Karen was a sad lady in need of lots of love and support. She was always hiding behind a big deceptive smile, yet inside she was dying. I know, because I also struggled with eating diorders. I wish she could see how many people trully loved her, and still do today. Rest in peace Karen. You are an angel.
No one should have to kick the bucket this way. Not only do you lose massive amounts of weight, but it ages you in the face. You walk around looking like a corpse. And at 2:34, Karen looks like a woman MUCH older than 32. At least the beautiful legacy of The Carpenters music remains, but it seems the world still hasn't learned from her untimely death. Young girls are still starving themselves to fit an unrealistic mold.
did'nt someone tell her she was to fat and could do wive loseing some weight in the early 70's when their singing started so she lost weight i heard that maybe thats wear it started from she had a good voice
Good agency of models today have their nutritionist to the girls not becomes too o9bssesed with their bodies... still the models are fit, they have a balanced nutrition to evict deaths like of Karen
Jennifer O'Neil, Cheryl Tiegs and Janice Dickinson to name a few became the new photographed landscape of beauty and fashion. These examples may have or have not influenced Karen in her strive to re-shape body configuration. But one this was certain, whether it was an influence or not, this was to become the standard look of the future of how beauty was measured in the media. The "pear-shaped" syndrome or the shoulder to hips ratio led to anorexia-nervosa, which led ultimately to her tragic end.
Poor Karen! She had it all, extreme talent with one of the most recognizable and enduring female pop voices in contemporary music, fame and fortune and anewly perceived and re-defined , unfortunately, Karen Carpenter was not satisfied witttractiveness. However, with the advent of a new era where female beauty wash her bodily self-image.Such icons of the new hybrid look of the "supermodel" were starting to brew in the mid-sixties through the seventies with "Twiggy"(lesley Hornby), Jean Shrimpton

The music chosen in the second half is really refreshing stuff; raw and honest. What a tragedy Karen Carpenter's life was though. She had such a unique voice. I believe she was unloved.
that was very warming, and i can't even think of the words for it, it was beautifull, thank you for touching my heart with it once more, its so sad, i feel like the world stopped when she died, she was perfect,
Sad. Never idolise some one for something like anorexia. Many feel as though they will be happiest when thin. Not so. When you get there you're not accomplished or free. You remain a prisoner until you die or you make a choice to live. Life is total choice. Chose to live. I did. Be a strong person within the depths of your soul in all ways. Never let a disease or distorted view of yourself bring YOU suffering in life. Fuck that! Live a life to bloom in all ways. Just try. x x. RIP Karen.
Hoy hace 27 años que no estás con nosotros. He pasado parte de la tarde viendo videos tuyos, deseándote que estés donde estés, hagas tan feliz a los que te rodean como nos has hecho a los mortales.
the picture at 2.34 must have been at the end of her illness, she looks genuinly ill there and extremely thin facially.Dont mean that in a desrespectful way. mean it in a sad way.that pic just shows how bad it was at that point. :(
I like the guitar solo. It sounds like the ones on the Isley Bros' Who's that Lady, and A Taste of Honey's Boogie Oogie. Good music back in those days when I grew up.
She was too young to go. She was an angel on Earth, with her voice and she seemed to be so nice. I love the Carpenters but when I hear their love songs, I get so depressed. Karen, may you rest in peace. We love you.
