  • i might have a torn mensucus so i miss squatting. I way 112 pounds (i know) And im 14 but i love squatting my max is 125. But idk what to tell my coach (freshman football). I have to see sports medicine but idk. I want my thighs to be nice and big. They have muscle you can see when i pull up my shorts but i dont have to flex ether.

  • @Hadselll No idea. High-rep is completely different than 1RM. They're different training qualities. And I don't like percentage-based training, anyhow. :)

  • @GalaxyyGaming Without video we can only assume it's not ATG if you can do any squatting with it at all. Besides, 530 and 617 (after an attempted 20 rep set) are not even close.

  • Should you be holding your breath so long? Does it help you keep your muscles tight? Or are you allowed to breath in and out during reps.

  • @openaccessuser Holding the breath is necessary for core stability during heavy lifting. It's called the Valsalva maneuver. I breathe in between reps.

  • @Blenderate cool i thought i was breathing wrong when i do core lifts like squat, bench, and deadlift. i always inhaled during the lift and couldnt exhale until i entered the "rest" position

  • question : would you say realtivly that your 1RM is low compared to high repping in squats? i seen some olympic lifter doing 500x10 and 800x1 (RAW) i bet you could deffointly own 500x15 but i guess 800x1 wouldnt be possible?

  • @teddyterrorist Squeeze your shoulder blades together to bunch up your trapezius muscles. If you still have problems, acquire more trapezius muscle. :)

  • hi man gr8 workout. i have a q for you: i can't do squats cause it hurts my right kee that i have injured couple yrs ago. i use only like 30 lbs db-s so that couldnt be the problem. im just a beginner at this type of workout and i was wondering what do you think i should do? thanks in advance.

  • @revengered1 I can't give you any specific recommendations without knowing much, much more about you.  It depends on the nature of your knee injury, your goals, your body type, your diet, and many other factors. All I can say is to work around your injuries in whatever way you need to in order to still have productive workouts.

It seems to be a mix of both olympic squat with regards to bar placement and depth, and powerlifting with regards to how far your knees travel forward of your foot (which is to say not far) How did you come to use this combination?

  • I've always read that you have to pick a weight that you hit failure at 10 with and then do 20. I think that i've been doing these tooooo hard because after i finish everything goes black for a few seconds and i cant stand up because my legs are wet noodles. Am i supposed to be going easier on these? Any Advice?

  • I already responded to your comment in my other video. You are not supposed to go easier on them. I've also had my share of "wet noodle" experiences, but I've been doing these long enough that my conditioning level doesn't limit me any more.

    I find it amazing how fast rep 17 went, and yet the 18th didn't go. The best high rep set I've ever done was 185x41, and I won't be trying it again anytime soon.

  • As the video states at the beginning, I weighed 258 that day. High reps help me to build muscle and they get me strong. It's only one training phase. I don't do them all year long.

  • It's just the way I have squatted for years. I have had little time to work on my form as I'm doing everything I can to bring my strength up after my surgeries so I can be ready for the Raw Unity Meet. Eventually, I'd like to work into a more powerlifting-style form, but that takes time.

  • Thanks for the praise, but you shouldn't lump all powerlifters together. There are many different standards for powerlifting, only some of which include multi-ply gear and loose judging.
