@catmini72 Are you basing that off of CD recordings or live performances? Its possible the dude's camera can't really pick up the sound well... lol. Someone's biased.
@catmini72 It's been a while for me personally, but I march trombone in the band and I can hear our part in this perfectly. I'm not a music major, but I'm not sure that this is the type of show that demanded honking pedal notes.
I know a lot of people are at war deciding whether the band is better or worse now, but I'm kind of curious as to why. I didn't think this type of comparative superiority or inferiority was what this band was about when I joined it.

Is it just me, or has the IUP marching band really gone downhill? I marched back in 86 and our cymbal line was so much cleaner. This group has sloppy feet and sloppy beats!!!!
@Magzillas uhh...no...it's not. i was present for this show, and i have to say i was let down. I expected better things from IUP, but i just thought this was boring. If you want the "real deal", watch the Cavaliers 2002 show, "Frameworks." I know it's a drum corps and this is a marching band, but this just doesn't impress me.
@quadmaster89 "Real deal" is a subjective term. If you went to this exhibition with drum corps standards, then I imagine that most of the bands at the show had you half-asleep. As marchers in the band, however, we consider marching two blocks into each other at 160 with no collisions to be a strong display of endurance and precision. I will never assert that IUP's marching band is better than any drum corps, but I think that our disagreement is merely based on differing standards.

@oboegirl08 Did you march oboe at IUP? I had some friends in the 86 oboe line and they were incredible. I think the oboe section has really gone downhill since then.

So, i went to IUP plays Pittsburgh...I noticed that the cymbal players are freaking AMAZING!!!!!
woot woo! this is probably going to be me next year.I am a senior at a small school, where I have been the drum major the past 2 years.
