of "I think 90% of breakcore is crap" is even funnier. I don't think anyone who thinks that is likely to show an accurate and honest opinion on breakcore. There is a lot of shit out there sure, but 90% is way off the mark. More than half of what I play on my show and hear online is better than the latest ragga-sampled amen break fiesta that gets pumped out by the big namers every year.

  • Some of those "shitty bedroom producers" as DTL called them will probably go on to labels and make shit better than all of us. To categorise them as "some guys who make noise on laptops is ridiculous. access to money and record labels does not necessarily a good producer make.

  • Those kids who get labelled as "some shitty bedroom producer" reinforces the belief that this music no longer belongs to everyone involved but really just an elite few connections to planet mu and venetian snares. That sort of elitist techno/scene ideal is exactly what breakcore rebelled against in the first place.

  • It may sounded that way but I didn´t mean to contrast the term "some guys who make noise on laptops" to big names, because they do the same. I should rather have written "EVERY guy that makes noise on his laptop". And I won´t defend DTL in any way. What he and other guys said was just their opinion, not ours while making it or that of everyone watching it.

  • It´s just a section of some popular artists in 2005 + 06 from which some were jointly responsible (or complicit?) for big music press + media starting to recognize BC as a genre more than 10 years after it´s beginning. It´s just a few NOTES on BC, not a professional documentary about it. You made your point clear but I can´t do more than admit you´re right in many points. Going on with this, defending myself over and over seems pointless to me.

  • I don´t think a "cancer" eats away the scene. There´s more + more amateur producers everyday + they all don´t give a shit what everyone else believes it is about, this movie won´t harm them. If everyone hates it that much it´ll rather push them forward to prove it´s wrong + BC is not over at all. The only harm to BC comes up when it becomes repetitive + I don´t mean in any way this is the fault of amateur producers (just because u always assume the worst intentions in whatever I say)

  • Because of the diversity of BC there will always be quarrel who is the wannabee and who has the "real sh!t" respectability. There might even exist an artist you like that likes DTL.

  • In the actual documentary, can anyone tell me the name of the track Hecate is playing when she first appears? (the one where she isnt screaming into the mic lol)

  • In the actual documentary, what is the track that's playing while the end credits are shown?

  • The end credits track is "Felbomlasztott Mentokocsi (Bong-Ra Remix)" from "4 Adaptations Of Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett" by Venetian Snares vs. Bong-Ra, released by Planet µ in 2006, [ZIQ111R]

  • is the full-lenght up anywhere already ?

  • Where can I get the DVD?

    Peace

    IGOR

  • In the actual documentary, what is the track that parasite is playing at around 27:09?

  • Is this out yet?

  • aaron funk kicks ass

  • I saw your movie. GREAT stuff, really. Very informative, all the basics, origins and tendencies of the style. Was interesting to see how all the artists look like in reality. I haven't thought Aaron Funk is so arrogant :-)

  • i mean, why shouldn't he be? motherfucker is bad!!

  • we know lots of artists are missing (and even some of the most important) but this was a zero budget production, we just did the best we can...

sooner or later (when we find the time and manage to organize the money) there´ll be a dvd release with bonus material and a fresh homepage including the option to download it for free

  • wheres all the Aussies???? hehe

  • basek is one bad muth!

  • Why isn't shitmat innit? psh

  • I was also wondering it...

  • yep, needed more Shitmat.

Cant wait to see that. are there some live extracts in the full version? Im curious to see clearly how they works, instead of dancing like baboons, or like math teatchers behind their labtop screens, as usual

  • "Everyone else in this documentary is a fucking twaaugght" it's only possible to say Twat in an English accent. otherwise its just plain wrong.

  • americans probably think the same when they here us say 'awesome'

  • was that Mouse on Mars there, those two guys with the accents sitting being interviewed?

  • nope its terror and mayhem

  • ah. thanks, wasn't sure

  • servants of the apocalyptic goatrave (aka bong-ra and sickboy)

by the way does anybody have any dirt on when part two and three of SOTAGR or vinylised?

  • Looks good but how big is V Snares head lol?

  • the guy is very fucking tall so the head is proportionated to the body

  • u never heard the phrase 'big head'?

  • i thought you were talking about his actual head not his ego

  • that looked pretty gay, fucking americans. the only good bit was snares at the end

  • lol, idiron! you cant keep the america hate isolated to watmm!??!

  • BREAAAAAAAAAAKCOOOREEEEE BEAATTSSSS!!! yaaayy hahaha lol

I'll teach you how to make a breakcore song:

1- use a lot of drugs.

2- speed up the song at 190 bpm or more.

    3- distort the drum loop.

4- use acid strings and another synths.

    5- enjoy!
