    cinnamon doll nutty

  • songs go better with joe!!!!

  • Regardless

  • Oh, I just love this song! Is this the only recording with Joe singing it? I actually think this one's better than the original with Neil. A big "thank you" for sharing this!

  • Irregardless of one mans addictions, or what the so called elites would describe simple common folk, J.W. has given quite a lot to the industry, performing for a wide variety of listeners. Let's be thankful he is still around to enjoy. Im also thankful for still being around to listen. Still trying to kick the monkey off my back, with that said, keep your hope, never give up, live for today only. Aloha people...

  • man they shoulda worked that shit for like 8 minutes

  • one time on who's line is it, joe walsh said that it was hard to meditate while on meth...... so true. jw rocks

  • joe"how ya doing"walsh rocking it!!!!

  • Great rendition of Neil's classic. Totally unfathomable how Joe can perform while totally hammered. Amazing. Yeah, heard him on Howard Stern, the first time he'd been back on show in 11 yrs. I think. He's been clean for quite a long time, some of the stories they told. (LOL) He's one of a kind. Love 'em.

  • @kneapoe51 What makes you think he's hammered?

  • A great acoustical copy of a great song. A great tribute from Joe to Neil.

  • So imperfect, that it becomes perfect!

  • Not too dizzy being fabulous, right?

  • enjoyed that. elegantly wasted. just the right side of sloppy. one more drink for joe and it might have been a mess

  • what year was this gig played in??? and where????

  • @pkappel006

Taped at the National Video Center, NYC, December 14, 1989 for the 5th episode of Unplugged.

  • Please upload "Repetition, Repetition, Repetition" by Jules Shea :)

  • That Dr. Mac Rebenack John on the piano??

  • 7 people are in the woodshed

  • @deweypug lol so true..what an awesome rendition

  • I would never say that Joe Walsh is not an incredible guitarist ... but his ability to play is kind of irrelevant on this tune, since the music is so basic. How can anyone ignore the off-key singing? The harmonies are brutal; it's like a symphony of cats being strangled. Neil's original is still the best, this doesn't even suffice as a tribute.

  • @wedel219 There is little something that Joe exhibits called soul... his voice is an acquired taste - not out of tune, rather on the mark...

  • MY DAUGHTER'S NAME IS CYNIMON MICHELLE

  • That looks like Dr. John on piano.

  • Thumbs up if Joe is thee most underrated guitarist of all time!

  • @parrakm Only ones I can think of that may be more underrated are Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter.

  • Thanx!

  • Awesome, thanks for posting this!

  • just last year I saw neil and when they carted out the pianos ,my friend said neil must be o pening with aballad.but no dr jhon came out and inspired me to learn the piano.weeeeeeeee music rocks

  • My boy Doctor John gracefully tickling the ivories,,,

  • anybody notice Doctor John playing keys?

  • never seen Joe doing a neil young tune....sweet!

  • This puts a whole new meaning to the word "harmony."

    Dance dance

  • What a shitty version it's enough to drive a horse crazy

  • For those who think Joe Walsh is "out of it", you must have never spent time around him. (unless he's buzzed 24/7) Joe makes very unnatural facial expressions all the time. When he looks "out of it", he's often just being Joe.

  • the best version... leave it to Joe Walsh to just come up and make a masterpiece out of a masterpiece...

  • @deweypug ...You said it best!!...Joe can make a masterpiece out of a masterpiece!

  • !!!! With Dr. John on keys no less!

  • What a great fit.Joe sound's perfect for this song.

  • Dr. John rides again, I don't know how he ever did so many appearances with people he has played with everyone so many videos with him in them is there 3 of this guy? Some voodoo thang goin on me thinks

  • Jules Shear should not even constitute a punctuation mark in this whole thing.

  • top covers are this song are by these bands

    Type O Negative

    Smashing Pumpkins

    Period

  • This must have been before he got sober. He looks so much better now.

  • nice nice version - I love Joe W's slow deliberate take on songs, he doesn't shred for anybody, he takes his time, and his music is all the sweeter for it

  • A GOOD SONG IS A GOOD SONG.

    no matter who sings it.

its nice to hear Joe Walsh give praise to it.

  • Neil Young did write this, not Stephen Stills. He originally recorded it with his band, Crazy Horse, and it appeared first on his album "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere." The song gained popularity when he sang it while he was with CSNY, but Stills absolutely did NOT write it.

  • Neil Young wrote this wrong while he was suffering from the flu. Not Stephen Stills. Look it up.

  • stephen stills wrote it.

  • Looks like Dr. John is having a blast

  • joe walsh i could listen to him play anything....have all his solo albums!!!!

  • I was actually a publicist for Joe when he played with a symphony orchestra in Wheeling, WV. He was fantastic. Even did a classical number.

  • I Am A huge Eagles fan&Joe Walsh Solo.

When I was working for the Hollywood Guitar Center Joe would come In And buy All the Mesa-Boogie Pre-Amp tubes I had In stock.I soon learned to stay On top Of the Eagles tour Schedule because I knew the day After the tour Ended Joe would be In.Joe loved how I Always took care Of him.Lets just say that If there's An Eagles/Joe Walsh show nearby I get the VIP treatment!

  • he is the man the best

  • I loved it when Joe would stop in on the Steve Dahl and Garry Meier radio show in chicago

  • I met Joe Walsh years ago. He is so talented. Now clean and sober for over a decade, too.

  • Got any gum?

  • Man, that Joe Walsh! Is there anything he can't do? This cover is just great, and Dr. John has always been awesome. I would also like to know who else is on this.

  • Joe Walsh doing "Rosewood Bitters" on Howard Stern radio show from around 1988. Greatest I ever heard.

  • @taciturntim I'd forgotten that song, one that I loved as a kid. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • Love Joe. Nice cover or Neil's song.

  • Bravo! thats a trio ....uh Dr. John...who is Dr. Hook ? seems like john travelled with Charlie Daniels? i dunno. we would bring pot to smoke to the shows.....seen joe twice with barnstorm just out...uh ...like wow ;;;they turned the stage like at the half court way in roanoke...and joe was like in a deep trance or awakened state or bliss or nirvana of some type. jules is awesome too i dont think he was there though

  • ummm...that's Dr. John on piano...put the bong down for a minute?....

  • neil young wrote this song, no?

  • yeah he did its just a cover

  • I never even heard an acoustic version of this song until this.Impressive.

  • I saw this when it originally aired and have been telling folks about it ever since. Great performance, good show and a great post!!! Really appreciated. Thank you so very much!!!

  • I thought I saw Dr.john?

  • I'm thinking you are right! Dr. John for sure!

  • that's defiantely Dr. John on Piano...any idea who the others are?

  • Rick Rosas on Bass/Vocals. Dr. John on keyboards AND a last minute add to the set. What a great guy.

  • Awesome

  • i remember this now, family jules had to thumb along with everyone who performed.sit down waldo.

  • Wow, I just found this on youtube.

Excellent. If you're going to cover someone, might as well be Neil.

  • Joe Walsh covering the greatest, Neil Young. Amazing.

  • lol Actually Joe is a better guitarist.

  • Joe and Neil are good buddies, and Rick"the bass plater" Rosas who plays with Joe when Joe does his solo tours, is also a member of Crazy Horse, Neil's band. Joe and Neil have jammed and known eachother longer than Joe knew the eagles. Just thought I'd give you a little bit of the clue you have none of. lol

    "How Ya Doin'?" lol

  • Actually that isnt true. Billy Talbot is the bass player in Crazy Horse. Rick does play with Neil, but he is not a member of the horse. Talbot, Ralph Molina on drums, and Poncho on Electric, who replaced Danny Whitten. Neil wrote Needle and the Damage done after the passing of Danny and Roadie Bruce Berry (see Tonights the Night)

  • Thanks. I've always liked Neil's music but really followed his carreer. I new Rick played bass for Neil alot, and the few times I saw Neil Rick was on bass. I just assumed Rick was a member of that group. Thanks for the info, have a great night.

  • I meant to say...I Never really followed Neil's carreer. lol

    Take care

  • Uh...no he isn't. Billy Talbot is Crazy Horse's bass player...in fact while Rick Rosas is a better bass player in general...he tends to suck on the Crazy horse stuff. He has been touring with Neil since 2007 and toured with him in the late 80s and probably other times, but he is definitely NOT Crazy Horse's bass player.

  • are you fucking kidding me?? That sounded unbelievable....that was the best thing I've found on the web in some time.......great great harmony....great feeling...

  • joe kinda seems outta it during this

  • Dude, it's Joe Walsh. Of course he's out of it. I think that's why I like him so much. He can be that out of it and still play better than most.

  • @suterb i understand his hair is very short and in my words, he has "cleaned up" night and day so to speak from this video in 1989

  • @suterb Not sure I understand why everyone says he's wasted? He's just Joe being Joe.

  • Neil Young = Legend. Almost everyone has covered him at some point...

  • uhhhh. dr. john did pretty much nothing. i donno these guys are great but this video is kinda weak.

  • Very cool!

  • walsh is cool, he lives by me in temecula. his wife is lawyer in downtown san diego

  • I agree, Joe Walsh is cool, but you're a bit behind in your info. Joe's been divorced from that wife for almost 2 years, and is now remarried and living in L.A. He is now brother in law to Ringo Starr, his good buddy.

  • too bad, yeah it was like 4 or 5 years ago he had his wedding up at her estate. didnt know they got divorced. poor joe

  • whos the other guitarist besides Joe Walsh " the mad bomber"

  • You see us together chasing the moonlight.

Poppin Fresh and his Cinnamon Girl.

    :)

  • Excruciating!

  • Joe,you did Neil proud!

  • Wow, Joe! Great song. He had short hair back then too. (wink)

  • NEIL YOUNG FOR LIFE.

  • IS THAT DR. JOHN ON KEYBOARDS?

  • yes

  • What year is this from?

  • get your rocking heads on and check out john entwhistle the legendary bass player from the who,s version. as usual from mr entwhistle it,s a bit dark. god bless john your sadly missed !

  • joe walsh rocks he does great covers if not already a fan check the covers on his solo albums.

  • sorry for my ignorance, who is this song? neil youngs?

  • Yep. A Neil Young tune.

  • @dago00 yes it is Neil Youngs

  • neil should be proud

  • The only other version I heard of this was by Type O Negative - Joe's done it proud.

  • This is NUCKIN FUTS!!! Awesome!

  • i'm creeeeeeeemin!

  • Simply WOW.

  • Yeah the Polar Bear Man and Mr. Gang sound pretty good together. I've always liked both of them, but they pale in comparison to the original. I think the only great cover of this song was by Matt Sweet and Susanna Hoffs (Susanna>Michael Steele>Pal Shazar>Jules Shear...hmmmm).

  • whoa! awesome post! thank yooou!

  • joe rules

  • Two geniuses, honoring a third. Remember Jules and the Polar Bears? Joe Walsh singlehandedly removed the pretense from rock and roll.

  • I love you Mr Schlock!I became indebted to Jules for starting this series, and now I'm thanking you for bringing back little tastes of it. If only someone would put it on DVD I'd buy it! I am, now, your fan, too.

  • Jules Shear was the person who started MTV UNPLUGGED. He had some great guest on and truly played unplugged versions. I remember a great show with Dave Sharp from The Alarm doing This Train is Bound for Glory

  • Good stuff my friend thanks 4 sharing.

  • NICE!! Where did yoi find this onw?

  • I taped it on my VHS in 1990, the tape is deteriorating that is why it is so dark.

  • @MrSchlock it adds kind of a creepy effect i think it sounds cool
