He just learned it for that movie. It's not like he was fluent in it. He had to learn to speak it for those scenes.

Yeah all thespoke in Italian in the Godfather..The only Italian he could know was "..I sacciu sti cosi.." shit like that out of dialect of Sicily that he had to learn for the movie . He can't speak Italian , he never could ; the only weak point for the numero uno!!!
