FQF is all about enjoyment! No PITA trek to the Fairgrounds. Get a little over buzzed? Just retreat to your room and regroup. All the stores and restaurants of the French Quarter right there! Authentic local everything.
If you can do without the big name nationwide groups they book for JazzFest, I highly recommend French Quarter Fest instead.
