@cat7471 actually this is a lion and as for the spots It is a vestigial trait of evolution. Their ancestors had spots as adults, much like the present day leopard. However, the lion evolved to not need their spots. However, the genetic code that gives them spots is still there, it is not overridden until adulthood.
