PBody Brawl tournament R1 - DC vs. Altoid

45 Seconds into the match Marth uses a D-Air, lands on the ground and instantly shields.... How the hell did he do that when there is no L-Canceling in Brawl? Anybody care to explain this to me? (Feel free to call me a nub if it's something I should have already known.)

In melee, I would soo punish someone for rolling.

If you played much Melee, then you know how horribly offensive the fights were. Only Fox, Marth, and an occasional Sheik could compete because the pace of the game (not to mention wavedashing) favored their aggressive styles too heavily. Don't reply with "Anybody is playable - you just have to know how to use them". Look at who wins tournaments on a regular basis. The game is broken. Melee devolved into a Nintendo version of Tekken - first one to get your 99-hit combo started wins.

Falco, Peach, Jiggs and Falcon all say "Hi." Combos in Melee are SHORT compared to most competitive fighting games other than VF and SF. Plus, combos NEED to be long and damaging. Otherwise, you get Brawl, where the worst punishment you'll ever take is 20% unless you're fighting MK. At the highest levels of play, if you fuck up, you should pay for it.

They didn't change their names. At tournaments, the same Wiis/Gamecubes are used and sometimes players forget to change the names, so names from the previous round transfer over.
