@innerchaos08 oh, yea i heard that album too, and i really thought the drummer was good. could be a good option. I was thinking about Gavin Harrison, that guy is awesome too. Another name that came to my mind allthough hes done different stuf in hes career is Simon Phillips, former Toto drummer. hes great too, and really think he can adapt to DT style ( i know hes older, but he could do a great job)....

Simon Phillips might be good, he played wit Judas Priest (havnt heard it though), so i think he could get a little mad, despite hes age. The problem is that no matter who steps in no one will make us fans forget Portnoy, hes got no replacement. The good thing is that this could be just a subtitution for a while, till he feels like coming back....

I hope DT without Portnoy can make an album like Images And Words or like SFAM, more progressive. Anyway, i only hope DT can make a good album, with or without Portnoy

@innerchaos08 when i first heard of Portnoy leaving DT and that they would still record an album, the first thought that came to my mind was Images & Words. I too would like them to go back to that style, I&W is my favorite DT album. The bad thing is that Portnoy was allways the big mind behind DT, along Petrucci and maybe Rudess. Hopefully this could give LaBrie and Myung more space to create stuff too....
