É muito difícil avaliar qualquer interpretação de Casta Diva depois da Callas. Callas foi Norma, como foi Cio Cio San quando interpretava Butterfly, como foi Mimi, como foi Floria Tosca... Callas incorporava seus papéis de uma maneira quase sobrenatural e isso fazia a diferença, além , é claro da sua voz. Mas a vida não para e essa Frittoli é prova disso. Subscrevo inteiramente essa afirmativa: " Yes, friends, there is life after Callas" assinada pelo rumpwrestler.
Voce che balla e alla fine è assurdo che un soprano lirico canti Casta diva quando non ha nessuna possibilità di eseguire il ruolo,un tempo la Freni e la stessa Tebaldi che aveva una voce importante da Gioconda non osavano tanto,oggi Dessì,Cedolins,Frittoli...tutte noiose,ma loro anche per un giorno si vogliono illudere ci essere la Callas...sono solo ridicole.

Realmente una buena versión,libre de gritos y alardes como debe ser una oración de paz. Hay sopranos que creeen estar llamando a Tarzán cuando cantan Casta Diva. Creo que debería transformarse, Casta Diva, en un himno univeral para la paz.

Makes me so sad. She is beautiful and a sensitive artist. She has a terrible wobble at such a young age. Consequently, she has terrible intonation problems in this video. Really, people. To tell the truth is not to be mean or unkind. I really hope she fixes this terrible vocal problem. I will cheer *with* her when she triumphs. For now, this vid is terribly sad.

@dt195k2 - well she has a tendency to a slow vibrato, which can sound "old" to some people. i'm glad to hear this. i would like to hear her do it in G instead of F - in F the aria always sounds a little dull to me, though it is often done in F. pretty good figure for an opera singer don't you think, which the dress shows.
This is sung beautifully, the turns could be cleaner, but the rest is sung very musically.. I knew it was going to be good when i heard her crescendo slightly on the first Casta... So many sopranos when they hold notes do nothing with them,.. and they simply are not intersting to hear them hold the note at the same volume forever.

I love her for appreciating the text phrasing according to how Bellini wrote it! This was purely BEAUTIFUL! I haven't heard much from her actually only a recording of Verdi's Falstaff with Terfel but she has got a voice on her! To me the best since...ever, and I love Callas and Sills. Frittoli has a beautiful voice no matter how wide her vibrato. At least it wasn't sung narrow and shrill like Sutherland!

Why all of a sudden has it become the custom for sopranos feeling the need to sing this aria, to attempt it, regardless of how utterly wrong the voice is? In today's world of colorless, bland, generic voices, she's slightly refreshing, but not here.
i agree. beautiful voice and musical phrasing, but there is way too much vibrato for a voice that is rather lyric and slender, and here you can hear it in almost all the long notes.

Top notes sound wonderful, those re-articulated top notes (are they b-flats?) are so secure! The middle and lower registers are a bit chuggy as far as vibrato goes, but lovely overall.
I like the direction. The overall effect is really good I think. The ribattuti are a bit wobbly and the coloratura taxes her. Diction is admirable and the timbre very pleasant. It would be really interesting to hear her in the entire role!
This is wonderful! Frittoli is one of the best exponents of Italian opera in the modern era. I heard her Maria Stuarda in Edinburgh in 2002 and can't understand why she hasn't taken more of the bel canto repertoire on board - it really suits her voice.
It's easy for me to sing and is probably so because I am a male lol. But the difficult part is the descent from that high half note (I think that it's a D).
