  • Oh fantastic machine. I wonder if I could ever find one that works that I could purchase?

  • @Chassid48 Hi I have one of these machines for sale not 100 years old however it is circa 50+ years old still in its original box with the original Instruction service manual and instructions. It is the Ricut MIRACLE portable Hand Knitter. If you are interested please contact me at raisethewind@yahoo.co.uk

  • I renewed my interest in knitting after reading loomknittingnow (.) com

  • Love it that the machine has lasted this long! Quality quality quality. Love the machine. You are blessed to have it!

  • If I had one of these, I would make hundreds of pairs of thigh-highs. And it would make my day.

  • They are really cool machines, and for the comments saying you can't make really cool pattern's like lace and textures, you can, its a little slower, but by using that pick thing she was using to point with you can transfer the stitches and make different patterns like lace, herringbone, tuck, and also with the ribber you can set the needles up on half after you do the ribbing and do 1x1 rib down to the toe.

    They are truly cool machines!

  • These are still sold by a company called "N.Z.A.K" for about $1800.00

  • Fantastic! Informative and interesting. Thank you.

  • That is really cool! Still...I think I prefer hand-knitting. I like incorporating lace into my knitting too much :P Still, I've always wondered how they made store-bought socks like that...

  • really really cool!

  • That was pretty damn awesome!Only bad thing is you can't do those nice textured patterns like you see all over ravelry and knitty.

I just had the proudest moment when the guy had to have ribbing explained to him as well as knitting and purling and my bf goes "NOOB".lmao.

  • Its the first time I have seen one of these, really interesting.

  • That is damned nifty.

  • Hi:

If you've ever seen or heard of Bond Knitting machines that are still sold, those use the same sort of hooks with the latches in a flat layout. I love low tech machines that are human powered.

  • For some reason I expected to see this video up much sooner - great job Shelley! :)

  • This is cool. who woulda thought~

  • If you think its boring then watch something else.

  • i'd love one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That was awesome. How much do these things go for? When is Make going to make one out of PVC use grocery bags and gum wrappers??

  • haha

  • was going to ask the same question =D

  • Great job of explaining how the sock knitter works! I know how hard it can be explaining knitting to people who don't knit. Atta girl, Shelley!

  • underØth

  • that was really interesting. Wont be long before people go back to doing this again. The idea of importing all of these products and having people sit at home and doing nothing is contrary to logic.

  • Why watch a video with a title "Antique Sock Knitting Machines" and then bag-the-crap out of the video, the filming, the person showing the knitting, the topic... if you're not interested in this topic (but are too dumb to leave the page or stop watching), please don't think that others are interested in your childish comments? Get a life.

  • woooo!!!!!go southlake!!!!1

  • This thing is damn awesome.

  • cool and boring at the same time. A+ for expertise

  • 6:38 ichi belly!

  • lol that made me laugh

  • Pretty cool technology for back in the day :)

I bet this machine fed a lot of people during the depression.

Just find some yarn and you can be selling socks by noon! XD

    Bread for everyone! woot

  • If I had a job like that, I'd knit my head into a table.

  • think of the guy who made this... what a nerd lol

  • If only expertvillage could make videos like this

  • i wonder if they do pink socks

  • Ohgosh, so cool. I will never look at my socks the same way again. (Seriously!) Neat old machine - isn't it great when things are built to last?

  • I want one! I wonder if you could make one yourself.

  • very awesome that the technology has lasted that many years. how do you find one of these machines?
