  • fukin sex music ive just cum

  • Feel that warm guitar tone splash over you

  • FUCK there is just and like or dont like button

¿WHERE THE HELL IS THE "I HAD AN ORGASM BUTTON"?

  • Just Guitars and valve amps. Not an effects pedal in sight. The way it should be

I just love the over driven sound on andys solo. I play bass. Gibson and Fender basses with a valve head and only a lead to connect the two

  • jesus kossoff's vibrato is so epic.

i can barley get that with a tremolo

  • @guitarshredda2 Even Mr Clapton asked Paul Kossoff how he got his Tremolo

  • this bass solo its a master piece geeeeeeeez

  • That's not promo clip, it's from Beat Club 51, 31.01.1970.

  • And on what basis do 6 idiots 'dislike'? Quintessential R&B by one of the greatest progenitors! An absolute delight and the bass is just a peach.

  • So weird Seeing Simon Play that Kit instead of the usual Gold Hayman Kit he used mostly in those days With Free

  • rocks most powerful act

  • Tying to work out how Koss is actualy playing the chords. The main riff looks like E7#9 with the D string played at the 2nd fret (I normally leave it open), the E chord in the chorus looks like the same thing, but to me sounds very subtly different. Looks like B7#9 at the 7th (or is it just B7?). Then it looks like E7 at the 7th just before the solo. I've seen other versions where it just looks like he's playing B5 at the2nd, and E5 at the7th in the chorus. Anyone know for sure here? AWESOME!

  • @blueswailer1952 Not sure on the exact chords but ofton Koss would play just a little different each live performance.

  • rivals zepplin and who

  • Love this track poss my favourite Free song

    Totally agree about the editing

The bass playing is shit hot and the way Kossoff switches with Fraser taking the lead with the bass never fails to impress

  • 1970s camera directors got paid for nothing. They should be whipped for missing a moment in history.

  • I love how Kossoff plays in this song he had something that no one else at that time had, a very special man. Its a shame that we had to loose him at such a young age.R.I.P Kossoff you are still loved

  • I really like this version of Kassoff's solo! Isle of Wight was good but this version is just sick!

  • shit hot

  • Great permorace from the rock band Free off their debut album (Fire & Water) !

  • ...prattpot...outstanding.

  • One of the top five live bands ever. Great stuff

  • Epic!!

  • What poor camera editing! During Andy Fraser's bass solo we hardly got a look at him. Instead focusing mainly on Paul Kossoff who we'd already seen plenty of. For what reason? Beats me. It should be plainly obvious to focus on the one doing the solo. All it needs is the ears to recognize who's playing.

  • @sweedlepipe Most likely reason I think is that the director or editor or camera person, has no musical clue as to what instrument the bass is, and think when they hear something it must be the guitar and so focus on the guitar, and cant figure out why it sounds the way it does or why the guitarist is not playing exactly what they are hearing, ie, the bass solo. I have been filmed for rock videos and the camera people will always focus on the plectrum and the strumming not the actual solo

  • @sweedlepipe I think its because back in the 70s bass players weren't as greatly appreciated as we nowadays. No doubt the bass solo in this is great. The guitar solo is one of the best I ever heard though so you can understand why the cameraman was still concentrating on Kossoff.

  • Such a Great Version of Mr Big :D Gotta love Free , tis quite odd seeing Simon Not play his Usal Gold George Hayman Drum set

  • Bloody fantastic !

There is nothing like them today !

  • @You should check out a Scottish band called Kontroband, they are very good :)

  • Koss what a talant...what a loss

  • Blow´s minds and speakers away.....

  • fuck yeah!

  • Such an underrated band.

  • In the entire history of Rock music, a Les Paul never sounded so sweet. Often imitated but never copied 100%

  • Paul Kossoff R.I.P 35 years 2day

  • classic........love the bass in this song :-)

  • Kossoff's vibrato makes mine look like my finger is having a seizure...

  • the LesPaul has that nasty sound like Keiths Tele..

    killer sound R.I.P.

  • Superlative Les Paul from Koss R.I.P. m8. Andy Fraser also shows how to really play bass, and Pauls voice excellent

  • yeah

  • saw kossoff a cupla days before he died at newcastle city hall with Back street crawler. He was on mars at the start but as he played on he was awsome. Not the best guitarist I ever heard but one you want to listen to alot. also saw free as a 14yr old at the mayfair. Wil always love them. free live is constantly on in my car. Rogers should've been an out and out blues singer, the best white vocalist in my opinion.Live on.

  • This is why I love music. I play guitar, and this makes me want to play bass. EPIC.

  • Andy shows the bass world how it's done.

  • The best band in the world, and a tragedy they only had a few years.

  • In my opinion, this is exactly how a Gibson Les Paul should sound. So raw, stripped down and electric...unbelievable tone. I would have loved to see and hear them live.

  • These guys played inside their music......

  • That solo is nothing but pure beauty

  • Fantastic clip thanks dude

  • How could four people possibly dislike this ? Maybe slipped on the keyboard or just bitter twisted souls ?

  • Thanks for posting. Four unique voices in one band. Andy Fraser is a seriously unsung hero of the bass. Any young musician should be exposed to Free, an object lesson in laid back beat placement and use of space..,!

Can somebody remove the freaking spam! Lowers the tone somewhat!

  • Damn, first time I see this one. Really nice, thank u!

  • Awesome clip, keep stuff like this coming man!!

  • Make your order now # lushfmlk.info #

  • English Gipsy rok......

  • went to a concert in 1968 near Glasgow, Scotland. the act due to appear could not make it but they had a new group as a stand in. FREE!

  • I 1st heard this song on a Gov't Mule album.

  • Date a asian lady # lushfmlk.info #

  • Shame the cameraman was blissfully unaware of the bass solo!

  • imagine these boys playing this in front of simon cowell on his socalled talent show he shit himself

  • This is music boys!!! The real deal!

  • kossoff= fucking god with a goatee

  • Fucking brilliant!!! Simple as.

  • great free version of this classic got to be one of best versions on archive , very raw thats one of reason i think they must be one of best blues rock bands

  • 50 Free Youtube Subs Here watch?v=uD5Zi4ZGLhM

  • The best guitar sound of all time!!!!!

a marshall plexi 100, and a gibson les paul!

  • Live music....remember that? this was the "norm" back then...stacks and stacks of GOOD music around from late 60's thru the seventies

  • Kossoff - Genius!

  • 3:40 and more!!!!!!!!!!

  • Koss was one of the most underrated Guitar player.

That´s a great solo but Moonshine was the greatest.

  • I was very fortunate to have seen the original band back in 1970! In the unlikely venue that was the Eldorado Wrestling hall in Leith Edinburgh. They still are the biz a fabulous band in all respects

  • Free at The Lyceum London @1971 , packed out, a real band that worked something out together, but all individuals. This is rock at its very best.

  • What a fantastic comment Kryszczynski unfortunately I wasn't around in 69 but yeah I can certainly picture what you are saying. Nice one man! Hope you get to read this.

  • Free were real troupers. Once, they opened for headliners Bonzo Dog Band and Family & brought the house down. Then management announced that Family’s violinist had mislaid his instrument somewhere & they didn’t fancy playing without it. Bit of a stand-off for a while. Then Free offered to do a second set to fill the gap. That kicked Chappo & Co’s butts right where it was needed! Somehow they found the bottle to get out there after all and perform (not too badly, as it turned out).

  • @zdwaffles - er, if you read my comment you can see that I both love Free and know about music. I also don't know who Justin Bieber is, I imagine I'm too old.

Granted, this is probably the best bass solo I've heard. But that's mainly because the other three musicians are still going over the top of it. Have you ever watched a bass player play a solo on his own? It's pretty much the most tragic thing you could ever hope to see.

  • @christfersmart1 aint no evil in this bass solo, he solos while the song continues with Koss's strong guitar and killer tone, F N brilliant! you cant match this, kirke is a rock solid drummer who didnt solo much but he knew when and how to bring it on. Find another song as well done and blended with a bass solo as this, virtually impossible.

  • Bass solos are evil and should not be encouraged. If you want to play a solo, play an instrument that doesn't make everyone want to go and get a drink at the bar. And yes, drummers, that includes you too.

This clip is great - not sure about the jazzy chord Kossoff is playing but great guitar solo face as usual.

  • bass solo's are amazing...obviously you havnt heard Pulling Teeth by metallica, and whats wrong with drum solo's ? people that talk shit on music and dont know crap about music make me wanna go drink. im tired of all you Justin Bieber fans polluting all the good music on youtube with your filth

  • @christfersmart1 Dont be a idiot. There is more skill in one of Andy frasers fingers than you will ever have. He lead the way for bassist to come into the limelight and add something to there music

  • i grew up listening 2 these tunes thanks dad ur a fukin legend!!!

  • Typical!!!During the song the focus is on Koss.Come the amazing bass solo, guess what? The focus is STILL on Koss and Kirke.WTF.I seriously believe that cameramen are told"Avoid the bass player at all costs,no matter what he does,or how good he is"Koss was good, but so was Andy, and I dont want to watch him strumming a chord while Andy is being a genius.Rant over.Good video tho' and a brilliant band.

  • Great performance. Koss' tone and vibrato are mesmerizing

  • Krzyszczynski well said! I saw them in very similar sounding club in Bishop's Stortford which I think was called the Blues Loft. Actualy an old hay loft at the back of a pub. I used to come away from there soaked in sweat and overflowing with enthusiasm for the guitar which I was then learning to play. I still play guitar but I'd swap that "talent" for a voice like Paul Rodgers any day.

  • wow! thats my fix for the day then

  • As much as i know kosoff is the king of lead guitar this song is more known for the bass solo its fantastic

  • Kossoff controlling his sound with his guitar volume knob, rolling off to clean it up, cranking up for leads.

That's how the masters did it kids.

  • @pobbrock Dude, it's not rocket science. Those are the basics. Understand your guitar and your amp and your rocking, man...........

  • fuckin ell !!!

  • For the age of these guys when they started (very young), they have one of the richest Brit Blues sounds I've ever heard that still holds well today- love them to bits!

  • paul kossoff guitar legend

  • Paul kossoff R.I.P

  • In my humble opinion, one of Free`s best songs!

  • the great sound of ludwig drums.love em!

  • Free were the best. Never tire of listening to their music. Just wish I had seen them live.

  • PR looking slim in bolero high waisted

strides, I had a pair just like em.

Tune blows my mind every time

  • Saw Free three times in Brighton during '69, last one at Jimmy's in Steine Street. Picture a narrow upstairs room, near-dark, crowded to bursting (no H&S to interfere then), standing room only. No stage, just a roped-off area against one wall; Simon Kirke's rack tom-tom about three feet from your nose, his flying sweat mingling with yours; Koss bounding around grimacing like the devil; Andy swaying ever more violently; Paul's superlative vocals ... best live show I ever saw, bar none.

  • @Krzyszczynski You lucky SOB. Free has been my favorite band my whole life! I'm only 18 so the closest I got was seeing bad company twice. I would kill to see Koss in action being a guitar player myself.

  • @yellowbluebus33 If you live in the uk have a look at the many tribute.. Free at last are the only one ive seen. Worth going to see a band and get down the front and enjoy.

  • @Krzyszczynski That must've been incredible

  • les paul and a marshall...... praise the lord..!

  • I am a rocker through and through. All the way to some of todays stuff.... but, lock me in a room with 70's rock, froget about me, and I will be just fine....

  • Great - Thank you

  • musikladen?

  • Andy Fraser!

  • Yeppur TOTALLY OVERLOOKED. and criminally so

  • Cool. My favorite band of all time. I check back every so often to listen again and this is a new vid for me! TYSM for posting this prattpot.

  • That bass is amazing!!

  • Skynerd even said FREE were their biggest influence... Kossoff you genius....

  • why isnt anybody mentioning how good the bass is though...

  • i was a big bad co fan, sadly never got to see free play live, what i would have given to see Paul Kossoff play live!!!

  • @MrBaros33 i saw them when they recorded free live at sunderland. they where amazing, best live band i ever saw.

  • lol

    Both of them are god

  • paul kossoff is a fucking great guitarist

  • Classic big sounding rhythm section, epic blues-rock soloing and one of the finest sets of pipes in the business in Rodgers-it doesn't get much better than this folks.

  • CLAPTON IS GOD!!

Kossoff is an IMMORTAL!!! but not GOD

  • Clapton Is Not GOD!!!

    Kossoff Is GOD!!!

  • STUNNING!

  • Fantastic clip. Memorable guitar interplay.

  • discreto rock senza nè arte nè parte, pensavo qualcosa di meglio

  • man, imagine having been that dopey camera captain and the shites missing 80% of A.F's bass solo!!!????! you have to wonder who was the director of that huge effing gaff!!!??? what a great band!? what great understated, emotionally charged, TOTALLY ASS KICKING TALENT. the best band EVER, long live FREE!! even the name of the outfit is perfect. the people they influenced is a who's who, and FREE got less than the accolades the should have, considering they were the best band EVER!!!

  • fraiser kirke kossof rodgers genius!

  • Fuck Taylor Swift. She always looks like she's constipated and has to take a big shit.

  • Free was better than any other band at delivering the studio sound live.

  • What you mean? Like trying to sound like their studio version live or they actually sound so good like as if it were a studio version?

  • Both

  • I kinda prefer improvisation... Improv is awesome, and gives you the ability of freedom of playing while live! And make the live version more unique than during in the studio...

  • My fav song from Free. Awesome band, shame that Paul Rodgers lost the edge off his voice.

  • cool band

  • Kossoff's guitar sound is perfect here !

  • as there ever been any band better than free,

  • This is music! Paul Kossoff died way to soon. Free was so amazing!

  • is the camera on acid?

  • Great clip! Lets not forget Andy Fraser's bass playing.

First time I heard his solo on Mr Big on the Free Live album I was mezmorized!!! Quality!

  • kossoff is THE MASTER

  • simon kirke rules drums, so understated and groovesome-most bands just don't get its all in the rhythm section, just float everything else on top, impala327, your comment was so apt' i feel the same about free, just the best. this vid post is awesome, never seen it before x

  • I really enjoy the drum playing, it's just too awesome, and the guitar solo part is making me burn...

  • I've listened to Free for 25 years and what I've learned or what I suppose part of the attraction is that, rhythmically, they put the emphasis in places most bands don't and that they do it consistently. Its almost a funky two-beat feel at times. Combine this with the stripped down arrangements. Magic. They reached a point of aesthetic perfection for about three years. They almost create their own sonic world.

  • this is from the german tv show beat club

  • Thanks so much for putting this film on youtube. Never knew it existed.

Just had a fun packed half hour washing the bloody pots listening to second Street, by Crawler wondering what could have been.

  • Great riff! Amazing song! Very underrated band

  • saw free 1970 Liverpool stadium.still one of the best groups I've ever seen.

  • Oh I think catch a train and this song illustrates Frasers playing, however Goin down slow and walk in my shadow illustrates kossoff! I went and saw rodgers and queen in 2008 at the O2 in london they were groovy man!! However they only did 3 bad co songs and 1 free number which was all right now (obv)

I play bass and i know every song by these guys, it's hard when you keep having to learn like 80% of them by ear, becuase there's like no fraser books or hardly any tabs!!

  • Thier brilliance can be measured by what they went on to achieve as individuals. Fraser with Sharks - highly under-rated band played for enjoyment rather than commercial success, Rogers and Kirke, Bad Co -say no more and who could even step onto the stage after Mercury nevermind carry the Queen repotoire. This Track and the Stealer I think illustrates all of the band members skill and soul.

  • Mate guitar playing isn't judged by skill, but by the heart and soul put into the music.

  • then why do u listen to bucket head?

  • Because he plays with soul and emotion...why don't you try listening to him instead of making stupid comments.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..

    Do you smoke crack?

Buckethead doesn't play with soul and emotion, all he does is 'shred'. and theres nothing 'emotional' about that whatsoever...

  • Like i said you dumb fuck, listen to his music before making stupid comments.

  • dumb arsehole you wasted space ewhore they are one of the best bands i have ever seen.they blew deep purple off stage on there last live gig, truly insperational, despite major gear faliure in sydney 71.r.i.p koss.

  • Well said...assuming you're talking about Paul Kossoff...there's something about his guitar playing which was simple straight forward yet incredibly powerful that never fails to get me off. Sad that he died at such a young age..RIP
