The guy called to get help for his grandma the 911 disbatcher should have given the cops all the details of the call while on route. The call was out of concern and imo there was no danger until the cops showed up , well now that she is sueing them she has something to keep her busy for a while, bet that cheered her up in the end. As a former police officer I can tell you that sometimes we just tasered folk for the hell of it. It's a lot of laughs and no one really gets hurt. Oh, I just read the description. I would also like to point out that the description does not match the video completely. Video says he thought she could have been suicidal. Description says he didn't know if she had been taking her medication and does not mention anything about "suicidal" or "her life is over" or anything.

As a former police officer I can tell you that sometimes we just tasered folk for the hell of it. It's a lot of laughs and no one really gets hurt. I'm sure this old crazy broad was probably mouthing off to the officers as well and deserved a little attitude adjustment. had I been one of the officers I'd have lit up the son as well for yelling "Don't tase my granny!" I may have maced him as well. Who the hell uses the term granny anymore?

Oh, I just read the description. I would also like to point out that the description does not match the video completely. Video says he thought she could have been suicidal. Description says he didn't know if she had been taking her medication and does not mention anything about "suicidal" or "her life is over" or anything.
I would also like to point out that if you call for an ambulance and it sounds like somebody is suicidal, they send cops too.

Not saying tasing her was right, but cmon. If she's crazy enough to pull a knife on a cop (if it's even true - I'll admit, there are corrupt cops who will lie) maybe she can handle a quick tase. Maybe it would have made her drop the knife (if she had one).
A side note: if she no longer wanted to live (she took pills - maybe to overdose - who wants to live to be that old and in pain, etc?) and if she had a knife, maybe she thought the cops would shoot her and end her misery? Just a thought..

I think it was a cop that felt like he or she had to respond personally to my posting here. Says the grandson let the cop in the door. I would say most people have relatives but do not expect them to have the right to let someone into there house unanounced or uninvited. What the cops need to do is back off unless they can do good instead of harm. This reminds me of waco were the cops ended up burning alive children and to this day feel justified. She pulled a knive on them because they broke into her house and she thought there were going to assult her. And she was right , the tazer was a assult and a torture. What they should have done is turned around and left her house that she never invited them into. They were home invaders. She was in her rights to have killed them both. If they had wrestled the knife from her and she happened to get cut they would be sued and disciplined as their rules of engagement tells them to use a taser, plus an 86 woman can still drive a knife into a man. For anyone who thinks that this is acceptable, just ask yourself if it were OK if they shot her or beat her with a baton. Police are supposed to be able to talk to people and difuse situations without the use of violence. Ever since we gave them these less (not NON) lethal weapons, it's "do as I say or be tazed! RESPECT MY AUTHORITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". This mindset needs to change. I am tired of hearing about old people or handicapped people etc being tazed.
